Chapter 124 The Little Wife of the Farmer's Son 37

His face was distorted, his brows were furrowed, and veins were visible on his forehead, as if thousands of emotions were about to burst out.

After a long while, he gritted his teeth and spoke, his voice low and full of suppressed anger:

"Qingqing, you are truly my good sister! From childhood to adulthood, I have treated you like a treasure, but now you want to destroy my happiness like this?"

When Song Qingqing heard this, she was struck by lightning and trembled all over. She finally realized that she had made a big mistake.

Her knees softened and she fell to the ground, tears streaming down her face. Her voice choked with sobs: "Brother, I'm sorry. I really know I was wrong..."

At this moment, Chen Xiaoyu hurried over, hugged Song Zhe's legs tightly with her little hands, and raised her tearful face:

"Brother-in-law, you will definitely find your sister, right?"

Song Zhe suppressed his grief, leaned over and stroked Xiaoyu's head, and comforted her softly:

"Don't worry, Xiaoyu. Your brother-in-law will definitely bring your sister back safely."

Xiaoyu sobbed and nodded, with a firm trust in her voice: "Well, I believe my brother-in-law."

Song Zhe took a deep breath, turned to Song Qingshan and said in a deep voice:

"Qingshan, take Xiaoyu to rest."

Song Qingshan understood and replied softly, "Okay, brother." After that, he took Xiaoyu's hand and left the room.

After the two figures disappeared, Song Zhe could no longer hold on and a mouthful of blood spurted out.

His body swayed, his eyes went black, and he fell backwards.

"Zhe'er!" Song's mother exclaimed and hurried forward to support him.

Seeing this, Song Qingqing hurriedly stood up and wanted to help, but was pushed away by Song's mother.

Song's mother glared at him and scolded him harshly, "You evildoer! Get out of here!"

Song Qingqing fell to the ground, tears streaming down her face, shaking her head: "I didn't... I really didn't mean it..."

Song's mother turned a deaf ear and devoted herself to taking care of the unconscious Song Zhe.

She called out loudly: "Qingshan! Go get a doctor! Your brother has fainted!"

Upon hearing the sound, Song Qingshan immediately rushed out of the room and ran to the village doctor's house.

The entire Song family fell into chaos, and the air was filled with panic and anxiety.

Song Qingqing curled up in the corner, her heart gnawing with regret and self-blame.

Chen Xiaoru lazily lay on the bed in the inn, staring intently at the screen projected by the system. When she saw Song Zhe vomiting blood and falling to the ground, her brows furrowed slightly, and a trace of imperceptible heartache flashed in her eyes.

The system noticed the host's change of mood and teased, "Oh, host, are you feeling distressed? How about we go home?"

Chen Xiaoru rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Stop talking nonsense." She sat up, propped her hands on the bed, and said seriously, "Once Xiaoyu falls asleep, bring her to my bed. Remember, don't forget to send Song Zhe's portrait to Prince Pingyang. Use the Dream Enlightenment Talisman on Prince Pingyang, and one for Song Zhe as well." Her eyes gleamed with anticipation. "I'm going to meet my lover in my dreams."

After hearing the instructions, the system responded respectfully, "Understood, Host. I'll make the arrangements right away."

Chen Xiaoru nodded with satisfaction and lay back on the bed, her eyes revealing excitement and anticipation.

…………………………In a dream…

"Husband, husband, wake up and take your medicine." Chen Xiaoru called softly, with a bit of anxiety and worry in her voice.

Song Zhe heard Chen Xiaoru's voice and slowly opened his heavy eyelids. What came into view was Chen Xiaoru sitting by the bed, holding a bowl of medicine. An irrepressible joy surged in his heart, and he suddenly sat up in bed, his arms tightly wrapped around his wife's slender waist.

"Xiaoru, Xiaoru! I'm so glad that you're okay!" Song Zhe's voice was trembling with excitement, and his face was full of ecstasy.

Chen Xiaoru was startled by his sudden action, and most of the medicine in the bowl spilled onto the bed sheet. She gently patted her husband's back, her tone filled with doting helplessness: "Husband, look, you've spilled all the medicine."

The scene suddenly shifted, and Song Zhe found himself standing outside a secluded courtyard. It was quiet and deserted, with only the rustling of leaves in the breeze. He looked around in confusion, wondering: Wasn't I just holding Xiaoru? How did I end up here?

With a nervous heart, Song Zhe cautiously pushed open the courtyard door. With a creak, a faint sound from inside the house came through the crack of the door. The voice was so familiar that it startled him—it was clearly his wife Chen Xiaoru's voice!

Song Zhe held his breath and tiptoed into the room. The scene before him instantly made him feel like he was falling into an icy cave, and the blood in his body seemed to freeze.

Chen Xiaoru was found tied to the bedpost, her clothes disheveled, her face stained with tears. Her wrists and ankles were deeply scarred from the thick ropes, and blood oozed from the corners of her mouth. The room was filled with a pungent smell of medicine. Strange men were surrounding the bed, one of them holding a white porcelain bottle.

"Husband, save me...Husband...save me!" Chen Xiaoru's shrill cries rang out heart-wrenchingly.

Song Zhe's eyes widened, his pupils constricted, and the muscles on his face twisted in agony. He clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his palms, yet he was oblivious to the pain. A low, animal-like growl erupted from his throat, and his entire body teetered, nearly unable to stand.

"Xiao Ru!" Song Zhe cried heartbreakingly, his voice filled with despair and anger. He wanted to rush forward to save her, but found that his feet seemed to be rooted, unable to move. He could only watch helplessly as those people abused his beloved wife.

"Xiaoru, Xiaoru..."

Song Zhe lying on the bed was mumbling in a coma, with beads of sweat oozing from his forehead.

Song's mother paced back and forth in the room, looking at her son worriedly.
