Chapter 246 First Face-to-Face Meeting

dark.

Endless darkness.

This was Huang Haichuan's first feeling after waking up. His second feeling was that he seemed to be in an unfamiliar environment, with no sound around him.

Moreover, he was in pain all over his body, and his mind was filled with images of the moments before he fainted.

He was walking down the street when he suddenly felt a sharp pain all over his body, and then he lost consciousness. When he came to, he was already here.

Had he been kidnapped? That was Huang Haichuan's first thought.

But who kidnapped me?

Many people flashed through his mind. Having been in charge of the Hu family for over a decade, he wasn't without enemies. After much thought, he finally settled on two: his nephew Hu Mingmei and his brother-in-law. Hu Mingmei had taken out all the suffering he had endured over the past decade on him, so it wasn't surprising that he was causing trouble for him. His brother-in-law was the same; he loved his sister dearly, and Zheng Pei had been dealt with quite badly by him. His brother-in-law might very well kidnap him.

"Is anyone there?" The surroundings were silent, with only the buzzing of mosquitoes. Huang Haichuan was not only scared, but also couldn't stand being bitten by mosquitoes, so he started shouting.

"You're awake?" Huang Haichuan shivered at the sound of the voice. There was indeed a voice beside him, but it was hoarse and ghostly.

Huang Haichuan was startled. "Who are you? Why are you arresting me?"

The owner of the voice chuckled softly, as if he had heard a very funny joke, "Assassins capture people either for money or to kill them!"

Huang Haichuan's heart skipped a beat. He was doomed; he'd really run into a tough nut to crack. He'd been walking the dark side too many times, and now he was really in for a world of hurt! "Who sent you? I have money. You want money, don't you? Let me go, and I'll give you the money."

"Your idea is good, but it's a pity. They want me to take your head back to report!" The owner of the ghostly voice remained unmoved.

"I'll give you double, just say I rolled off a cliff, and then you can get three times the money!" Huang Haichuan said, his eyes covered, his face full of urgency.

"I'm a killer with principles! I don't do things that betray trust!" As the ghostly voice fell, Huang Haichuan felt a chill on his face, and then he was blinded by a sudden burst of light.

In the blinding light, he saw a bearded man who stared at him expressionlessly. Huang Haichuan heard the man say, "Since you've already seen what I look like, then I should send you on your way. I don't keep anyone who has seen my face here!"

Huang Haichuan was so angry that he immediately wanted to curse, "If you don't take off my blindfold, I won't be able to see your face! You insist on taking off my blindfold and you want to kill me, are you doing this on purpose?"

But before Huang Haichuan could utter a curse, a flash of cold light appeared before his eyes. Huang Haichuan tried to dodge, but when he actually tried to dodge, he realized that he was tied up and could not dodge at all. He could only resign himself to closing his eyes.

But the expected pain did not come. When he tentatively opened his eyes, he found that the person in front of him had changed. The bearded man was lying not far away from him, his eyes wide open, with a thin wound on his neck from which blood was oozing out—his life had been extinguished.

This person silently dealt with the bearded man, who died without even uttering a sound. Huang Haichuan stared in horror at the person in front of him, unable to even ask, "Who are you?"

This person is the most terrifying. Who is he? What is he doing here?

Just as Huang Haichuan had a feeling that "my life is about to end," the man attacked again, scaring Huang Haichuan half to death. He shouted at the top of his lungs, "Hero, spare my life! Hero, spare my life! Don't kill me! I can give you money! I can give you a lot of money!"

But the expected pain didn't come; instead, the ropes binding me came loose.

The man before him was masked, with only a pair of cold eyes visible. Huang Haichuan had experienced a brush with death in the short span of an incense stick's time, going from being terrified to overjoyed. This man exuded a chilling aura, but Huang Haichuan's excitement emboldened him. "Thank you, hero! Thank you for saving my life! May I ask your honorable name? I will repay you handsomely when I return."

This person looks like he has extraordinary skills. It would be best to recruit him to my side to protect me. That way, I won't be afraid of either Hu Mingmei or Zheng Lin.

"No need to thank me!" The man's voice sounded strange, but Huang Haichuan couldn't quite put his finger on it. He only heard the man say, "This was all arranged by the master. The master foresaw that you were in danger, so he sent me to rescue you. If you want to thank someone, go thank the master."

Upon hearing this, Huang Haichuan immediately understood. Although the man hadn't said who the master was, Huang Haichuan inexplicably knew who the master was.

Only that man would have so many experts surrounding him.

Huang Haichuan was truly moved. He was just a nobody by that person's side, yet that person remembered him and cared about his safety. It was truly touching.

"I am unworthy of such a great honor as to have troubled Your Majesty to think of me so much!" Huang Haichuan said with tears of gratitude.

The masked man snorted coldly, "It's one thing that the master cares about you, but I have something to remind you: you'd better clean up all those troubles you've caused. The master doesn't like so many burdensome people!"
