"What do you mean? They're willing?" Chen Qiuling went straight back to her own room after leaving Bai Nuo's room. Bai Dalin was off today and was playing with his turtle in his room, poking it with a small stick while feeding it. The turtle had been teasing Bai Dalin so much that it had pulled its head back, but it still wanted to eat, so it simply didn't pull its head back and bit the stick in Bai Dalin's hand.
Hearing the door open, Bai Dalin threw the stick into the basin, turned to look at Chen Qiuling, and asked, "What did my mother say?"
Chen Qiuling's face was flushed, with what appeared to be a handprint, and her face was covered in tears. She was clutching two pieces of cloth in her hands, which Bai Dalin recognized as the ones Chen Qiuling had just taken out. His heart sank heavily. "They don't want to? My mother is determined to sue me?"
“Hmm…” Chen Qiuling nodded with tears in her eyes, put the cloth on the table, and took out ten taels of silver. “Your mother said that he can forgive you, but Zhi’er and I have to leave you.”
"That's too much!" Bai Dalin slammed his fist on the table, and the table shook with a "bang".
"What happened to your face? And why are you crying?" Bai Dalin then noticed the handprint on Chen Qiuling's face and that she had come back crying.
"I..." Chen Qiuling wiped away her tears. "My mother told me to leave you, but I didn't want to. I argued with her for a bit, and then she hit me." Chen Qiuling sat down at the table, supporting her forehead with her hand, and sobbed softly.
Bai Dalin felt extremely sorry for her. He walked over and lifted Chen Qiuling's chin, forcing her to look up at him. Her eyes and nose were red, and tears streamed down her face silently.
"My mother has gone too far! She's trying to ruin my life! You wait, I'll go find her for you!" Bai Dalin rolled up his sleeves and was about to rush out.
Chen Qiuling grabbed Bai Dalin around the waist and pressed her face against his back, saying, "No, don't go. I'm already grateful for how good you are to me."
"Bullshit!" Bai Dalin cursed directly. "If I let others bully you, how can that be considered being good to you? You wait, I'll be right back. I've never seen such a mother who can't stand to see her son do well. If she likes Jiang Wanyin, how could Jiang Wanyin come back to life? She's so old and confused!"
Bai Dalin pushed Chen Qiuling aside and then left.
Chen Qiuling was pushed down by Bai Dalin and fell to the side of the table. She watched helplessly as Bai Dalin left before she got up.

"Nono, from now on, you must close the door tightly when you take a bath or go to bed, okay? This place is not like when we were together, you have to be careful in everything you do, okay? Especially your stepmother, you can't trust her." No sooner had Chen Qiuling left than the old woman arrived.
"I understand." Bai Nuo nodded. Being with the old woman was the most relaxed time for her, and she became wooden again.
She thought to herself that her grandmother had wanted to tell her these things last night, but because of what happened last night, her grandmother probably thought she was too frightened to say anything and went to put her to sleep.
The old woman thought Bai Nuo hadn't understood because of his blank and wooden expression, and simply said, "Don't forget."
"What does Mother mean by this? Why can't Bai Nuo trust Qiu Ling?" Just as the grandmother and granddaughter were talking, the door was pushed open forcefully from the outside with a loud bang, and then bounced back. The two looked up and turned around, and saw Bai Dalin striding in from the outside, his face full of anger.
Bai Dalin stood against the light, tall and imposing. Although Bai Nuo's father ignored them, he was still incredibly handsome, but it was a shame that his face didn't live up to his good looks.
"Mother, what do you mean? Qiu Ling is my mother, the mother of both of them. Why can't we trust her?" Before Bai Nuo could finish her internal monologue, Bai Dalin had already come up to the old woman and looked down at her, questioning her.
"Because she's not a good woman!" The old woman had argued with her son several times because of Chen Qiuling, and she hated Chen Qiuling more and more. She struggled to her feet and said, "Ever since she came to our house, this is how you've treated me, how you've treated these two children. When Jiang Wanyin was still alive, when did we ever treat her like this?"
The old woman was overcome with grief. When her daughter-in-law was still alive, she was kind-hearted and her son was filial, and everything was fine. But after that woman came in, the family's life became chaotic.
Thinking this, the old woman spoke even louder, almost cursing, "She could let her son peep at Nuonuo taking a bath yesterday, and she can sell Nuonuo tomorrow. Nuonuo is honest; if she believed her, she'd be dead."
"Chen Zhi is Chen Zhi, and Qiu Ling is Qiu Ling. These two are not the same. What more do you want from Qiu Ling? Isn't she good enough? She gives you money and makes you clothes. Even if you don't like her, that's fine, but I like her. I originally thought that you would accept her for my sake, or at least treat her well. What did Qiu Ling do wrong that you wanted to hit her? She gave you money and still wants to be slapped! How could I have a mother like you? You like Jiang Wanyin so much, why don't you just die? Why don't you take both of them to find her?"
"You...you..." The old woman was so angry at Bai Dalin's disrespectful words that her face turned red and her chest heaved. She slapped him across the face. "You unfilial son!"
The good son she raised actually cursed her to die!
"If your mother is not good, how can your son be filial?" But before the old woman could hit Bai Dalin, Bai Dalin raised his hand to block her. Then, Bai Dalin pushed the old woman away, knocking her down. Bai Nuo never expected Bai Dalin to do this. He quickly reached out to block the old woman around the waist, but the momentum was too great, and Bai Nuo knelt down on one knee to stop the old woman.
Bai Dalin remained unmoved and said coldly, "If you want to sue me, go ahead. The dowry is gone, and Qiuling won't leave. If you're not satisfied, just pretend you don't have a son like me."
