Chapter 223 Clears Hu Mingmei of Suspicion

Just as Zhao Jinhu had predicted, they really couldn't handle Lu Ying. They couldn't even last three moves against him before being completely defeated.

"Who are you?" Zhao Jinhu asked through gritted teeth when he was captured.

"You dare to kidnap me, yet you don't even know who I am?" Bai Nuo walked up from behind, looking at him with a "don't be ridiculous" expression.

"Take him away, we'll talk about it when we get back." Seeing that Zhao Jinhu didn't say anything, Bai Nuo was too lazy to say anything more. Anyway, there would be plenty of time to talk when they got back.

Of the twenty guards, at least half came. When Hu Yi arrived, he also brought two carriages. Bai Nuo and Jiang San Niang got into the first luxurious carriage, and Lu Ying crammed Zhao Jinhu and the other four men into the last one, not caring whether it was cramped or not.

"We've finally caught them!" After the servants' voices rang out from outside the carriage, Jiang San Niang and Lu Yingcai spoke up. "Be careful during the interrogation. I won't go with you."

Bai Nuo nodded.

When they arrived in the courtyard, Bai Nuo put Jiang San Niang down, and her carriage headed in another direction. The carriage carrying Zhao Jin Hu also followed Bai Nuo's carriage.

Upon arriving at the courtyard gate, Bai Nuo alighted from the carriage. Since Bai Nuo had disembarked, Zhao Jinlai and the others naturally couldn't ride in the carriage either and had to follow. Zhao Jinlai and his men found the surroundings extremely dark, overgrown with weeds, and filled with the chirping of various insects, making the place feel even more desolate.

"Where is this?" Lu Ying had only tied their hands, but hadn't gagged them yet; they could still speak. One of Zhao Jinlai's brothers, looking at the desolate scene, couldn't help but say to Zhao Jinhu, "Brother, where is this? It feels like a haunted house. How come the Hu family has such a desolate place? Isn't this woman afraid of walking around? Could she be a ghost?"

Otherwise, how could they not catch her? If she wasn't a ghost, how could a woman not be afraid of a place like this?

"Don't talk nonsense!" Zhao Jinhu scolded in a low voice, subconsciously glancing at Lu Ying who was following behind Bai Nuo. Seeing that Lu Ying didn't react and seemed not to have heard Zhao Jinhu, he breathed a sigh of relief, but his heart was still pounding.

What's everyone talking about in the capital right now? It's the Hu family's affair. And the Hu family's affair is inextricably linked to them.

Zhao Jinhu was terrified that they would overhear. If they found out that the Hu family's affairs were also related to them, then they really wouldn't be able to leave.

Now, while they are unaware, we can still leave. Even if we are captured and taken to some unknown place, as long as they say they are dead and don't know anything, we will have a glimmer of hope.

That person agreed with the logic and quickly shut up.

Bai Nuo led Zhao Jinhu and his four companions to a dilapidated house. The men were frightened by the sight of the house, but they were even more frightened when they heard Bai Nuo say, "Sorry to have kept you waiting."

Who have been kept waiting?

Zhao Jinhu and the others looked at each other in bewilderment. It was pitch black inside, and it didn't look like anyone had left. Who was she talking to?

However, this man had walked the night countless times before, and although the situation before him was a little scary, it was far from enough to frighten them to death.

As they were pondering this, they saw Bai Nuo walk in, while Lu Ying stopped them all.

Lu Ying said, "Please wait until our lady turns on the lights before you go in."

The situation was getting increasingly strange. Zhao Jinhu and the others were on edge, their eyes fixed on the dark room inside.

They saw Bai Nuo walk in and then light a lamp with a blue flame burning in the middle.

Once the blue lamp was lit, the surroundings turned blue. However, after lighting this lamp, Bai Nuo did not light any more. Outside the lamplight, the area remained dark. The lamplight cast Bai Nuo's shadow long and eerie.

"Come in," Bai Nuo said to them as she lit the lamp and walked to the door. Upon hearing this, Lu Ying pushed them inside forcefully, then said to Bai Nuo, "Young Madam, the Old Master doesn't like to see me, and the Old Madam can't withstand my yang energy if there are too many people. I'll be leaving now."

Bai Nuo nodded, "Close the door, otherwise Grandma won't be able to stand the smell outside."

What yang energy? What grandmother? Who can't be exposed to yang energy inside? Could it be... you know? The men's hearts were pounding, and their legs felt weak.

Lu Ying slammed the door shut behind her. Bai Nuo looked at the closed door and said meaningfully, "Come in. The main reason I called you here today is that my grandmother has something she wants to ask you. But please breathe softly. My ancestor's soul is a little unstable and can't withstand such strong yang energy. Let's go. My ancestor has been waiting for you for a long time."

Seeing Bai Nuo turn around, but no matter what they did, they couldn't bring themselves to follow her. The eerie blue lamp, the strange atmosphere, and the strange words all pointed to the fact that they had entered a haunted house.

Although Zhao Jinhu and his gang were used to doing bad things, there was one person who was particularly afraid of ghosts and spirits. Upon hearing these words, he immediately burst into tears and shouted to Zhao Jinhu, "Second Brother, I'm not leaving! This place is so scary!"

As he spoke, the man turned and ran toward the door, but suddenly a gust of cold wind blew out the candle, and he was thrown back.
