"Fu Jingsheng, stop." Rong Yan gasped as she pulled the man's hand away.
"Really don't want to?" Fu Jingsheng whispered in the woman's ear.
The hot breath from his mouth brushed against the woman's earlobe, and she seemed to be electrocuted. She said no, but her toes involuntarily rose up.
Her hand climbed up the man's neck.
On the soft, large bed, the two were deeply entwined, and the water glass on the bedside table made ripples as it bumped against the surface.
"Be gentle." Rong Yan gripped the bed sheet.
Ding-ling-ling
The cell phone rang.
Fu Jingsheng pressed the mute button, and a moment later Rong Yan's phone rang again.
"Fu Jingsheng, I... I'll take this call. It must be something urgent." Rong Yan pushed the man's arm.
He turned to the side, took out his phone, and helped Rong Yan turn on speakerphone.
The call came from the maid downstairs; no one dared to go upstairs without Fu Jingsheng's permission.
"Madam, is the eldest young master asleep? Young Master Jingchen is here downstairs. He said he has something important to discuss," the maid said as the phone was answered.
Fu Jingsheng put on his clothes: "I'm going downstairs. Wait for me upstairs. We'll continue in a bit."
“I’m with you, I suspect it’s about Rong Bing.” Rong Yan had contacted Fu Jingchen not long ago, wanting to confirm with him whether Rong Bing had anyone backing her.
Presumably, Fu Jingchen has already found out something by now.
Rong Yan applied some powder to her and Fu Jingsheng's faces to cover their rosy cheeks, and the two of them went downstairs hand in hand.
Fu Jingchen stood at the top of the stairs and called out to them, "Brother, sister-in-law."
The woman gave a polite smile.
Fu Jingsheng asked expressionlessly, "Why are you here so late?"
"Wang Ma, make three cups of honey water," the man instructed, then invited Fu Jingchen to sit on the sofa.
Fu Jingchen indeed found some clues.
He went to Rong Bing's place in person. Although Rong Bing denied having anyone behind her, Rong Bing's expression when Fu Jingchen questioned her was enough to prove that what had happened before couldn't have happened without help.
Fu Jingsheng placed his fingers interlaced in front of his knees: "As long as that person is not found, the Fu family will still be in danger."
Rong Yan lowered her head and remained silent. Was it really because of her that Fu Jingsheng kept encountering problems?
“Sister-in-law, I’m sorry, I couldn’t get the specific person from Rong Bing. Rong Bing’s mental state isn’t very good.” Fu Jingchen looked remorseful. “She was very agitated when she saw me, and when she learned that I came for the Fu family, she became even more hysterical.”
"It's alright. As long as we know that Rong Bing wasn't the only one who did it, it's enough. At least it reminds us that things aren't over yet, and we can't let our guard down," Rong Yan said calmly.
"You two chat for a while, Fu Jingsheng, I'll go upstairs first." Rong Yan guessed that Fu Jingchen had something to say to Fu Jingsheng alone, so she took the initiative to leave.
Fu Jingchen heard the door close upstairs and said, "Brother, could I send Rong Bing some money every month? She's living in very poor conditions. The nanny who takes care of her only cooks for her. She has difficulty walking and has trouble getting around, so..."
Fu Jingchen knew that Rong Bing's current predicament meant he couldn't escape responsibility either.
Perhaps to make myself feel better, I'll offer some financial assistance.
But he also knew that Fu Jingsheng and Rong Yan hated Rong Bing to death. If Fu Jingsheng found out that he had secretly helped her, he would definitely not let him off the hook. After thinking it over, he decided to take the initiative to tell her.
Fu Jingsheng rubbed his temples. He couldn't agree on behalf of his wife, but Fu Jingchen wasn't his possession. Whom to take care of and who to help was up to Fu Jingchen himself.
The man remained noncommittal: "It's your decision. You don't need to ask Rong Yan about this anymore."
