Chapter 235 Poisoning

"That old woman is so easy to talk to now?" Hu Mingmei asked, but seeing Bai Nuo's expression, he knew he had let something slip, so he started apologizing again, "I'm sorry, Nuonuo, I didn't mean to keep it from you..."

Hu Mingmei's apology for this matter made Bai Nuo feel particularly sad, so she stopped Hu Mingmei from continuing and said, "You mean to say that you want to wait until you get the antidote, cure the poison in your body yourself, and then tell me, right?"

"Mmm!" Hu Mingmei smiled. "That's exactly what I meant. I don't want you to worry. I'm afraid I... I'm afraid I'll just die like this, or that I won't be able to cure the poison and disappoint you."

"You're afraid you'll die, afraid you won't be able to cure the poison, and that I'll be disappointed, right?" Bai Nuo started crying again. "But have you ever thought that if you find a place to suffer quietly, or if you find a place to face death quietly, I'll suffer even more?"

Seeing her cry, Hu Mingmei felt extremely sorry for her. He quickly hugged her and stroked her head, coaxing her, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's my fault. I promise I won't hide anything from you from now on, okay?"

Bai Nuo wasn't trying to blame Hu Mingmei, but seeing Hu Mingmei like this made her heart ache. "You said you couldn't do this again."

"Okay," Bai Nuo nestled in his arms, Hu Mingmei resting his chin on the top of Bai Nuo's head, his voice hoarse as he promised, "Husband, I won't do this again. With you and with the baby, I will live well and never die!"

Bai Nuo nestled in Hu Mingmei's arms, and Hu Mingmei held her close. The two of them simply enjoyed this moment of joy.

"Nono, Second Master..." The two embraced, seemingly oblivious to the time. Lu Ying rushed in, saw them hugging, and her words trailed off. She grinned, searching for something else to say, "I'm sorry, I didn't see anything."

Then he went out, dancing with joy.

That's great! Although we didn't get to speak with the Second Master, it's wonderful that he's regained consciousness. We need to tell Donglai, Doctor Sun, Granny Wang, and everyone in the courtyard.

Bai Nuo shyly stepped out of Hu Mingmei's arms. Being caught doing something so intimate made Bai Nuo feel a little embarrassed, but Hu Mingmei was different. He was thick-skinned, and seeing Bai Nuo so shy, his heart softened like water.

Reaching out to tidy Bai Nuo's slightly disheveled hair, Hu Mingmei asked softly, "Why are you still shy? We're husband and wife. If Lu Ying saw it, so be it."

Bai Nuo blushed and looked up, seeing Hu Mingmei's dark eyes filled with tenderness, filled with her image. She stammered an explanation, "He's my brother-in-law, it wouldn't be good if he saw us." But she couldn't quite put her finger on what would be wrong. She just felt that being seen by someone made her heart pound like a little deer.

"Are you hungry?" The atmosphere was far too ambiguous, and Bai Nuo couldn't stand it any longer, so she changed the subject. "Shall I get you something to eat?"

"Let's take a shower!" Hu Mingmei said, looking at her slightly exposed chest. "I'm so dirty."

Bai Nuo looked over and noticed that Hu Mingmei was a bit dirty. She had been so focused on crying that she hadn't noticed. Now, upon closer inspection, she saw a layer of dark, sticky stuff on Hu Mingmei's body. Although it wasn't thick, it was still clinging to her skin.

"Okay, I'll go and get someone to bring you water for a bath!" Bai Nuo got up and went out.

Hu Mingmei nodded and said with a smile, "Thank you for your trouble, Madam."

His gaze was so tender that Bai Nuo couldn't help but recall the time when Lu Ying had discovered their embrace earlier, and her face flushed again as she quickly left.

Not long after Bai Nuo left, Granny Wang came in with several servants, beaming with joy. When she saw Hu Mingmei lying on the bed, his complexion much rosier, she smiled broadly, as if it were New Year's Day. "That's wonderful! Second Master is finally better!"

Wang Mama didn't know that Hu Mingmei had only taken half of the antidote. Seeing that Hu Mingmei's complexion was much better than before, she assumed that Hu Mingmei was completely cured.

"Thank you for your concern, Granny Wang!" That's what Granny Wang thought, and Hu Mingmei didn't explain further.

"Now the master, madam, and princess can rest in peace!" Wang Mama wiped away her tears, directed the servants to pour hot water into the large bathtub, and then said to Hu Mingmei, "Second Master, go take a bath!"

"Thank you, Granny!" Bai Nuo came in from behind, carrying a tray with a large bowl of flour, a small bowl of pork, and a small dish of chopped green onions. "Granny, Second Master is all better now. You don't need to worry. It's late, go and rest. I'm here for you!"

"Yes, this old servant will go right away!" Wang Mama said with a smile. "Young Madam, thank you for your trouble!"

Bai Nuo shook her head with a smile. She was already very happy that Hu Mingmei could wake up. How could she talk about whether it was hard or not?

After watching Granny Wang leave, Bai Nuo turned around and saw Hu Mingmei looking at her. She couldn't help but smile and put down the tray she was holding. "Go take a bath quickly. I'll go get you some clothes. After you're done bathing, go to the small kitchen. I'll make you some wontons."

Hu Mingmei nodded, gave Bai Nuo a deep look, but didn't move. Bai Nuo smiled and said, "Okay, okay, I'll go with you, how about it?"

So she came up, took his hand, and led him towards the bathroom.
