The large piece of fur was draped over his arm. Jiang San Niang glanced at it and saw faint bloodstains on it. Moreover, the fur was very intact, showing that it had been carefully crafted.
For a moment, Jiang San Niang was both moved and conflicted. Should she continue or not?
She could accept his offer, but she couldn't give him anything in return. Yet, if she didn't accept, she felt utterly bitter.
Lu Ying was unaware of the changes in Jiang San Niang's heart. Jiang San Niang neither reached out to take it nor spoke, so Lu Ying waited without urging him.
He thought, she is, after all, a woman. Even if she is the manager of a silk shop, she is still a woman. Women are naturally shy and it's normal for them to be timid.
Lu Ying was unusually understanding, so she didn't say anything.
Jiang San Niang was silent for a while before saying, "Take this fur back. I have plenty of such fine furs in my shop. Giving it to me would be redundant. Don't you have a girl here? Give it to her. Young girls all like these kinds of things!"
Seeing that Jiang San Niang refused, Lu Ying didn't ask anything. He simply withdrew his arm, gave a faint "oh," and then turned and left.
Seeing Lu Ying leave, Jiang San Niang smiled sadly on the spot, and then slowly walked into the courtyard.
While in the courtyard, Jiang San Niang did not see Lu Ying. A group of people were pointing and talking about the two wild boars, seemingly discussing how to cook them. Bai Nuo turned around and saw Jiang San Niang.
Jiang San Niang saw Bai Nuo waving at her and calling out, "Come quickly!"
Jiang San Niang didn't want her downcast mood to affect everyone on such a happy day, so she put on a bright smile and walked over.
Bai Nuo was extremely excited. This was the first time in her life she had ever seen a live wild boar, let alone one this big. Seeing Jiang San Niang approaching, she grabbed Jiang San Niang's hand and asked, "San Niang, San Niang, how do you think we should cook this wild boar meat to make it delicious?"
As a foodie, food was the only thing she could think of.
Jiang San Niang smiled and shook her head.
A moment later, Lu Ying also walked into the courtyard and stood behind everyone. Xia Donglai glanced at him and noticed that he no longer had the fur in his hand. He couldn't help but ask curiously, "Where's the fur you hunted?"
Lu Ying said calmly, her voice devoid of any inflection, "Put it away properly!"
"No way?" Xia Donglai exclaimed exaggeratedly as he looked at Lu Ying, "You don't actually want to wear a fur coat, do you?" This... how can a grown man act like a woman?
Isn't it effeminate to wear that fluffy fur coat?
Lu Ying didn't even glance at Xia Donglai, staring straight ahead, her gaze unfocused, and said in a nonchalant tone, "As long as it's warm!"
Bai Nuo and the others overheard the two brothers' conversation, and Bai Nuo couldn't help but ask, "What fur?"
Hu Mingmei shook his head, "Lu Ying killed a little fox, saying she was going to take it back to make clothes. I don't know what happened, I didn't ask!"
"Did you call me?" Bai Nuo asked Hu Mingmei.
Fur is very warm. If we could make a coat for Grandma, she wouldn't have to worry about the cold this winter.
Hu Mingmei nodded, not minding that so many people were present. She took her hand in her own and whispered, "How could I forget to get some for you? Don't worry, you and Grandma both have some!" Because of Bai Nuo, Hu Mingmei also kept Grandma in mind.
"Girl, how are we going to eat these two big pigs?" Aunt Liu walked over from the side and asked Bai Nuo. "These two big pigs will take a long time to eat, and I don't know how long they can be kept!" Although the weather is cold now, it's not extremely cold. If so much meat is left together, it will be a waste if we can't finish it!
Bai Nuo thought for a moment, "Why don't we kill one of them and sell it to the villagers?"
Everyone immediately nodded in agreement; it was indeed a good method.
So Bai Nuo immediately asked, "Who here knows how to slaughter pigs?" Although she was a good cook, she really didn't know how to slaughter pigs.
The group looked at each other, and Aunt Liu said, "How about I go to town and hire a butcher?"
“No need for all that trouble, we know how to butcher pigs!” The three Long brothers stepped forward.
Bai Nuo looked at them with some surprise.
Weren't they always working for the Zhang family? How did they get involved with the butcher?
Long Yi chuckled, "When we were young, a few of us were butchers, and we still keep our butcher knives at home!"
"Then I'll leave these two pigs to you!" Bai Nuo said with a smile.
"Okay, I'll go back and get the butcher knife now. You guys boil some water first!" Long Yi said, and immediately walked outside.
Long Yi rode back on a fast horse. Liu Da Niang had just boiled the water when Long Yi returned, with three gleaming pig-slaughtering knives tucked into his waistband.
Lu Yingxia, Dong Lai, and the others carried the two wild boars to the big banyan tree at the entrance of the village and placed them there. The wild boars, perhaps knowing they were about to die, were squealing desperately, which attracted many people to come and watch.
"Fool..." A villager wanted to ask Bai Nuo what was going on, but after saying just one word, he remembered that Bai Nuo wasn't foolish anymore, so he quickly changed his words, "Bai Nuo, where did this wild boar come from?"
Bai Nuo smiled and looked at Long Yi and the others who were sharpening their knives, "They were all caught by my shop friend!"
