Yu Wenhao turned his back to the front window, lowered the chair, and Shen Xingzhi lay down flat.
"Xingzhi, wait for me to come back." He placed his hand under Shen Xingzhi's waist, his gaze intense as he looked her down. "I'll convince them in a few days at most."
The woman's gaze lingered for a moment. She wondered if she could really get out after going back, but she couldn't show it on her face. She nodded slightly and said, "Yes."
Shen Xingzhi closed her eyes, as if it were the last time.
Her fingertips traced across the man's back, her five fingers tightening to leave a mark.
Yu Wenhao frowned, enduring the pain.
A few minutes later, the man's phone rang.
He reached into his pocket, pressed the reject button, and his phone rang again a moment later.
Shen Xingzhi guessed that it was Yu's mother calling, and she nudged Yu Wenhao up: "Answer it."
The man answered the phone calmly: "Mom."
As soon as the call connected, Yu's mother launched into a barrage of questions: "Haven't you finished talking yet?"
"Wait a minute, I'll hang up now." Yu Wenhao hung up the phone directly and put it on silent mode.
Shen Xingzhi's interest waned. She straightened up, sighed, and said, "That's enough, let's go." The woman prepared to get out of the car.
Yu Wenhao grabbed her and pressed her against the car door: "Xingzhi, I'm not answering anymore, I'm not answering anyone's calls."
The car started to bump and jolt.
After a few minutes, the two of them tidied their clothes and got off the bus.
Yu Wenhao returned upstairs as if nothing had happened.
Shen Xingzhi sent Rong Yan a message from the garage, telling her she could come down now.
Rong Yan gave her car keys to Fu Jingsheng, telling him to go home first, while she went to keep Shen Xingzhi company.
Upstairs, Mrs. Yu waited anxiously for her son. Only when the door opened did her heart relax. She immediately slung her bag over her shoulder and hugged her son tightly.
Shoulder: "Let's go, son. I don't want to stay here for even a minute longer."
Yu Wenhao picked up his luggage, looked around, and reluctantly closed the door.
Rong Yan drove Shen Xingzhi away.
"How so?" Rongyan asked.
"I don't think he'll come back." Shen Xingzhi held back her tears, knowing that there was a high probability that Yu Wenhao would not return.
Rong Yan could hear the sob in her best friend's voice. She pulled the car over to the side of the road and held her hand: "Have you said everything you wanted to say?"
Shen Xingzhi shook her head: "I can't say it."
"Should we ask him to stay a little longer? Xingzhi, you're not the type to be coy. I know how you feel about Wenhao. If you're reluctant to let him go, tell him. As for what he chooses, that's his business."
Shen Xingzhi bit her lip: "I don't want to put him in a difficult position."
“If you don’t express your thoughts, he’ll think you don’t need him. Will he still have the courage to defy his parents?” Rongyan didn’t want her best friend to end up like her.
“You know how regrettable it was for me and Fu Jingsheng to break up because of a misunderstanding. Go ahead and give him a call,” Rong Yan encouraged her best friend.
"Go."
“Okay, I’ll call him and tell him to stay a little later,” Shen Xingzhi replied.
Yu Wenhao bought the earliest train ticket, for 3 PM. With several hours to spare, he hesitated about whether to find an excuse to see Shen Xingzhi again. Then his girlfriend called, asking when he was coming home. Upon learning it was afternoon, she sent Yu Wenhao her location, and the two met at a coffee shop.
Yu's mother had originally planned to lie to her son and not let him come out after he returned home. After all, Tiancheng had his colleagues, so it would be fine to let him see them.
“I’ll wait for you in the park, go ahead.” She took her son’s luggage.
Yu Wenhao took a taxi to the coffee shop.
Shen Xingzhi waited anxiously, having already ordered coffee and dessert.
The two looked at each other for a long time before Shen Xingzhi spoke first: "What if Auntie doesn't let you come?"
"I'm a grown man, she can't stop me," Yu Wenhao said confidently.
"What if you threaten to kill yourself?"
“Xingzhi, my mother wouldn’t do something so extreme. She’s always respected me since I was little.” Yu Wenhao’s voice trailed off as he said this.
Shen Xingzhi shook her head and scoffed, "You don't even have the confidence yourself, do you? I respect you, so why did you come here to say those things?"
Yu Wenhao held his girlfriend's hand: "Xingzhi, my mom is just angry for a moment. She'll be fine once she calms down. When I was a child, she always objected to things, but as long as I persisted, she was the one who eventually compromised."
"Yu Wenhao, you didn't answer me. If she threatens to kill herself, what will you choose?" Shen Xingzhi just wanted an answer.
“I won’t be threatened by her, and my mom won’t do that either,” Yu Wenhao said confidently.
"Okay, remember what you said. If you don't come back within ten days, we'll consider it a breakup." After saying what she wanted to say, Shen Xingzhi took Yu Wenhao to the park where his mother lived.
——
Lu Mansion.
Lu Kai slept in a corner of the study all night.
Liang Jia had been waiting outside the door. In the morning, when the cleaning lady was cleaning, she saw the woman lying on the ground trembling.
"Miss Liang," the aunt called out several times.
Liang Jia's teeth were chattering. She was curled up on the carpet, with nothing covering her.
When her aunt saw that she hadn't opened her eyes, she nudged her a few more times. Finally, Liang Jia opened her eyes, sneezed, and snot ran down her nose.
The woman stood up, leaning against the wall, but found herself feeling dizzy and seeing many small stars in front of her.
She leaned against the wall for a few seconds, then sat down again; her legs simply had no strength left.
"Miss Liang, you have a fever." The aunt accidentally touched Liang Jia's arm and found it was very hot.
Liang Jia's head felt heavy, and her breathing became increasingly difficult. Finally, everything went black, and she remembered nothing after that.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in the hospital.
Lu Kai sat beside him, his hands supporting his chin.
“Sir.” Liang Jia’s vision was a little blurry, but she still recognized Lu Kai at a glance.
"Jiajia, are you feeling better?" Lu Kai helped Liang Jia sit up.
"What's wrong with me?" the woman asked.
"Miss Liang, you fainted! You scared me to death!" the aunt replied on her behalf.
"Aunt Wu, go back and make some nourishing soup for the fetus. I'll take care of things here," Lu Kai instructed.
"Pregnancy-nourishing soup?" Liang Jia looked puzzled. She touched her lower abdomen. Could it be...?
Lu Kai once said he didn't like children. Will she be disliked by men for being so careless?
"Sir, I'm sorry, I didn't know, I don't want him." Liang Jia pounded her stomach.
Lu Kai grabbed the woman's hand: "Don't move, be careful not to hurt the baby."
His eyes were unusually gentle, making Liang Jia think she was imagining things.
Lu Kai clearly said he wouldn't get married, let alone have children, so why is he like this now?
Lu Kai placed the woman's finger to his lips. When the doctor reported the situation, he learned that Liang Jia was pregnant, and at that moment he jumped up with joy.
It seems that only the arrival of this child can help him completely keep women, and he will never have to worry about Liang Jia leaving him again.
"Jiajia, I want our child. Don't be so silly and sleep on the floor in the future."
Liang Jia slapped her head, and the real pain made her realize she wasn't dreaming.
Lu Kai sat on the hospital bed and pulled Liang Jia into his arms: "I think I might really have fallen for you."
"Love arises without knowing its origin." He took Liang Jia's hand and placed it on her stomach, gently stroking it.
