Chapter 29 I'm sorry, I only just realized it was you who saved me.

Fu Jingsheng's actions were unexpected by Rong Yan.

The woman quickly found a suitable reason; it must have been out of guilt that Fu Jingsheng allowed his mother's belongings to be preserved.

After staying at the Rong family's house for a while, Grandma complained about all sorts of things, and Rong Yan made an excuse that she had to leave because she had something to do at the clinic.

Rong Bing pleaded and tried to stop Rong Yan from having dinner at home that evening.

Huo Shufen, for the first time ever, bought a lot of Rong Yan's favorite dishes.

They were being overly attentive.

Rong Yan could tell at a glance that something was amiss, and the woman became cautious.

They refused to drink anything, insisted on eating the food that the others had already eaten, and refused to sit in the seats that had been arranged for them. Later, they discovered that there was nothing wrong with the food.

The meal went smoothly, and Rong Yan wondered if she had been too nervous.

After dinner, Rong Bing gave the children toys she had specially bought.

They also said that their second maternal grandfather would take them to the square to play.

Huo Shufen then used the excuse that she had something to say to Rong Yan to take her to her room.

Rong Yan never expected the power to go out suddenly.

In the pitch-black space, the woman squatted on the ground, barely able to breathe.

Huo Shufen pretended to call an ambulance, locked the door, and did not return for a long time.

In a panic, Rong Yan dialed a number on the spot.

Fu Jingsheng saw the familiar name on the caller ID and pressed the answer button.

Then I heard a terrified voice on the other end of the phone.

"Yan Yan, Yan Yan..." Fu Jingsheng called out anxiously.

"Brother Jingsheng." Rong Yan would unconsciously call out "Brother Jingsheng" when she was extremely terrified.

"Rong Yan, where are you?" Fu Jingsheng guessed that the woman's claustrophobia had flared up again.

Rong Yan couldn't hear any other sounds, she just kept repeating "Brother Jing Sheng".

In the courtyard, Rong Bing and Huo Shufen chatted while eating melon seeds, hoping that Rong Yan would be terrified.

Fu Jingsheng immediately called Shen Xingzhi and learned that Rong Yan had returned home in the afternoon.

He rushed to the Rong family's house.

Rong Bing heard the urgent knocking and slowly went to knock on the door. When she saw Fu Jingsheng, she thought the man had changed his mind.

The woman said sweetly, "Sheng, you've finally agreed to see me."

"Where is she?" Fu Jingsheng's mind was filled with Rong Yan.

"Who?" Rong Bing pretended to be stupid.

The man's voice suddenly rose: "Where is she? Where have you locked her up?"

Huo Shufen came out upon hearing the noise: "Jing Sheng is here. Why are you angry as soon as you arrive? Come in and sit down."

"Where is Rong Yan? I know she went home." Fu Jingsheng said, emphasizing each word.

"Rong Yan, Rong Yan," Fu Jingsheng called out from the courtyard.

The frightened woman huddled in a corner, unable to hear anything outside.

"If anything happens to her, I'll make the entire Rong family pay with their lives." Fu Jingsheng was like a mad beast.

"Fu Jingsheng, what's wrong with you?" Rong Bing pushed Fu Jingsheng out. "Rong Yan is missing? Maybe she's out fooling around. I think you should go to a bar to look for her. What are you yelling about in my house for?"

Rong Bing is still smearing Rong Yan.

When Rong Yan was imprisoned with Fu Jingsheng, she was just as terrified. Fu Jingsheng taught her to sing "The Flying Insects," and he told her to imagine bright stars in the sky so she wouldn't be afraid.

Sure enough, as she sang, Rong Yan became less afraid.

Rong Yan closed her eyes and began to sing "The Little Insects Fly".

Fu Jingsheng called out from room to room.

Finally, I heard singing in the west room.

He kicked open the door. The room was dark, and singing could be heard coming from the corner.

I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm only afraid of a broken heart...

The man's temples throbbed.

Fifteen years ago, he was kidnapped, and a girl named Beibei rescued him.

They were all blindfolded and locked in a pitch-black room where they couldn't see their own hands.

Fu Jingsheng taught Beibei to sing "The Insects Fly".

They encouraged each other and waited for rescue.

During his university years, Rong Bing found him and told him that she was the one who saved him back then.

The time, place, and names all match up, even the claustrophobia matches up, but Rong Bing didn't mention "The Flying Insects" at all.

When Rong Yan was in high school, she told her younger sister that she liked Fu Jingsheng and had saved him. She said she was very brave at the time, but out of pride, she didn't tell her sister. In the end, she chickened out, and Fu Jingsheng ended up saving her instead.

“Brother Jingsheng, I saw many stars.”

Fu Jingsheng turned on the light and could no longer hold back.

He picked up Rong Yan and ran straight to the hospital.

"Rong Yan, why are you hiding in your room all by yourself?" Huo Shufen pretended not to know anything.

Fu Jingsheng didn't have time to settle accounts with them.

Seeing the light, Rong Yan slowly opened her eyes.

Before me was Fu Jingsheng's swaying face.

“Brother Jingsheng.” Rong Yan placed her hand on Fu Jingsheng’s cheek. “You told me you had something to do at the Fu family, but Brother Jingsheng, why did you say you didn’t recognize me when I got there?”

Fu Jingsheng's tears fell onto the woman's hand.

"I'm sorry, I'm too late. I only just realized that it was you who saved me." Fu Jingsheng's voice choked with emotion.

Rong Yan didn't hear anything that followed.

Fu Jingsheng finally understood why Rong Yan always looked at him with such despair.

She was so brave, brave enough to get into the thug's car all by herself, just to save a complete stranger.

She is clearly very afraid of the dark.

Last time, she and Rong Bing were in the dark room. She only took Rong Bing with her and even falsely accused her of framing Rong Bing. She kicked her when she left. Did she hate herself at that time?

Rong Yan always knew that Fu Jingsheng was her Jingsheng brother, but he didn't know that Rong Yan was the one who truly saved him.

Time and again, he protected Rong Bing, misunderstood Rong Yan, wronged Rong Yan, and even humiliated Rong Yan. No wonder Rong Yan said that her claustrophobia was caused by rescuing dogs back then.
