When the women said they wanted to leave, Bai Nuo didn't hesitate and immediately saw them off politely. Once they were gone, Bai Nuo looked at Qinghe and asked, "Didn't Second Master come?"
"I'm here!" Just as Qinghe was about to speak, Hu Mingmei's deep voice rang out from outside the door. Then Hu Mingmei walked in, looked at her, and said, "I've already sent those two to follow them, so don't worry."
Bai Nuo nodded. She didn't think those people were definitely there to cause trouble, but she just thought it was a hassle. In any case, an accident is always a very troublesome thing. The reason she called Hu Mingmei over was because when she first saw that woman's appearance, she was afraid that they would come and smash the shop. She and Qinghe, two women, couldn't handle several tall and strong women.
"It's good to find out what's going on!" Bai Nuo said with a smile, her brows not showing much worry. She pulled Hu Mingmei behind the counter to sit down before saying, "You're from the capital, you know a lot of people, do you have any way to help me find someone?"
Hu Mingmei looked at Bai Nuo with a puzzled expression.
Bai Nuo smiled and described the characteristics of the person she was looking for.
“I know someone, but I don’t know if he’s still in the capital!” Hu Mingmei thought for a moment before saying, “I’ll write to him after this matter is settled.”
Bai Nuo nodded.
Meanwhile, Lu Ying and Xia Donglai had been following those women ever since they left. Both of them were former bodyguards, highly skilled in martial arts and also excellent at tracking. Following a few women was a waste of their talents. Although the women had left first, they had already memorized their features before leaving, and thus caught up with them effortlessly.
"Wait a minute, are they heading out of town?" Lu Ying looked in the direction they were going, then looked back at the road they had traveled, confirming that they were heading in the opposite direction.
This town isn't very big, but because it's close to the prefecture, it's not small either, and it's quite wealthy, with a large influx of people from other places.
But those women, judging from their words, were clearly permanent residents of this town.
Why did we suddenly leave the town?
"Maybe they live outside of town. Look at our girls, they run a shop in town but live in a village near the town. They might be from a nearby village. It's normal for them to come to town to buy things!" Xia Donglai said casually. "Look, they're getting on the carriage!"
Lu Ying and Xia Donglai followed them until they reached the entrance of the town. However, it wasn't the one Bai Nuo usually used; it was a different entrance. The town was interconnected in all directions, with two entrances, one in the south and one in the north. The one in the south was called the entrance, and the one in the north was called the exit.
However, some people go in and out of both places.
They are now walking towards the entrance.
Once you step out there, it's a long village road.
Lu Ying and Xia Donglai stood not far away watching them.
The women helped the pretty woman into a gray carriage. The one who had been talking inside the curio cabinet glanced around cautiously after the woman got into the carriage, and only after making sure no one was following them did she order the carriage to leave.
Lu Ying and Xia Donglai exchanged a glance, then flew away together.
"Lost them?" After a while, Lu Ying and Xia Donglai appeared on the main road. Lu Ying looked at Xia Donglai with a puzzled expression, but saw the puzzled expression in his eyes.
This must be the first time they've lost track of someone, right?
The village road was shrouded in yellow smoke and deserted. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. To the left were rows of bushes, and to the right were paddy fields. The paddy fields were much lower than the road, so the right side of the village road became a wall. They looked at it and estimated that the earthen wall was about the height of a person.
"What do we do now?" Lu Ying said in frustration. Second Master told them to come out and follow the person, but instead of following them, they not only failed to catch up, but also lost them.
Xia Donglai stood there with a cold face, waiting for Lu Ying to finish complaining before asking, "Did you hear anything?"
"What's that sound?" Lu Ying listened intently for a while, but heard nothing. "No, where's the sound coming from?"
Normally there should be many people on the village road at this time, but today, for some reason, there are only the two of them on the village road, and no one else is seen.
There were no other sounds besides their voices.
"No, it really is!" Xia Donglai said with certainty, slowly walking towards the paddy fields.
"Hey!" Lu Ying quickly followed up and whispered in Xia Donglai's ear, "That's a cliff, are you planning to jump off it?" Although Lu Ying didn't hear any other voices, since Xia Donglai had said so, Lu Ying chose to unconditionally believe his brother's words, and his voice naturally lowered.
Xia Donglai glanced at him. What kind of cliff is this? Why the praise? It's just a small earthen wall. They've been down there before when they were carrying out missions.
We've already descended cliffs and precipices, what's there to be afraid of?
The two of them walked to the earthen wall, looked down at the paddy fields, and Lu Ying asked in a low voice, "Should we go down and help?"
Below, a horse-drawn carriage lay face down on the yellow earth, its back to the sky. It wasn't anyone's carriage; it was the one they had supposedly lost track of. It had crashed here, and the crops around it were bent and flattened. Around the carriage, four tall women lay with their eyes closed, seemingly unconscious.
