"If you don't forgive me, I'll pull down your pants right now so everyone knows us, and you'll know me wherever I go." Rong Yan grinned mischievously, raising her hand as if to reach out.
"Stop fooling around." Fu Jingsheng lowered his head and whispered as a group of people stared at him.
"Are you still angry?" Rong Yan asked again.
"If you let go, I won't be angry." Fu Jingsheng compromised.
Rong Yan sat up straight and apologized again after the crowd dispersed.
Fu Jingsheng put his arm around his wife's shoulder, looking like an adult earnestly advising a child.
He said earnestly, "Didn't you tell me the meaning of a partner? You also said that family members are supposed to be a burden to each other, so why do you want to run away now? Rongyan, there can be no next time."
Fu Jingsheng's gaze was intense: "You must swear that no matter what happens in the future, you will not act on your own initiative. Of course, I will do the same. We must support each other."
Rong Yan made a vow.
Fu Jingsheng pulled his wife back into the car, opened the sunroof, and felt the warm glow of the sunset on her skin.
He pulled Rong Yan into his arms, his nose brushing against her ear: "I really want to brand you in a conspicuous place, so that wherever you go, people will know you're mine at a glance."
Rong Yan lay on Fu Jingsheng's chest, her fingers twirling in circles: "Shall we start with a kiss?" She unbuttoned the man's shirt and kissed him forcefully.
"Rong Yan." Fu Jingsheng frowned. "When did you turn into a dog?"
Rong Yan didn't say a word, but instead kissed the man's neck again in protest.
"No, not here." By the time Fu Jingsheng realized what was happening, it was too late; the man had already been given a hickey on his neck.
He looked at himself in the mirror: "I'm having late-night snacks with He Wei and the others tonight, and they're going to laugh at me again."
"Having a late-night snack?" Rong Yan asked in confusion. "How come I didn't know that?"
"I only decided this afternoon, and I haven't had a chance to tell you yet, honey. This isn't what you call withholding information," the man explained.
"Okay, shall I put a band-aid on your wound?" Rong Yan opened her bag.
Fu Jingsheng quickly covered his neck: "No need, it might not be visible at night if I don't put it on, but it will be more noticeable if I do. I also need to leave something on you."
He wrapped his legs around Rong Yan.
"Fu Jingsheng, I need to rest." Rong Yan struggled to get up. "I was exhausted the past two days, so don't do anything reckless. How about we go see a movie?"
Fu Jingsheng straightened his clothes: "Okay, it's time to relax."
Lucheng.
Li Yun's act of catching his wife cheating on the spot immediately became a local hot topic.
It would have been easy for him to cripple Guo An, but he decided to let him go because he felt some sympathy for the man, who had been played like himself.
Li Yun had never suffered such humiliation before, when the woman he had carefully cultivated had betrayed him after using him.
Even after Lin Wei was imprisoned, he was still not satisfied.
Li Yun called his friends for drinks, and the drunken man said that when Lin Wei came out, he would cut off the woman's flesh piece by piece.
"Old Li, let's stick to the facts. You weren't loyal to them either," his friend tried to persuade Li Yun to think more positively.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, the man threw down the wine bottle in his hand and started cursing.
The emotionally agitated man paced back and forth in the private room, accidentally slipping and falling on shards of glass. He was rushed to the hospital that very night.
Lin Wei didn't know what happened to Guo An after she was imprisoned. The woman huddled in a corner, on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Lu Kai, who almost got himself into trouble, bought fireworks at the last minute because he wanted to celebrate with Liang Jia that night.
In the clinic, Liang Jia pondered the man's words from earlier that day. What kind of surprise was he going to prepare?
When the aunt came to deliver the food, Liang Jia asked her twice if Lu Kai was home, and the aunt said no both times.
Did Lu Kai go to buy himself a bag? But it wouldn't take all day to do that.
Liang Jia didn't dare call the man to ask anything halfway through; she waited anxiously.
Lu Kai finally returned to the hospital after nightfall.
"Lu Kai." Liang Jia saw the man sit up happily.
Lu Kai stood beside the hospital bed and asked, "Is anything bothering you?"
The woman shook her head.
"Can we go out then?" Lu Kai asked again.
Liang Jia threw back the covers and got out of bed: "Of course I can. I'm just resting in the hospital, I don't have any illness, how could I not go out? Sir, where do you want to take me?"
Liang Jia didn't see the things the man was carrying, assuming he had been out scouting locations all day and was now showing her around to choose.
"Mm." Lu Kai helped the woman put on her clothes.
As the car drove towards the suburbs, Liang Jia looked at the skyscrapers receding into the distance and asked, "Sir, where are we going?"
"You'll know when we get there," Lu Kai said with a smile.
Liang Jia thought to herself, "I don't want to go to the mall. Could it be that Lu Kai went to another city during the day? The car seems to be heading towards Mengzhou."
As the night deepened, a crescent moon hung in the sky. Liang Jia grew increasingly curious, but fearing that Lu Kai would find her annoying, she refrained from asking any further questions.
Another twenty minutes passed before the car finally arrived at its destination.
The woman who hadn't gotten off the bus looked out the window; it was pitch black, and she couldn't see any houses.
Liang Jia panicked. What did Lu Kai want to do? Why did he bring her to such a desolate place? Considering that Lu Kai liked to be tortured, did he want her to torture him here?
But this can hardly be considered a surprise.
After the man got out of the car, he opened the passenger door and said gently, "Jiajia, we're here."
Liang Jia felt a chill down her spine and didn't dare get out of the car: "It's so dark here."
Lu Kai reached out to take Liang Jia's hand: "It won't be dark in a little while."
The woman forced herself to come down.
Only then did she realize that they were actually by the lake, with a few people strolling along the shore. The woman breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed she had been overthinking things, and Lu Kai had simply brought her for a walk.
The two walked hand in hand for a few minutes before Lu Kai stopped.
"Everyone, get ready," the man said to the group in front of him.
Liang Jia saw the fireworks on the shore and the people standing next to them, and instantly understood.
"Jiajia, stand back a bit." Lu Kai took the woman's arm and pulled her back.
"Mr. Lu, ten seconds left on the countdown," the group said in unison.
Lu Kai covered Liang Jia's ears.
Soon, the sky was lit up with colorful fireworks.
People strolling along the shore gathered around, probably none of them expecting to see a fireworks show here.
With tears welling up in her eyes, Liang Jia looked up at the magnificent sky. The fireworks were all different shapes and sizes; it turned out that Lu Kai had been preparing for them all day.
She remembered that when she watched the opening ceremony a year ago, she mentioned that girls all like to watch fireworks, especially those fireworks shows specially prepared for them.
Unexpectedly, Lu Kai remembered it.
Liang Jia unconsciously leaned closer, her arms around the man's waist, hesitant to speak. In the firelight, tears seemed to glisten in the man's eyes as well.
The show lasted for a few minutes, and only after everything calmed down did Lu Kai let go of her hand.
"Kai, thank you." Liang Jia couldn't hold back her tears.
"Jiajia, I wanted to set off some with words on them, like 'I love you,' but I couldn't find any after searching all day. However, I ordered some. Your birthday is coming up soon, and I'm going to set off some in the city for you to see. We'll have to make do with this for today."
"Kai." Liang Jia tiptoed and kissed the man's lips.
