Chapter 308 Detachment

Lu Kai quickly realized that getting close to Liang Jia might hurt her again.

The man let go and took a few steps back: "Jiajia, I'd better stay away from you. I'll come back when you're better."

Liang Jia stared blankly at the man who had suddenly pulled away: "Sir, you haven't seen me these past two days because you were afraid you would hurt me? I'm not afraid."

"It's better to die on you than to never see you again." Liang Jia is simply beyond help.

The more the woman said this, the more Lu Kai felt he couldn't bear it.

He was afraid that he would be moved by Liang Jia's pitiful appearance and stay, so he lowered his eyes, said goodbye, and left the ward immediately.

Fearing Liang Jia would cry, Lu Kai asked the servants waiting outside to go in and keep an eye on the woman.

The aunt gave Liang Jia, who was crying, a tissue and kept trying to persuade her, telling her that Lu Kai was afraid he wouldn't be able to control his behavior, so he left temporarily, which was actually a sign of his love for her.

Liang Jia knew it in her heart, but she just couldn't stop the tears from falling.

Finally, the aunt said, "Jiajia, your husband is enduring it for your health. If you keep causing him trouble, won't he be wasting his energy? Listen to me, don't let it cause you any health problems later."

The woman then stopped sobbing.

Lu Kai is temporarily staying in the suburbs.

Taking advantage of a break from caring for Liang Jia, Lu Kai calmed down and thought about some things.

He ordered a flower basket and planned to visit his mother in the countryside.

The man was unaware that Fu Jingsheng had arranged for someone to be at the cemetery.

In the afternoon, Lu Kai appeared at his mother's grave with a flower basket.

The temperature was high in the middle of summer, and the man was already drenched in sweat after climbing a short distance up the mountain. When he arrived, he sat down on the ground and rested for a while.

He did the math and realized it had been at least seven or eight years since he last came.

The area in front of my mother's grave was desolate; it was clear that no one ever paid their respects there.

Lu Kai stared at the portrait on the tombstone, feeling somewhat dazed, as if he didn't recognize the person in the photo.

Indeed, over the years, in order to escape those nightmares, he deliberately avoided thinking about them, and gradually, he forgot what his parents looked like.

Even knowing that his mother's mental breakdown due to his father's abuse led to her domestic violence against him, Lu Kai still couldn't forgive her.

His childhood nightmares were like mad dogs, constantly chasing him, and he would wake up in a cold sweat countless times.

The culprits have been punished; the Fu family matriarch, the patriarch, and Fu Jingsheng's father have all passed away.

Before she died, the old lady blamed everything on Rong Yan. Lu Kai felt a brief pang of sympathy, thinking that Rong Yan was innocent. But soon he thought, wasn't he innocent too?

If he weren't ruthless, how could he survive in this world?

Sure enough, there was movement at Lu Kai's mother's grave, and the people staking out the spot immediately sent a message to Fu Jingsheng.

But Fu Jingsheng was busy with the old lady's funeral arrangements and didn't notice his phone.

The man dared not get too close, lest Lu Kai discover him.

However, Lu Kai's worship of his mother alone cannot prove anything.

Maybe they just missed their mother and came to visit. It doesn't necessarily mean they've avenged their mother and are just here to comfort her spirit in heaven.

Having not received instructions from Fu Jingsheng, the people staking out the location were worried about not doing their job properly, so they tried to go around from the other side and hide not far away, hoping to record some useful information.

Lu Kai lit the paper money in the porcelain jar.

The man's childhood experiences had instilled in him a habit of speaking carefully.

Even in an empty cemetery, he would not reveal anything about himself or the Fu family.

After all the paper money had burned, the man cleared his throat, and the people who were staking out the location thought they were about to record something important.

Unexpectedly, Lu Kai spent the entire time recalling how difficult his childhood and his mother's life had been.

The people who were staking out the place were almost moved to tears. He nearly shed a tear himself. What kind of life was Lu Kai living?

From the time he was old enough to understand, Lu Kai was like a human punching bag. He was initially beaten by his father, but his mother would protect him. After his mother suffered a mental breakdown, she, like his father, subjected him to abuse for three years.

Lu Kai didn't cry when he said those words; he was already blinded.

He couldn't take it anymore and ran away from that house. Not long after, he heard that his father and mother had both passed away.

Grandpa and Grandma built a grave for them.

But Lu Kai has never visited his father's grave. He hates that man too much. Lu Kai said that for a time, he even thought about draining his own blood, because he felt ashamed to have that man's blood in his body.

Just as the people staking out the location were about to leave, thinking they hadn't found anything important, they heard Lu Kai say that he had met a girl.

Because of his distorted upbringing, he once resorted to violence against that girl, but she stayed by his side.

He still can't change his habit of abusing her when he gets excited. This girl is the only one who loves him, and he doesn't want to hurt her anymore, so he has chosen to leave for a while.

The people staking out the spot listened intently, hoping Lu Kai would reveal the girl's name.

Sure enough, a moment later, Lu Kai uttered the name Liang Jia, saying that she used to be a doctor at a famous clinic, but she resigned for his sake.

Lu Kai didn't avoid mentioning Liang Jia in his later remarks, and you could tell that his tone was very different when he talked about Liang Jia.

This information is definitely useful.

After Lu Kai left the cemetery area, the people staking out the area immediately called Fu Jingsheng to report the situation.

Fu Jingsheng has already investigated Liang Jia, but he has not found any evidence that Liang Jia has done anything detrimental to the Fu family.

However, Fu Jingsheng said that he would talk to Liang Jia after he finished dealing with things at home.

At the hospital, Liang Jia sent Lu Kai a lot of messages.

She said she didn't blame Lu Kai at all.

The man's eyes instantly reddened when he saw the message. He didn't reply, afraid that if he did, he wouldn't be able to resist going back to Liang Jia's side.

He called another housekeeper and asked her to take good care of the woman for the next month.

Liang Jia waited until nightfall but still didn't receive a reply.

She couldn't stay in the hospital any longer and insisted on going back to the Lu Mansion. Her aunt had no choice but to accompany her home to see her first.

As soon as the woman entered the room, she began looking for Lu Kai, only to discover that he had taken his usual clothes with him.

She saw Lu Kai's message on the bedside table where she usually slept.

Lu Kai has moved to another house and will be back in a month. He told Liang Jia to take good care of herself.

The woman obediently returned to the hospital.

Tang Wan called Liang Jia in the afternoon to arrange a meeting.

Since the HR department has already investigated her, she needs to find Liang Jia to confirm whether Liang Jia and Lu Kai have done anything to betray the clinic.

Upon learning that her friend was coming, Liang Jia went home and put on makeup.

She pretended nothing had happened and met Tang Wanyue at a nearby dessert shop.

Liang Jia ordered Tang Wan's favorite juice in advance.

"Jiajia." Tang Wan waved to her friend who was sitting by the window as soon as she entered the room.

Liang Jia stood up to greet her. When she saw Tang Wan, she smiled and said, "Wanwan, we're really on the same wavelength. I was thinking about you this morning, and I didn't expect you to ask me out this afternoon."

Tang Wan took a sip of juice and then got straight to the point, telling Liang Jia about the clinic.

Liang Jia never expected that the HR department would discover her relationship with Lu Kai.

The woman vehemently denied it: "Wanwan, what do you mean? Lu Kai and President Fu have a grudge? They think I'm helping Lu Kai get revenge? Are you just telling a story?"
