Yu Wenhao gave Shen Xingzhi almost no chance to catch her breath.
The woman's shoulders were still trembling when Yu Wenhao got to the point.
Shen Xingzhi grabbed the car door, fully waking up.
Half an hour later, she climbed into the back seat and lay down: "Yu Wenhao, I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up at ten o'clock."
The man opened the window slightly, and they both closed their eyes.
Upstairs, Rong Yan dressed neatly and went to the coffee shop.
"Great, the little garden is starting to look like a proper garden." Rong Yan admired the flowers at the entrance for a while, but since she hadn't been there for a few days, there were even more varieties now.
Ye Jianming smiled: "Yes, with more flowers, Han Nian can find me at a glance from the sky."
Rong Yan's smile suddenly vanished: "Ye Jianming, your sister definitely wants you to look forward. Grandma called me yesterday, why were you hiding at home crying again?"
Rong Yan took out a lollipop that her daughter used to eat from her pocket: "Here you go."
"Who's crying?" Ye Jianming denied. "And, are you trying to coax a child with a lollipop? I almost became your brother-in-law."
Upon hearing the words "brother-in-law," Rong Yan slapped Ye Jianming on the shoulder: "I'm older than you, you should just call me sister. Don't be so disrespectful. Who says only children can eat lollipops?"
"Try it. When I was in H country, if Xiaoyu and the others saw me unhappy, they would always give me a lollipop. It was really sweet," Rong Yan comforted Ye Jianming.
Ye Jianming protested, clutching his shoulder where he had been slapped: "Rong Yan, you look so thin and weak, but you really hurt when you hit me. I'm very happy. Who said I'm not happy? Don't treat me like you treat patients. I'm perfectly mentally healthy."
Rong Yan smiled faintly: "Really? You didn't cry? Why are your eyes swollen? Did you stay up all night playing games?"
Ye Jianming stubbornly replied, "Yes, it was from playing games."
The woman scoffed, "Fine, I believe you, Ye Jianming. Let's get down to business." Rong Yan's expression turned serious.
She told Ye Jianming about how she survived those days when she was alone in H country.
Ye Jianming's eyes were red. He didn't know if his sadness was because he felt sorry for Rong Yan's experience or because he thought that he would never see Gu Han Nian again.
The matriarch of the Ye family asked Rong Yan to persuade Ye Jianming. If that didn't work, she suggested that Ye Jianming go on blind dates. Perhaps if he met a suitable girl, he could let go of Gu Hannian. Rong Yan agreed on the surface, but did not do so.
No one can save anyone else; only self-salvation is possible. Ye Jianming can have a new partner, but only if he lets go of Gu Hannian first. Otherwise, it would be unfair to the girls who come later.
"Did Grandma ask you to persuade me to go on blind dates?" Ye Jianming suddenly asked.
Rong Yan nodded, but quickly shook her head: "I don't agree with this approach. You should come out of this yourself and accept the fact that Sister Han Nian has left."
"I know, sister, why are you talking so much now?" the man said impatiently.
"I'm not going to talk anymore, I'll have a mocha." Rong Yan said, her mouth dry.
Royal Water Bay.
Fu Jingsheng went to the company in the morning. He took the elevator directly to the president's office without being seen by other employees. He then called He Wei over.
All the clothes in the warehouse have been sorted out and will be available for sale at 8:00 AM the next day.
To ensure everything went smoothly, He Wei accompanied the entire process.
"Boss, why don't you come over here?" He Wei hoped that Fu Jingsheng would also be present on the open day.
"No, you can handle things at the company. I was just asking casually." Fu Jingsheng wouldn't have come today if he wasn't bored at home. He had originally planned to chat with He Wei, but seeing how busy he was, he felt embarrassed to bring up personal matters.
He stayed for half an hour before leaving the company.
In the parking lot, the man opened his car door and lit a cigarette. He was a person who particularly disliked socializing. If only he had made more friends back then, he wouldn't be in this situation where he has no one to talk to now.
The man took a few deep drags on his cigarette and then made a phone call to Rong Yan.
After leaving the coffee shop, Rong Yan made an appointment to have dinner with Shen Xingzhi. Just as her phone rang, she had a piece of meat in her mouth.
"Fu Jingsheng, what's wrong?" the woman asked, her words muffled.
"Are you eating?" the man immediately recognized.
"Um."
"Wife, can I mooch a meal from you?" Fu Jingsheng asked.
"I'm almost finished eating, is there nothing left to eat at home?"
"I felt bad about staying home and waiting for food if I wasn't working, so I came out early this morning. I had nowhere to go, so I've been wandering around outside until now." Fu Jingsheng wanted to see Rong Yan, so he pretended to be pitiful.
“Fu Jingsheng, let me teach you how to write copy.” Rong Yan really believed that Fu Jingsheng had nothing better to do.
"Okay," the man readily agreed. "I'll bring my laptop to see you this afternoon?"
"So urgent? Xingzhi and I have something to do this afternoon. I'll call you later."
Fu Jingsheng was hung up by Rong Yan before he could finish speaking.
Shen Xingzhi bit her chopsticks: "Rong Yan, Fu Jingsheng must miss you."
“No, he wants to work,” the woman blurted out.
Shen Xingzhi laughed out loud upon hearing this: "President Fu is looking for a job? Are you kidding me? You'd rather be an employee than a boss?"
"Looking down on migrant workers? They have a stable income regardless of drought or flood, and there's not much pressure. Isn't that great?" Rong Yan understood Fu Jingsheng, after all, she herself was a deserter.
"You two are a match made in heaven." Shen Xingzhi gave a thumbs up.
In the afternoon, Rong Yan and Shen Xingzhi were having a spa treatment together. Before they finished one treatment, Yu Wenhao called and said he had bought tickets for the play that Shen Xingzhi had been longing to see. The woman decisively left Rong Yan and went on a date with her boyfriend.
With her best friend not around, Rong Yan stayed until the second project was finished before leaving.
She thought of Fu Jingsheng, so she made a phone call.
The man went to the bookstore after lunch, but he didn't expect to receive a call from his wife so soon.
He sent Rong Yan his location, and the woman went there.
In the finance section of Chengyue Bookstore, Rong Yan saw Fu Jingsheng. The man was sitting on the floor, his slender fingers turning the pages of a book.
She especially enjoyed watching Fu Jingsheng concentrate on his work.
Fu Jingsheng lowered his head, with half of his face exposed.
Rong Yan pictured him as a teenager in the library, just like that, except that sunlight was shining on his face then.
It's as if I was hiding behind a bookshelf not far away, looking at him with his handsome features, but not daring to go up and say hello.
Rong Yan stared at the man for a while before tiptoeing over.
She fiddled with the book cover, smiling as she looked at the man.
The moment Fu Jingsheng looked up and lifted his eyelids, Rong Yan's heart seemed to be struck, and it started to jump.
The man placed the book on the bookshelf, took Rong Yan's hand, and walked out.
"Wife." He opened the car door and lifted her in. He couldn't wait to kiss her forehead. "I missed you. I missed you so much when we got to the bookstore."
Coincidentally, she herself had felt her heart flutter just now. Rong Yan raised an eyebrow: "Really?"
“Back in school, I secretly looked at you in the library,” Fu Jingsheng confessed.
Rong Yan was stunned; she was just like herself.
"The school is still there, but the old campus is abandoned. Let's go take a look." Fu Jingsheng started the car; he wanted to take Rong Yan back there.
The two people squeezed through the dilapidated courtyard gate, but the courtyard was empty.
Fu Jingsheng first took Rong Yan to the classroom, where he pinned her against the blackboard: "Rong Yan..."
