Chapter 171 Imprisonment

All the guests present were looking at Granny Yu. Granny Yu had lived in the town for twenty or thirty years. Although many of the people present were younger than her, the past between Jiang San Niang and Yu Ziqing was well-known in the town. Therefore, the way the guests looked at Granny Yu and Jiang San Niang was quite meaningful.

Although the ex-husband didn't come, the ex-mother-in-law did. Today is Jiang San Niang's big day with her current husband. Could it be that the ex-husband couldn't bear to see Jiang San Niang get married, so he sent his own mother to ruin the occasion?

If we're talking about who had the biggest reaction at the scene, it would have to be Jiang San Niang. The moment Jiang San Niang saw Granny Yu, her head went blank and she was so angry that she could barely stand. Why did she come? Why did she come? Even after being separated for so long, did this old woman still refuse to let her go and try to ruin her wedding and embarrass her in front of Lu Ying?

Bai Nuo hurriedly walked towards Granny Yu. Jiang San Niang swayed slightly, tightly gripping Jiang Qiao'er's hand, almost digging it into Jiang Qiao'er's palm.

The matchmaker froze on the spot. Fortunately, having been a matchmaker for so long, she still had some professional skills. Seeing that Bai Nuo had gone out to handle the situation, she quickly said, "The couple bows to each other!"

The guests probably realized that staring at others like that was disrespectful to the bride and groom, so when the matchmaker's voice rang out, they turned their gaze away and watched the bride and groom bow.

Just then, Bai Nuo arrived at the door. As soon as he got close to Granny Yu, he smelled a sour odor on her. Bai Nuo couldn't help but frown. In the middle of winter, when the weather was cold and people wouldn't sweat, Granny Yu still smelled terrible. How long had it been since she had taken a bath?

That's why I've made myself look bad.

Bai Nuo didn't want to get close to her, but she also couldn't let her in and disrupt the wedding. The old woman was filthy from head to toe and looked crazy. Bai Nuo didn't want her to bring bad luck to Jiang San Niang.

When Jiang San Niang was still her friend, Bai Nuo didn't want Jiang San Niang to cause trouble for their family. Now that Jiang San Niang has become her older sister, Bai Nuo is even more unwilling to let anyone disturb Jiang San Niang's happiness.

So when Bai Nuo reached the door, he reached out and lifted up Old Lady Yu, who was bent over searching for something and muttering incoherently about her son. He said softly, "Your son isn't here. Come on, I'll take you to find him!"

Old Mrs. Yu's eyes lit up, and she said with delight, "Really?"

"Really!" Bai Nuo nodded, pulled her out, and escorted her all the way to Old Lady Yu's door. "Go inside, your son is inside."

It had been a long time since I'd visited Granny Yu's house, and it had become rather desolate. The road in front of the house was covered with snow from the past few days, as was the roof, which hadn't been swept at all. Along the roadside, one could vaguely see withered yellow weeds.

There was a missing piece at the threshold, and some of the white paint on the walls on both sides of the doorway had also peeled off. Looking at it like this, it was as if no one lived there.

Bai Nuo sighed softly. Without Jiang San Niang, the Yu family had truly fallen into ruin.

But what right do they have to treat Jiang San Niang like this?

Thinking this, Bai Nuo was even more unwilling to touch Old Lady Yu. The door of the Yu family was closed, so Bai Nuo went up and knocked on it. Unexpectedly, the door opened with a push. After the door opened, she turned around and saw Old Lady Yu staring blankly at her.

Bai Nuo pursed her lips and said softly, "Go in, your son is inside! Remember to close the door properly!"

"Hehe, son!" Old Mrs. Yu suddenly let out a strange laugh, startling Bai Nuo. Then, she suddenly started running and rushed towards the door, shouting, "Son, son!"

Bai Nuo watched as the old woman nimbly darted into the yard, and then heard Granny Yu anxiously calling out, "Son, son, where are you?"

Bai Nuo shook his head, turned and left. That was all the interaction they had. He didn't care about them.

When Bai Nuo returned to the Lu residence quickly, Jiang San Niang had already been taken to the bridal chamber. In the courtyard and the main hall, a grand banquet had already begun. Bai Nuo stepped through the door and said to the two servants, "If that old woman comes again, there's no need to let her in. Just kick her out."

Because Lu Ying had invited customers from the entire town, they didn't specify who could and couldn't come in today, so the two servants simply let people in.

"yes!"

"Bai Nuo!" Suddenly, an excited voice came from behind. Bai Nuo turned around and saw Li Jinyu standing at the door with Cui'er, looking at her excitedly.

Today, Li Jinyu wore an apricot-colored high-fronted dress embroidered with intertwined floral patterns, with a narrow waist and wide sleeves. She wore a matching cape and a single hair ornament on her head, making her look elegant and refined.

Bai Nuo stopped and smiled at her, "I thought you weren't coming today."

"How could that be?" Li Jinyu lifted her skirt and stepped across the threshold. "Third Sister said that I'm inviting your family's clients, so I'm practically one of your clients too, right? Where is Third Sister?"

"You're too late, Third Sister has already gone into the bridal chamber!" Bai Nuo said with a smile.

"Ah!" Li Jinyu covered her mouth and said with great regret, "Then I missed the ceremony? I wanted to give her the red envelope!"

"We'll make it!" Bai Nuo smiled. Not only Li Jinyu, but she herself missed the ceremony too. "We can go to the bridal chamber to find her, and then hand it over to her in person."

"May I?"
