The more anxious they are, the more they cause trouble.
Hu Mingmei quietly ate the breakfast Bai Nuo brought her, without saying a word. She neither called anyone in nor asked anyone to leave, letting them make a fuss at the door. Seeing that Hu Mingmei was eating with relish, Bai Nuo smiled slightly and then said, "Lu Ying, let them in!"
Don't say she's unkind, but she just wanted Zhang Jingwen to see how Hu Mingmei treated her and Zhang Jingwen herself, so that she wouldn't come looking for Hu Mingmei every day and wouldn't leave no matter what, which was incredibly annoying.
Zhang Jingwen felt somewhat uncomfortable when she heard that it was a woman who invited her in, not Hu Mingmei. However, the thought of being able to come in, see Hu Mingmei, and let Hu Mingmei eat the breakfast she had made instantly replaced her discomfort with joy.
She slapped Lu Ying's arm, raised her chin, and looked at Lu Ying with a haughty air. "Did you hear me? Young Master Hu is letting me in. Aren't you going to move aside?"
Lu Ying really wanted to say that it was Bai Nuo, not the Second Master, who let you in, but seeing Zhang Jingwen's expression, she didn't want to remind her and silently stepped aside.
As soon as Lu Yingyi stepped aside, Zhang Jingwen's face lit up with a sweet smile. She straightened her clothes and entered with elegant steps, "Second Master..."
Although I don't know why Lu Ying calls Hu Mingmei "Second Master," since everyone around Hu Mingmei calls him that, I might as well follow suit.
Zhang Jingwen's sweet voice stopped abruptly upon seeing Bai Nuo, and she exclaimed in shock, "What are you doing here?" Shouldn't Bai Nuo be far away from Hu Mingmei?
Bai Nuo turned to look at Hu Mingmei, who was eating breakfast and didn't even glance at Zhang Jingwen. So, Bai Nuo looked at Zhang Jingwen, a blush creeping onto her cheeks, and said, "I've come to bring breakfast to Second Master!"
Zhang Jingwen was meticulously dressed today, wearing a light pink gown over a white gauze robe, revealing her graceful neck and clearly visible collarbones. The skirt shimmered as if flowing with light, making her posture even more graceful. Her long black hair was tied up with a ribbon and adorned with a butterfly hairpin, with a strand of hair hanging down in front of her chest. She wore light makeup, and the faint blush on her cheeks created a delicate and lovely effect, as if her skin were as tender as flower petals. She also carried a peach wood food box in her hand.
Hearing Bai Nuo's words, Zhang Jingwen almost lost her balance, and the food box in her hand nearly fell to the ground.
"You...you...didn't you promise me?" Zhang Jingwen stared at Bai Nuo for a long time before finally finding her voice. In order to meet Hu Mingmei today and impress him so that he would take a second look at her and discover her good qualities, Zhang Jingwen didn't even bring any tea. She prepared breakfast and hurriedly took the carriage here.
Who knew that this bitch would still be clinging to Hu Mingmei! And what about the money she gave her...?
What a scammer!
Hu Mingmei had finished breakfast in a short while. Seeing this, Lu Ying quickly came in and went to the side to get Hu Mingmei a teacup and a basin for rinsing her mouth. After rinsing her mouth, Hu Mingmei took the teacup, wiped her mouth with a towel, and then asked, "What did you promise them?"
Bai Nuo looked at Hu Mingmei with some unease and murmured softly, "I've already told you, it's just..."
Bai Nuo didn't finish his sentence before Zhang Jingwen interrupted him, shrieking, "Young Master Hu, you don't know! This woman is incredibly greedy. She sold you out for a thousand taels of silver!"
"Oh?" Hu Mingmei finally looked at Zhang Jingwen properly. Zhang Jingwen was so excited that she immediately showed her best smile to Hu Mingmei, nodded affirmatively, and gave Hu Mingmei an elegant curtsy. "That thousand taels of silver was given to her by me. She promised that she would leave you and would not have anything to do with you!"
She wanted to show Hu Mingmei what kind of person Bai Nuo was. She was determined to expose Bai Nuo's true colors to Hu Mingmei so that Hu Mingmei wouldn't be deceived!
"Why did you give her a thousand taels of silver?" Hu Mingmei seemed confused and asked again.
This question made Zhang Jingwen blush, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at Hu Mingmei for even a moment.
"Why?" Hu Mingmei asked again when Zhang Jingwen remained silent.
Zhang Jingwen raised her head, looking at Hu Mingmei with a coquettish and shy expression, and whispered, "Because I also like you, young master. You deserve someone better. This kind of person is not suitable for you. It's better for her to leave you as soon as possible, so as not to delay your future!"
The better person refers to Zhang Jingwen herself, while the unsuitable person is Bai Nuo.
This was the first time Zhang Jingwen had expressed her feelings to Hu Mingmei. Although the occasion was a bit inappropriate, Zhang Jingwen was so nervous that her heart was pounding. After she finished speaking, she lowered her gaze and looked at the hem of her skirt.
But after saying that, I couldn't help but wonder if my outfit today looked okay. I wondered if Hu Mingmei would find it offensive.
“But I think she’s right for me!” Hu Mingmei’s voice rang out calmly. “I like her just the way she is! She’s easy to take care of!” And she’s quick and efficient at work, though Hu Mingmei didn’t say that.
Zhang Jingwen looked up at Hu Mingmei in shock, and said speechlessly, "Young Master, but she sold you... But she sold you!"
"It's alright!" Hu Mingmei said calmly. "No matter where she sells me, I will return to her side, because I can't live without her!"
As Hu Mingmei spoke, he took Bai Nuo's hand, brought it to his lips, and gently kissed it, saying affectionately, "She is the love of my heart. Wherever she is, I am there, until death do us part!"
