Chapter 113 The Secret of the Pearl Revealed

"Now I can tell you!" Bai Nuo laughed, stopping in front of the fishpond. "Your job is to watch over this fishpond and prevent anyone from going in."

"What's in this fishpond?" Long Yi wasn't stupid. Although he didn't know what was down there, he understood that what Bai Nuo was willing to have three people guard it day and night must be something that Bai Nuo valued highly.

“Fish!” Bai Nuo said calmly, “The fish we usually eat! There are also shrimp, snails, and old river clams.”

Long Yi looked at her suspiciously, clearly not believing her.

“And pearls!” Bai Nuo said in a deep voice, “the kind of stuff I’m selling right now! They’re all here!”

"Pearl?" Long Yi's voice trembled. "Miss...you're not kidding me, are you?"

"No! The source is right here, it's all here!"

Long Yi stared at Bai Nuo in shock.

Lu Ying whispered to Xia Donglai from behind, "His reaction is really bad, much worse than ours." When he and Second Master learned that Pearl was with Bai Nuo, they were only slightly surprised, not particularly astonished.

Was he really that surprised?

"You've been searching for a single bead for so long!" Xia Donglai looked at him coldly. "If the girl hadn't told you, would you have known?"

Lu Ying said, "I don't know. Who would know? Nobody would expect the item to be with Miss Bai."

"Then how dare you talk about others like that!?" Xia Donglai glanced at him again.

Lu Ying's words suddenly disappeared from his throat, and he couldn't say a word. He felt like he had been looked down upon by Xia Donglai!

Does he mean that he can't find anything, so he has no right to criticize others?

But...but...why can't I say it?

Lu Ying wanted to retort, but Xia Donglai had already looked away, and Lu Ying had no chance to speak.

Because Xia Donglai simply didn't want to listen to him.

Ugh! I'm so angry!

Bai Nuo laughed and said, "What? You don't believe me?"

"A little!" Long Yi looked at Bai Nuo and asked, "Did all the pearls come from this fishpond?"

“No…” Bai Nuo shook her head. “This is just a transit point. I brought them back from elsewhere and am just keeping them here…”

Long nodded, utterly shocked. This fishpond was so big, how many pearls must there be?

No wonder she can open a shop.

"Wait a minute, let me show you what they look like. Pearls don't grow in ponds!" Bai Nuo said, then rolled up his trousers and went into the fishpond.

Long Yi didn't know what Bai Nuo was planning, but seeing that Lu Ying and Xia Donglai didn't react at all, he held back.

Bai Nuo went down into the fishpond and fished around in the water for a while, but he didn't catch anything. He had no choice but to call Lu Ying down and go ashore himself.

Lu Ying was much faster than Bai Nuo, and quickly scooped the clam up. Bai Nuo held the clam up and said to Long Yi, "This is the thing with the pearl. This is what you want to see."

Long Yi looked at the lump of mud in Bai Nuo's hand and said nothing.

Bai Nuo slammed the clam to the ground with force. After two or three slams, the clam opened, and Bai Nuo dug out all the pearls in front of Long Yi—luckily, they were red pearls.

Bai Nuo couldn't help but wonder if her fishpond was specifically for producing red pearls?

"Here, that's it!" Bai Nuo placed the pearl in Long Yi's hand, then introduced it to Long Yi again before the group returned together.

The next morning, Bai Nuo returned with Lu Ying and the other two. Long Yi had to make a handover with Long Er and the others, so he made another trip. When Long Er and Long San found out that the fishpond they had dug had pearls, their expressions were the same as Long Yi's.

However, these three people were not jealous of Bai Nuo. They had no conflict of interest with Bai Nuo, and they didn't want to do business. They just wanted to make money honestly.

So after their initial surprise, Ryuichi's two younger brothers quickly got to work.

Bai Nuo had just sat down in the shop when he was greeted by an acquaintance—Zhang Wu, and his sister, Zhang Jingwen.

When the two of them came in, Bai Nuo was talking to Hu Mingmei.

Zhang Wu had never met Hu Mingmei before. His first reaction upon seeing Hu Mingmei was that this might be the behind-the-scenes manager Bai Nuo had mentioned. However, Zhang Wu didn't rashly ask Bai Nuo. He simply smiled and asked, "Manager Bai? Your Duobao Pavilion found someone to help you so quickly?"

Bai Nuo was speechless. How did the news that Duobaoge was recruiting become such a big deal? They weren't a big store, so why did it feel like everyone was paying attention to them?

"Where did you hear that our shop is hiring?" Bai Nuo came out, invited Zhang Wu and his sister to sit down at the table, and then served tea—newly bought good tea. To elevate the shop's image, Bai Nuo had changed all the tea in the shop.

“Yesterday, my three workers said goodbye to me, and the brokers also came to tell us about your recruitment situation,” Zhang Wu said with a smile.

Bai Nuo wondered if Zhang Wu was telling her that the people from the brokerage firm were their people.

Seeing that Bai Nuo was just smiling and not saying anything, Zhang Wu looked around and, not seeing the Long brothers, couldn't help but ask, "Aren't the three people who left from my place here with you?"

"They're here, but not in the shop. I sent them home to take care of my grandma!" Bai Nuo admitted frankly. There was no point in hiding this kind of thing, and there was no need to hide it from someone like Zhang Wu.
