Chapter 526 Extra (26) Afraid of Disdain

"Are you worried that Rong Yan and the others will overthink things?" Old Deng saw right through Han Yue's thoughts.

“Well, I don’t want to hide it from you. Rong Yan and the others call you Uncle, and Zhou Luo has changed his address to Dad. Old Deng, don’t misunderstand. It’s not that I don’t want them to call me Dad, it’s just…” Han Yue lowered her eyes.

“I understand. After all, we’ve only been married a short time. It’s really not good for them to call me Dad now. I was also surprised that Jingchen and the others changed their way of addressing me. I should have told them to call me Uncle. It would be awkward for them to call me Dad.” Old Deng felt that only he could say such things.

If Han Yue tells the story, the children might have objections.

"It's not good to say that, they'll think you don't treat them like family. Let's leave it at that for now, and we'll figure something out if Rongyan and the others have any objections." Han Yue rubbed her temples.

——

In the Northwest, Rong Bing finished drying the grain and rested in the yard. She scrolled through her phone and came across a video of Fu Jingchen and Zhou Luo's wedding.

The woman straightened up, zoomed in for a closer look, and it really was them.

She pressed her hand to her chest, then smiled bitterly and muttered to herself, "Rong Bing, why are you still emotional? Wasn't their marriage something you expected?"

The camera panned across the main table, and Rong Bing saw Rong Yan and the others.

“That’s true. Fu Jingchen is Fu Jingsheng’s younger brother after all. How could Rong Yan and the others not attend? Fu Jingchen is probably more important to Rong Yan than herself,” Rong Bing consoled herself.

Lin Feng called at just the right time.

Rong Bing and Lin Feng have known each other for half a year, but so far they have only chatted online.

"Hi, Rong Bing." Lin Feng greeted her with a smile, just like every time before.

"Hi, Lin Feng," Rong Bing said listlessly.

"What's wrong? You don't seem to be in a good mood? Tell me, who bullied you? I'll stand up for you." Even though it was just a phone call, Lin Feng could immediately tell from Rong Bing's tone that the woman was in a bad mood.

"It's not bad at all," Rong Bing denied.

"Impossible, you didn't sound like that before. Tell me, what happened? I'll help you sort it out," Lin Feng said with concern.

"I just feel inexplicably down. Women, you know, can be in a bad mood at any time," Rong Bing said, making an excuse.

"I get it, I get it, sister. Want to go out for dinner? It's on me." Lin Feng realized he had come to the right place.

"Huh? Where are we going to eat?" Rong Bing remembered that Lin Feng was in Liangcheng, which was quite far from the Northwest.

"Aren't you at Hanlin? What a coincidence, I'm here on a business trip today. If you have time, I'll treat you to dinner." Lin Feng had clearly made a special trip, but he was afraid that Rong Bing would feel pressured if he said that, so he deliberately said it was a business trip.

"Really?" Rong Bing found herself very happy to hear that Lin Feng was also at Hanlin.

"Really, let's start a video call." Lin Feng switched to a video call.

The man stood beside the Hanlin County government building: "You're not lying, are you?"

"I'm not far from there, how did you get here?" Rong Bing asked, seeing the familiar place.

"I came by plane, but I rented a car. Is it for a business trip? Having a car is convenient. Shall I pick you up?"

“Okay.” Rong Bing agreed without hesitation.

For the past six months, neither of them had mentioned meeting, perhaps they were just waiting for an opportunity, but now the opportunity has arrived.

Rong Bing found herself not wanting to refuse; in fact, she hoped Lin Feng would take the initiative to suggest meeting.

It's only about ten kilometers from the county town to where she lives, and it takes about twenty minutes to get there.

After hanging up the video call, Rong Bing quickly changed her clothes and put on exquisite makeup.

She completely forgot about Fu Jingchen's wedding, her mind filled with thoughts of what the real Lin Feng would be like. Would Lin Feng see her and think she was different from the one in the video? Would he look down on her?

Like Rong Bing, Lin Feng also thought a lot.

The two had video chatted many times and exchanged photos, but the internet is different from reality. He wondered if Rong Bing would look down on him, even though he always showed up without any filters.

The man was filled with anxiety. If this meeting didn't go well, the two of them wouldn't even be able to remain online friends.

Thinking of this, he hesitated. Lin Feng parked the car on the side of the road and mentally prepared himself. Even if Rong Bing didn't like him, he still had to meet her. Otherwise, the longer they were online friends, the more reluctant he would be to let go if they didn't get along in person. He might as well see what she thought now.

After six months of online dating, it's time to meet in person.

He tidied his hair again in front of the mirror.

Once he was less nervous, the man started the car again.

The closer we got to our destination, the more desolate it became, with loess slopes all around the car.

Lin Feng could hardly believe that Rong Bing, who had lived in Jiangnan since childhood, could adapt to life here.

Half an hour later, the car arrived at its destination.

Rong Bing was already sitting at the door waiting.

Upon seeing the unfamiliar license plate, she knew it was Lin Feng, and the woman stood up with a smile.

Lin Feng got off the bus.

The two stood motionless, a few meters apart.

But their eyes were fixed on each other.

Rong Bing is slender and looks petite, which makes her seem pitiful. In the sunlight, her skin is so white that it reflects light.

Lin Feng is tall and well-proportioned with dark skin that gives him a healthy look. He always has a smile on his face, and his smile is very penetrating, making Rong Bing feel warm inside.

After a moment of silence, Lin Feng stepped forward and said, "Hello, Rong Bing, I'm Lin Feng."

Rong Bing responded: "Hello Raymond Lam, I'm Rong Bing."

Both of them could tell from each other's expressions that they didn't dislike each other.

“You’re prettier in person than in the video,” Lin Feng said.

“You’re more handsome than in the video, mainly because you’re taller.” Rong Bing gestured with her hand.

“Rong Bing, I’ve finally met you in person. I was worried all the way here that you might not like me, but I can tell from your expression that you don’t dislike me. I’ve come to see you. How are you feeling right now?” Lin Feng hadn’t forgotten about the woman being in a bad mood.

"Me too, I was worried you wouldn't like the real me. Seeing you're in a much better mood, you didn't come all this way just to see me, did you?" the woman joked. "You're too embarrassed to admit it, so you said you were on a business trip?"

The man scratched his head; at over 180cm tall, this gesture was actually rather endearing.

Then, he stammered, "You've seen right through me, so there's no way to hide it now. If I admit it, will people look down on me? If they will, then I won't admit it."

"What a coincidence that I had to go on a business trip, but I'm glad you could come." Rong Bing's lips were turned up in a smile.

Then Raymond Lam patted his head and said, "Seeing that you were a bit lost, I forgot to bring you something."

He went to the trunk and took out the gift.

A bouquet of flowers, a cake, and a small bag containing jewelry: "Nice to meet you, please accept these."

This man is very particular about rituals, and Rong Bing has always had a good impression of him. Even when they don't meet, Lin Feng will always order flowers for her takeout on holidays.

Rong Bing herself felt embarrassed: "But I didn't know you would come, so I didn't prepare anything. There aren't any flowers in the yard this season. Otherwise, I'll give you some corn."