To prove how miserable Rong Bing was, Fu Jingchen took some photos and videos.
In the video, Rong Bing lives in a messy bungalow with empty bowls of food piled on the table. She sits on the floor with a blank stare.
The woman who used to wear heavy makeup now goes out without makeup and looks as old as she is in her forties.
Fu Jingchen understood Fu Jingsheng's answer.
"Thank you, brother." The man left Yushui Bay.
Fu Jingsheng went upstairs, where Rong Yan was in the study. She wrote down everyone who had appeared during this time, but there was no connection between them.
"Still under investigation?" Fu Jingsheng stood behind the woman.
Rong Yan shook her head: "Hmm, husband, do you think that person might be after me? I've dragged you down."
Fu Jingsheng placed his hand on the woman's cheek and turned to himself: "Rong Yan, I'm the one who dragged you down. In recent years, the Fu family business has grown bigger and bigger, naturally offending a lot of people."
Both of them took the blame upon themselves.
"Alright, I know you're afraid I'll blame myself," Rong Yan and Fu Jingsheng said in unison, then laughed together.
Fu Jingsheng held the woman in his arms and said, "Rong Yan, as long as we are always of one mind, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome."
"Okay, let's go back to our room and rest." Rong Yan put away her notebook.
"I'll carry you over." Fu Jingsheng picked the woman up in his arms.
"Fu Jingsheng, get a good night's sleep."
"Okay, sleep well."
When the alarm clock rang early in the morning, Rong Yan turned over in bed, feeling like she was falling apart.
Fu Jingsheng sat up, his hand on his back: "Does that club you mentioned last time cater to male customers? I'd like a massage."
"To entertain you." Rong Yan remembered seeing men coming and going.
At 10 o'clock, she made a phone call to make an appointment.
Lin Wei took leave after learning that Rong Yan had brought Fu Jingsheng with her.
It's not time to confront Fu Jingsheng head-on yet.
Lin Wei did not leave the club, but instead used the excuse of feeling unwell to rest in the staff dormitory.
At noon, Rong Yan brought Fu Jingsheng over. The woman secretly glanced at them and saw that the two were holding hands and acting unusually intimate in front of others. She thought of what Guo An had said about Fu Jingsheng's lack of sexual ability and wondered if there might be problems in their relationship.
But now that he's pretending to be so intimate, Lin Wei curses him inwardly, thinking he's a hypocrite, just like back then when he said he'd help her but secretly told the teacher about her.
Rong Yan's expression didn't seem fake; she genuinely loved Fu Jingsheng. Lin Wei wasn't entirely heartless; she knew that all the grudges had nothing to do with Rong Yan. Dealing with Songshan Clinic was out of necessity, but as long as the Fu family went bankrupt, she would find someone to send Rong Yan a sum of money.
The men's massage area was in another section. Rong Yan entered the gate and then separated from Fu Jingsheng, one on each side.
Shen Xingzhi didn't come, so Rong Yan lay alone on the massage bed, scrolling through her phone.
I saw a message by chance.
Relatives of the person involved in the medical malpractice incident at Songshan Clinic have come to cause trouble three years later, and are currently outside the clinic in Tiancheng.
Rong Yan sat up abruptly.
Three years ago, in Country H, a patient committed suicide in the underground parking garage of Songshan Clinic. However, the investigation at the time did not reveal the truth, as was reported to the outside world. It was not that Songshan's consultation worsened the patient's depression, leading to the suicide. The person had never even been to Songshan Clinic.
Why are people still bringing up past events and making a fuss about them?
And how did that person end up in Tiancheng?
Rong Yan's heart skipped a beat, and she became even more certain that the mastermind behind it all was targeting her.
She tore off her face mask and went to the clinic without even saying goodbye to Fu Jingsheng.
After Fu Jingsheng finished massaging her shoulders and neck, he learned that Rong Yan had left first, without saying what had happened in such a hurry.
He dialed his wife's number, but no one answered for a long time.
