Chapter 514 Extra (14) Going to Grandma's

Lanshan Garden.

Fu Yunlei and the others went to his grandmother's house.

Old Deng and Han Yue live in a three-room house.

The balcony is filled with flowers, and there are exotic pets in the living room.

The Rong sisters love these little animals the most, and as soon as they arrive at their grandmother's house, they start examining the glass tank.

They longed to reach out and touch it, and even more so, they wanted to take it home and raise it themselves, but their mother was most afraid of these things.

The little girl cautiously reached out her hand, but just before touching the animals, she suddenly pulled it back. These were pets she had seen in a pet store, but her grandmother had brought them home.

Old Deng noticed the children's fondness for exotic pets.

He said, "If you like them, Grandpa will buy two more and give them to you."

The children shook their heads together, then puffed out their cheeks and said, "No, Mommy's afraid of pets without fur."

Han Yue came over; "Yes, Rong Yan is afraid of exotic pets. If you want to come here, you'd better not take them back."

The four children nodded obediently.

"They don't bite, you can hold them in your hand like Grandpa does," Old Deng demonstrated.

“I know they don’t bite, but they’re so small, I’m afraid I might accidentally crush them if I hold them in my hands,” Rong Shimo said, gently touching the little pet.

"It's not that fragile, give it a try." Old Deng stretched out his arm, and the little pet lay on his arm, moving its head from side to side, looking extremely cute.

After hearing what Grandpa said, the children felt reassured and picked up the pets. They played with them for a while and were even more reluctant to put them down.

"Grandma, why don't we stay here for the weekend? You have plenty of rooms." Fu Yunting came up with a good idea.

Han Yue had told Rong Yan that the children could stay at her house on weekend nights, but Rong Yan was worried about disturbing Lao Deng, since Lao Deng wasn't their biological grandfather.

In the end, Han Yue never mentioned it to Lao Deng again.

"Of course," Old Deng replied on his behalf.

"Thank you, Grandpa." Before Han Yue could speak, the children had already hugged Old Deng and thanked him.

"They come to the stadium with us during the day and come back to play with their pets at night. It's great." Old Deng's eyes narrowed into slits. Ever since he met Han Yue, he has grown to like having more and more people around.

"Isn't tomorrow the weekend? Grandma, let's go back and get our clothes. We'll stay here tonight, and we need to feed Beibei tomorrow morning." Fu Yunlei remembered that today was Saturday.

“Sure, I’ll make the bed. We have some washed, unused bedding sets at home,” Old Deng agreed without hesitation.

"Shouldn't we ask Mom if she agrees?" Fu Yunlei was worried that his mother wouldn't agree. They had thought about staying overnight at Grandma's before, but his mother said it would disturb Grandma.

"I'll talk to Mom about it," Han Yue sent a message to her daughter-in-law.

After leaving the clinic, Rong Yan went to Xingda.

Rong Yan had just parked her car when she received the text message from her mother-in-law.

The children were going to stay with their mother-in-law, so Rongyan immediately called back and let her son answer the phone.

Han Yue turned on the speaker.

"Lei Lei, stop fooling around with your younger siblings. Dad and I will come pick you up at eight o'clock."

“Mom, we didn’t cause any trouble, you don’t need to pick us up. We’re going to stay at Grandma’s. We’ve already talked to Grandpa Deng, and we’ll help him feed his little pets tomorrow,” Fu Yunlei pleaded.

"Rongyan, let the children stay here tonight. Your Uncle Deng is preparing a midnight snack. We won't go to the stadium until 10 a.m. tomorrow. Xiao Ke can pick them up then." Han Yue tried to persuade her grandson.

"Won't this be too much of a bother for you?" Rong Yan asked cautiously.

"How could that be? It's lively with more people. Old Deng was overjoyed when he heard the kids wanted to stay here, so he immediately made up their beds. I'll let you in on a little secret: you even hid some toys, and you took them all out when you were making the beds." Han Yue turned off the speakerphone and covered the receiver.

“Okay, I’ll pick them up tomorrow,” Rong Yan agreed.

Han Yue looked at her grandsons and gave them an OK sign.

Knowing that their mother had agreed, the children jumped up and said, "Great! Thank you, Mom! Grandma, hang up the phone quickly, we need to go back and get our clothes."

Rong Shimo held Han Yue's clothes and said.

"Did you hear that? The kids are so happy. Rongyan, I'll stop here for now. You and Jingsheng don't need to go home so early. I'll go get the clothes with them and come right over." Han Yue hung up the phone.

Rong Yan got out of the car.

Fu Jingsheng was smoking outside the factory gate. When he saw his wife, he stubbed out his cigarette and went over to her, saying, "Wife."

"I just called Mom, and Xiao Lei and the others are staying at her place," Rong Yan reported to her husband immediately.

"Great, we can have some alone time again." Fu Jingsheng didn't think at all that the child might disturb his mother.

“Yes, but Old Deng isn’t a biological grandfather after all. If we take four children away at once, won’t he have a problem with Mom? He won’t take care of his own grandchildren and will only help take care of other people’s children.” Rong Yan, who writes books, naturally knows that whenever there is a stepfather or stepmother in a family, there are always more conflicts than with the original couple, especially when it comes to children.

Fu Jingsheng laughed and said, "What kind of thinking is that? Old Deng's grandson is abroad. Even if he wanted to take him, he couldn't. When you get old, you just want your children to be around you. Maybe he should thank Xiao Lei and the others. It's so nice to have kids around to keep you company."

“That seems to make sense. I was too narrow-minded. My thoughts were stuck on the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.” Rong Yan reflected on herself. “Before, when Xiao Lei and his family were going to stay at my mother’s place, I was always afraid that it would upset Uncle Deng and affect his relationship with my mother.”

"Is there a misunderstanding? Uncle Deng just mentioned to me that I could leave the kids with them. Now the training center is on track, they've hired teachers and administrators, so he and Mom have much less to do. With the kids around, it's lively and fun." Fu Jingsheng had only casually heard this at the time and hadn't taken it to heart. It seems that Old Deng genuinely likes the kids.

"Besides, Xiao Lei and the others aren't the naughty type. Apart from mealtimes, they shouldn't cause any trouble for them." Fu Jingsheng knows his children quite well.

"Okay." Rong Yan was completely convinced.

The children, having retrieved their clothes, asked their grandmother to lock the door from the inside, in case their mother changed her mind and came to pick them up.

Han Yue ruffled her grandson's hair: "Silly child, what nonsense are you talking about? I won't go back on my promise to you. If I do, Grandma is here for you."

"That's good." Fu Yunlei was finally relieved.

Old Deng made double-skin milk pudding and egg tarts himself, saving them for the kids to have as a late-night snack.

In the evening, after playing with the pets for a while, Old Deng asked his grandsons if they wanted to play chess.

The Fu brothers are chess masters. Usually, when their parents are busy, the two brothers play chess. Now that Grandpa Deng has suggested it, it's a good opportunity to change opponents.

The two children were eager to challenge Old Deng to a duel.

Old Deng honed his chess skills after retirement. He had heard from Han Yue that her two grandsons could play chess, so he decided to cater to their interests.

Unexpectedly, he was beaten so badly that he was powerless to fight back, and a lot of his hair was pulled out in the process.

Han Yue was worried that Lao Deng would have a heart attack, so she told the children to play something else. She plugged in the game console and wanted to play Super Mario with her grandson.
