"Five, five, six, big!"
"Yeah! I won!" Chen Xiaoru was quite happy to win for the first time in her life. The corners of her mouth curled up slightly, revealing a faint smile. Although she knew in her heart that this was all cheating by the system, the feeling of winning money was really good, and she couldn't help but feel a little excited.
The gamblers around sighed and looked at Chen Xiaoru. Some were envious, some jealous, and some gloated, waiting to see her lose the next round. After all, the rules of the casino are that winning is easy and losing is hard; no one can win all the time.
Chen Xiaoru didn't care about the looks of the people around her. She picked up another ingot of silver and threw it on the word "big" without hesitation, muttering to herself, "System, system, keep buying big, and win big for me!"
The dice cup was shaken again, and the sound of the dice colliding was crisp and pleasant, yet with a hint of nervous rhythm. The atmosphere around the gambling table became even more solemn, and everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on the dice cup.
"It's open! Buy it and leave it!"
The dice cup was opened, and three dice appeared - six, six, six!
"Wow! A leopard! Another big one!" The gamblers watching exclaimed, their eyes looking at Chen Xiaoru even more complicated. This woman, her luck is too good, right? She's like the God of Wealth is possessed!
Chen Xiaoru was also surprised by the result. She hadn't expected the system to be so powerful that it could even produce a leopard. She was so happy that she couldn't stop smiling, thinking that this system was a magic tool for getting rich!
Chen Xiaoru played like this for more than ten rounds, winning almost every time, and her winnings kept increasing. The silver in front of her had already piled up into a small mountain, and a rough estimate was that there was at least one thousand taels of silver.
Chen Xiaoru looked at the silver in front of her and smiled contentedly. One thousand taels of silver was enough for her to use for a while. She decided to quit while she was ahead. After all, steady wins were the best way to go. Winning too much at once might attract the attention of the gambling house.
"I don't want to play anymore. That's all for today. Thank you all for the money, bosses." Chen Xiaoru was in a good mood and started to talk nonsense. As she spoke, she reached out to take the silver on the table.
The gamblers around looked at each other in bewilderment. No one had expected Chen Xiaoru to be so straightforward, leaving immediately after winning. After all, who among those who usually come to a gambling house isn't driven to lose everything and won't give up until they're completely bankrupt? It's truly rare to see someone like Chen Xiaoru leave immediately after winning.
The gambling house manager had long noticed Chen Xiaoru's situation. He had been secretly observing her for some time, and seeing her win so much money, he was also frightened. He was well aware of Chen Xiaoru's "great reputation" and knew that this woman was not to be trifled with.
The manager had originally planned to wait for Chen Xiaoru to lose money before going over to "comfort" her, but she kept winning and was even planning to quit. The manager couldn't sit still anymore, as he knew the boss would definitely blame him if he let Chen Xiaoru leave with so much money.
The steward took a deep breath, bravely walked towards Chen Xiaoru, forced a smile that was uglier than crying, and asked cautiously, "This... Auntie, are you... are you leaving?"
Chen Xiaoru was busy putting silver into her purse when she heard someone calling her. She looked up and found that it was a middle-aged man in steward's clothes, looking at her with a flattering expression.
"What's the matter? Is there something wrong with the manager?" Chen Xiaoru raised her eyebrows and asked in a light tone.
"No...it's okay, it's okay." The manager waved his hands quickly, his smile becoming even stiffer. "I just wanted to ask, auntie, are you enjoying yourself? Do you want to play a few more rounds? Our gambling house just got a batch of top-quality dice today, and they feel really good..."
"No need, I'll stop here today." Chen Xiaoru interrupted the manager. She was not interested in playing nice with these people anymore. Her purpose of coming to the gambling house was not to gamble.
"Um, manager." Chen Xiaoru tied the purse, weighed it in her hand, and then looked at the manager. Her tone suddenly became serious. "I have something to ask your boss. Could you please take me to see him?"
When the manager heard Chen Xiaoru wanted to see the boss, he was stunned. He hadn't expected this young lady to actually talk to the boss about something. He began to wonder what Chen Xiaoru was looking for the boss for. Could it be... could it be that she was here to mess things up?
Thinking of this, the manager turned pale with fear, and cold sweat began to break out on his forehead. He stammered, "Auntie...Auntie, what...are you going to see our boss for?"
"I'm here to pay off my father's gambling debts." Chen Xiaoru said in a light tone, as if she was just stating a trivial matter.
"Yes, yes, I'll take you to see the boss right away." The manager responded quickly and motioned Chen Xiaoru to follow him.
The two of them came to the second floor, and the steward stopped in front of a door and said, "This is the boss's room."
Chen Xiaoru didn't hesitate at all and pushed the door open and walked in. The casino owner seemed to have expected her arrival and was already waiting in the room.
Chen Xiaoru's gaze darted around the room, finally settling on the gambling house owner. She was slightly startled. It was him? The fat man she'd met when she first arrived was actually the owner of this gambling house. This world, it seemed, was a little too small.
"I'm here to pay back the twenty taels of silver for my father." Chen Xiaoru took out twenty taels of silver from her purse and placed it gently on the table with a crisp sound.
The fat boss watched her movements and confirmed that she was not looking for trouble. He felt relieved and smiled. "Auntie, there is no rush. It's okay to return later."
Chen Xiaoru looked at the fat boss, shook her head slightly, and said, "Let's put things in perspective. I'm here to pay back what my father owes me. But..." She changed the subject, her eyes sharpening, "I have one more thing I want to discuss with the boss."
