Chapter 105 Bai Nuo Gets Beaten, Hu Mingmei's Fury

Although Jiang San Niang felt sorry for Yu Ziqing's current situation, she was very clear that Bai Nuo was the most innocent one. After coming here, what else did she not understand?

Because her future mother-in-law disliked her, she targeted her in every way, as well as the people around her. Since Bai Nuo was so close to her, they vented their anger on Bai Nuo.

Bai Nuo is the most innocent one.

"Tell me, how did Bai Nuo hit your mother?" Jiang San Niang forced herself to ignore Yu Ziqing's situation and asked coldly, "What evidence do you have to prove that Bai Nuo did it? Don't you know that Bai Nuo is my friend? How could you treat her like this?"

Yu Ziqing's face was flushed, and the veins on his forehead and neck were clearly visible. He gritted his teeth and said, "On the day Duobaoge opened, June 26th, my mother and Yue-mei were just coming back from buying groceries. They went in for a quick look and were beaten!"

Whether he was actually beaten or not, Yu Ziqing didn't actually see it; it was all told to him by his wife.

Upon hearing that his mother had been beaten, he, as her son, immediately went to find Bai Nuo.

The scene was noisy, but Hu Mingmei only had eyes for Bai Nuo. He tried to pick her up, saying, "I'll take you back. Lu Ying will handle things here!" But before he could pick her up, Bai Nuo reached out and stopped him, gasping for breath, "Don't touch me! Let me rest for a bit, it hurts!"

When Hu Mingmei didn't move her, she was fine lying on the ground, but as soon as he moved her, she felt pain all over her body.

"Okay!" Hu Mingmei quickly put Bai Nuo down, withdrew his hand, and helped Bai Nuo find a more comfortable position. "Does it hurt like this?"

"A little better..."

Jiang San Niang was very disappointed after hearing Yu Ziqing's words. This man was always like this, only listening to his mother and never thinking about what kind of person his mother was, what she would say, or what she would do.

"Bai Nuo didn't hit your mother, nor did he hit your sister Yue. You've misunderstood!"

"Son, don't listen to her! Give her a good beating! She helped others beat me that day, and she was there when they were beating me!" Old Mrs. Yu shouted, pointing at Jiang San Niang.

"Can you stop being so unreasonable!" Jiang San Niang shouted at Granny Yu. This was the first time she had ever yelled at Granny Yu like this. "Aren't you ashamed to spout such nonsense? Who hit you? So many people saw it that day. Everyone saw whether we hit you or not! Your son can't even protect himself now, and you still want to mess with me!"

Then, Jiang San Niang looked at Yu Ziqing and sneered, "I was indeed there on the day Duobao Pavilion opened. I went to help. Do you know why I abandoned my own business to help? Because I gave you all my money in exchange for this house, and I was short of funds. Bai Nuo lent me the money. She has been kind to me, and I couldn't not help. As for your mother and your sister Yue, they went into the store when it opened and tried to take away twenty or thirty taels of their goods. Who do they think they are? Why should they get such expensive things? Bai Nuo only said that they could have the goods, but they had to pay."

Jiang Sanniang paused, forcing back the tears welling up in her eyes before continuing, "They want not just one portion, but two!" As she spoke, her gaze lingered on Zhang Jiyue, a mocking smirk playing on her lips. "So greedy, they don't even know if they're worthy!"

Zhang Jiyue trembled under Jiang Sanniang's icy gaze, and tears streamed down her face as if they were free. She wanted to rush to Yu Ziqing's side, but she was afraid of Lu Ying, so she trembled all over and stammered, "Sister Sanniang, it's okay if you don't like me, but why did you say that to me? I only see Ziqing as my brother, please don't misunderstand."

"Did I say anything to you? Why are you so eager to admit it?" Jiang Sanniang sneered. "I'm not entirely wronging you, am I? Dare you say you didn't take their things?"

"That old woman!" Zhang Jiyue was so angry at Jiang Sanniang's relentless pressure that she gritted her teeth and trembled even more violently.

“I didn’t take her things!” Zhang Jiyue said, her eyes red and her voice choked with sobs. “We were just curious and heard that things there were very expensive, so we all wanted to go and take a look. Neither my aunt nor I took anything from her, but why did she hit us? Third Sister, you are Ziqing’s future wife, how could you side with an outsider?”

Jiang San Niang saw everything that happened that day, but she never expected that Zhang Ji Yue would be so shameless and so capable of distorting the truth.

Seeing that Jiang Sanniang was too angry to speak, Bai Nuo took deep breaths, afraid that Jiang Sanniang would faint from anger. So, he patted Hu Mingmei and said softly, "I'm much better. Let's go back?"

"Alright!" Hu Mingmei nodded, picked up Bai Nuo, and said coldly, "Alright, stop arguing. Since it's unclear, let's report it to the authorities, Xia Donglai!"
