Chapter 236 I Only Have Three Questions

Bai Nuo was shocked and exclaimed, "How could this be? Didn't my husband take the antidote? And he's perfectly fine!" If the poison hadn't been neutralized, why would Hu Mingmei be like this? She looked at Hu Mingmei's complexion, which was much better than before, even better than her complexion as a pregnant woman. If he wasn't normal, how could he have such a complexion?

Seeing that Bai Nuo was anxious, Hu Mingmei reached out and squeezed Bai Nuo's hand, signaling Bai Nuo to calm down, before letting Doctor Sun continue.

Seeing Bai Nuo's anxiety, Doctor Sun couldn't bear to continue. However, both Hu Mingmei and Bai Nuo had the right to know and understand Hu Mingmei's condition. "Second Master took half an antidote, not a whole one. If he had taken a whole one, the poison in Second Master's body would have been neutralized. But there was only half a one. Taking it only suppressed the toxin. Before, the poison roamed throughout Second Master's body, which is why he looked so unwell. Now, the poison is confined to one corner, so Second Master looks much better."

"What does it matter?" Bai Nuo asked, puzzled. As long as it can be suppressed, that's good enough. Didn't Doctor Sun give Hu Mingmei time to suppress the onset of the poison before? And Hu Mingmei has been safe and sound until now, just like before?

“It’s different!” Doctor Sun shook his head again. “The medicine I gave Second Master to suppress the imbalance in his body did not disrupt it. But this antidote is different. It has completely disrupted that balance. It’s suppressed now, but if it can’t be suppressed, Second Master will surely die.”

"Then why... why did you give it to him?" Bai Nuo burst into tears. The antidote she had worked so hard to get back had turned into poison.

“If he doesn’t eat!” Doctor Sun looked at Bai Nuo with a wry smile. “If he doesn’t eat, Second Master probably won’t make it to tomorrow morning.”

Hu Mingmei nodded; he had indeed sensed that his time was coming to an end.

"Alright, Nuonuo!" Hu Mingmei said softly, "Whether it's poison or antidote, as long as I can live one more day and stay with you all one more day, I will take it. Don't cry anymore. As long as I find the other half of the antidote, I will get better."

"Yes!" Doctor Sun nodded in agreement.

"Where is this poison now?" Bai Nuo wiped away her tears and collapsed into Hu Mingmei's arms, utterly dejected.

“In both legs!” Dr. Sun said.

"Thank you for your trouble, Dr. Sun!" Hu Mingmei didn't feel much of a strain. Although he knew his condition was worse than before, he had clearly tried and was able to easily pick up Nuonuo, which made him very happy. As for the future, he would deal with it step by step.

Dr. Sun shook his head. In truth, he was also quite disappointed. He and Hu Mingmei had been together for many years, and he had personally treated Hu Mingmei's illness. After so many years, he still had no way to cure Hu Mingmei's illness, which made him doubt his own medical skills and feel frustrated.

"There's one more thing I need your help with!" Hu Mingmei said calmly.

Hu Mingmei spoke seriously, and Doctor Sun immediately stood up, saying, "I will follow your orders, Second Master."

Bai Nuo found the relationship between Dr. Sun and Hu Mingmei strange. Sometimes they seemed like friends, but other times they seemed like superiors and subordinates.

"I need some drugs that can control people!" Hu Mingmei said, "The sooner the better!"

“That’s easy!” Doctor Sun readily agreed. As long as no one died, Doctor Sun’s bottom line wasn’t much higher than others. “Using Gu worms would be best! I happen to have a few Gu worms on hand. Let them reside in a person’s body, and that person will be obedient to the person who cast the Gu.”

“Okay!” Hu Mingmei nodded. This method was much better than he had thought. “Take them with you and come with me. I have something to take care of tonight.”

Behind him was another person whose height, weight, gender, name, and appearance were unknown, like a venomous snake waiting for the right moment to bite him.

His safety is not important, but he cannot allow this person to pose a threat to his wife and children.

Since he won't come out, I'll have to go find him myself.

Dr. Sun nodded hurriedly, turned and went out. He returned shortly after, and as soon as he loosened his sleeves, Hu Mingmei and Bai Nuo saw that Dr. Sun had a small brown box in his hand, from which they could hear faint animal crawling sounds.

Although she didn't know what the Gu worm looked like, Bai Nuo felt her teeth ache when she heard that sound.

She hates bugs the most.

Seeing that Bai Nuo seemed a little unhappy, Hu Mingmei said softly, "You stay here. I'll come back after I've finished taking care of things!"

Bai Nuo originally intended to stay with Hu Mingmei and see what would happen to those who treated her like a monkey, but the thought of those insects made her back down.

"Come back soon," Bai Nuo urged.

Hu Mingmei nodded, left with the words "Wait for me to come back" and went out with Doctor Sun.

Lu Ying and Xia Donglai also followed suit.

"Old Sun, tell me the truth, how much time do I have left?" After leaving the courtyard, the entire Hu family was quiet, so Hu Mingmei's sudden words seemed very abrupt.

Lu Ying and Xia Donglai were both very puzzled. What did Second Master mean by that?

"Alas!" Dr. Sun sighed deeply.

Hu Mingmei spoke again, his dark eyes fixed on the road ahead. Although the night was dark, Hu Mingmei's dark eyes shone brightly. "Now that Madam is not here, you don't need to hide it from me."
