Chapter 229 Fighting while ill, that's quite something.

Fu Jingsheng shook his head. He and Rong Yan had agreed not to have marital relations before returning to Tiancheng. It had only been two days, how could he go back on his word?

He listened to the children tell jokes to distract himself.

Although she had a private room, Rong Yan still felt that the noise inside would disturb others, so she told the nurse that she would go back to the hotel and come back early the next morning.

The patient next door left reluctantly, still chatting with him.

Fu Yunlei and the others wanted to ride in the same car as their mother, but Fu Jingsheng kicked them out of the car, citing the small space, the high number of viruses, and the risk of infection. The children then sat in another van.

Staying in a hotel is always more comfortable than staying in a hospital.

After arriving at the hotel, Fu Yunlei and the others took their own small blankets from their rooms and each of them put on a mask, as they were going to stay with their mothers.

In the rooms downstairs in the villa, Rong Yan checked the time. It was almost time to rest. She figured it would be fine if she went upstairs herself, since they weren't in the same room. So she agreed to let the children stay there.

Fu Jingsheng couldn't handle it all by himself, so Han Yue and Xiao Baihe simply moved in together.

The children were already very happy to be in the same building as their mother, and when it was time for bed, they all obediently went into their bedrooms.

After being disturbed for several hours, Rong Yan finally got some peace and quiet.

Fu Jingsheng poured honey water into his thermos before sitting down to rest. He leaned back on the sofa and sneezed a few more times.

Could he really have caught a cold? Is his constitution so fragile? Fu Jingsheng poured himself a glass of water; drinking more plain water is never a bad thing.

"Fu Jingsheng, did I infect you?" Rong Yan sensed something was wrong. She touched Fu Jingsheng's forehead, and thankfully it was ice-cold.

Fu Jingsheng would never admit that he was getting sick, even though his nose was already stuffy. The man stubbornly said, "How could that be? Your virus will only make me sneeze a few times at most."

The two observed each other until late at night. Fu Jingsheng had no fever, and Rong Yan's fever did not recur. They were ready to go to sleep peacefully.

After Rong Yan crawled under the covers, she kicked the man in the stomach. Just as she was about to move her leg away, Fu Jingsheng grabbed it.

He was too embarrassed to ask Rong Yan if she wanted to.

Rong Yan used a little force to pull her legs out, and she and Fu Jingsheng lay down at opposite ends of the bed.

"Rongyan, why are you sleeping on that side?" he asked, noticing his wife's feet were facing him.

"I'm still recovering from my cold, and I'm afraid I'll catch it if I sleep on your side." Before Rong Yan could finish speaking, she saw Fu Jingsheng lift the blanket and move to her side.

The man's expression was serious: "Rong Yan, I'm not afraid. If I were to contract an infectious disease someday, would you despise me?"

Rong Yan shook her head without hesitation: "Of course not."

Fu Jingsheng pinched her chin, looked into her eyes and said slowly and deliberately, "Me too. It's just a cold. There's no need to be so far apart. I don't even want to sleep on the same side of the bed, back to back. I want to keep an eye on you."

He kissed the woman's forehead and nestled her in his arms: "I'm telling the truth, don't scold me."

"What?" Rong Yan thought Fu Jingsheng was hiding something from her.

The man thought for a moment and said, "These past few days while you've been sick, I've actually felt a sense of happiness from being needed. I don't want to see you suffer, but I also hope you get better later so I can take care of you for a few more days."

"That's all?" Rong Yan breathed a sigh of relief. "I thought the company had run into trouble again."

"Wait, you want me to stay sick forever." The woman quickly realized, "Fu Jingsheng, you didn't drug me, did you? I was wondering why I suddenly developed a high fever."

"How could that be? I only started to feel good about taking care of you after you got sick. Would I drug you? The author's imagination is really wild." Fu Jingsheng didn't expect Rong Yan to have such thoughts.

"I was just kidding, Fu Jingsheng. To be honest, it's so good to have you. It feels so good to be taken care of by you. It's like I can foresee what I'll be like when I'm old. You take care of me. When I was in H country, I was most afraid of getting sick. Xu's mother is not in good health. If I get sick, it will be a burden to her..." Rong Yan thought of the days when she and her adoptive mother depended on each other.

She always believed that praising a woman for being strong was the cruelest thing to do. Only women without support are forced to be strong; if they could be pampered like princesses, who would want to be a career woman?

Fu Jingsheng stroked his wife's head: "It's all my fault for not protecting you well. You rarely talk about the past."

Yes, Rong Yan only mentions things from the past when it's unintentional.

Strangely enough, thinking about her now no longer makes me sad, but rather grateful—grateful that I encountered those hardships and that they made me stronger.

“Fu Jingsheng, I don’t want to hear you say these things. Blaming yourself won’t change anything. You should say that you’ll be here for me from now on.”

“Yes, I’ll be there for you from now on.” Fu Jingsheng’s eyes were firm. He tightened his grip on his wife’s arm. “Rongyan, sometimes I wish I could meld you into my own body. I don’t know how else to express my love for you except by merging with you, so I always want to do this.”

As soon as the last word was uttered, Fu Jingsheng's body seemed to respond simultaneously in a certain area. Was he really that eager?

Seeing the man's eyes pause for a moment, Rong Yan quickly separated herself from Fu Jingsheng by an arm's length.

Fu Jingsheng rolled over and lay face down, chatting peacefully. Why was his little brother so excited?

He pretended nothing was wrong and continued talking to his wife.

Rong Yan put on her mask and turned around, touching her husband's hand: "Fu Jingsheng, why are you hotter than me? Don't you have a fever?"

She touched the man's forehead again; it was still ice-cold.

"It's so hot." Fu Jingsheng kicked off the blanket, revealing his floral underwear. "I just can't be close to you. I don't want to in my mind, but I can't suppress my physical reaction."

Fu Jingsheng crossed his legs.

“Sweating from exercise can cool you down.” Rong Yan had a sudden inspiration, having gotten used to doing this with Fu Jingsheng every day.

That's a good reason.

Fu Jingsheng hesitated.

“But you’re sick, wouldn’t it be worse than a beast if I had those thoughts?” He sighed. “I’ll suppress them, they’ll be fine after a while.”

The more he tried not to think about it, the stronger his instinctive reaction became; Fu Jingsheng even felt that his clothes were about to burst.

Rong Yan crossed her legs over the man's waist: "I slept in the hospital all day, so I'm fully charged. I can't sleep without playing it."

Was she implying something to him? Fu Jingsheng's eyes widened: "Going into battle while sick?"

"Don't tell anyone," Rong Yan said shyly. "I don't have a fever today."

The man quickly pulled his wife into his arms, and he moved slightly, releasing himself.

Rong Yan's waist was being poked; how long had he been enduring this?

"Is it really possible?" Fu Jingsheng asked repeatedly.

Rong Yan nodded.

Fu Jingsheng removed her mask, stroked the back of her head, and kissed her lips.

Having lost their senses, the two forgot whether they were still sick and collapsed onto the bed.

Rong Yan gripped Fu Jingsheng's shoulder, demanding more: "Fu Jingsheng, let's get to the point."

She writhed beneath him.

Fu Jingsheng untied the knot in the woman's nightgown and pulled off the clothes.

He ground his teeth together in front of Rong Yan: "Wait."
