Chapter 257 The debt owed must be repaid!

When Hu Mingmei came out of the palace, it was already broad daylight. Everyone else was heading to the palace to attend court, but he was heading home.

Upon arriving home, Lu Ying was directing the servants to make mourning clothes. Seeing Hu Mingmei arrive, Lu Ying stood up and asked, "Second Master, how should Huang Haichuan's funeral be arranged?"

Finally, Lu Ying added, "Huang Wenbai and Qian Peilan are making a scene in their yard right now, saying they're going to report it to the authorities, but I stopped them."

Hu Mingmei glanced at the white expanse and said only, "Take all these things down. We're canceling the funeral. Also, don't let them disturb Madam!"

Lu Ying wasn't surprised that Hu Mingmei would say that. Hu Mingmei already hated Huang Haichuan for hurting Bai Nuo. Holding a funeral for him was just Hu Mingmei saving face. But now Hu Mingmei didn't care about that anymore and wasn't going to care about saving face, so of course she wouldn't hold one.

But what really surprised Lu Ying was Hu Mingmei's later words: "In addition, spread the news that their family framed my grandmother, move them from that big courtyard to the side courtyard, and say that I spared their lives because Huang Wenbai is my grandfather. This is the evidence!"

As Hu Mingmei spoke, he handed Lu Ying two sheets of paper filled with writing. Lu Ying took them with a puzzled look, flipped through them, and was filled with shock.

They had their eyes on the Hu family from the very beginning? They knew each other from the start? Was Huang Wenbai's marriage to Princess Yuru a conspiracy?

And Huang Wenbai is really too ruthless, isn't he? How could he even harm his own son?

Is it because the child wasn't born to a woman he liked that he disliked it so much that he wouldn't even give the child a chance to live?

Even tigers don't eat their cubs, so what is Huang Wenbai's heart made of?

"Second Master, why didn't you produce this evidence sooner?" After reading through all the documents, Lu Ying stuffed them into his pocket. If Hu Mingmei had produced the evidence earlier, wouldn't everything have been fine for the past ten years or so? Huang Wenbai wouldn't have been able to act so arrogantly.

"I just got it too!" Hu Mingmei said with a wry smile. "Go on, get it done as soon as possible! I don't want them jumping around in front of us anymore."

Seeing Hu Mingmei's unhappy expression, Lu Ying thought that he might have been given some difficulties by His Majesty, or that the news was particularly distressing. So he ordered everyone to take everything down.

Hu Mingmei turned and went back into the courtyard. She immediately went into the room and saw Bai Nuo leaning against the headboard reading a book. "Why are you up so early? It's still early. Why don't you sleep a little longer?"

Hu Mingmei's gaze fell on Bai Nuo's right hand. Now, the arm was stitched with needles and thread both front and back, winding and twisting like a centipede.

Bai Nuosheng's fair skin made the "centipede" appear particularly ferocious and ugly.

Hearing the sound, Bai Nuo put the book on her lap, smiled at him, and said, "You're back?"

"Hmm..." Hu Mingmei responded softly, walked to the clothes rack, took off his coat, sat down on the bed, stared at her hand, and asked, "I was busy with something last night, so I didn't come back to sleep. Does your hand still hurt?"

Bai Nuo moved over to the side of the bed, patted the bed board, and gestured for Hu Mingmei to lie down. This man had dark circles under his eyes; he definitely hadn't slept all night. "If you're free today, you can get some sleep!"

Bai Nuo could clearly sense that Hu Mingmei's emotions were not quite right. After Hu Mingmei lay down on the bed, Bai Nuo leaned over and lay down as well, gently looking at him and asking, "Don't you have anything to tell me?"

“I have!” Hu Mingmei spoke again, but his voice was extremely hoarse. “Huang Haichuan is dead. He died suddenly last night. I spent the whole night dealing with his affairs. I went to the palace just before dawn. His Majesty told me that my parents and grandmother died because of them!”

Bai Nuo looked at him quietly. They knew before that Princess Yu Ru's death was related to Huang Wenbai. This issue had been discussed before, but when Hu Mingmei brought it up again, it proved that there were hidden details she didn't know.

“When I entered the palace today, His Majesty told me that my grandmother was poisoned during childbirth. They knew each other beforehand, and Huang Wenbai married my grandmother for the status of Princess Yuru and her vast fortune. He never loved my grandmother. You tell me, it's one thing if he didn't love my grandmother, but why did they conspire to take the lives of my grandmother and father? I only just learned that my father also suffered from torment since childhood, and he never had a moment of peace until his death!”

Hu Mingmei choked up as he spoke, and Bai Nuo quickly hugged him, gently comforting him, "It's alright, it's all in the past. Now we have the family firmly under our control, and we can avenge our grandmother and in-laws!"

Hu Mingmei sobbed silently, turned over, and hugged Bai Nuo. Bai Nuo let him hug her and let him vent his emotions.

Hu Mingmei was probably too tired and too heartbroken, so he fell asleep soon after. When Bai Nuo saw that he was asleep, she quietly got out of bed and went outside.

When Mudan and the others saw her, they rushed over. "Young Madam, what do you need? We'll get it for you!" They felt extremely guilty that Bai Nuo had been injured in front of them, so they wished they could take care of everything for Bai Nuo, so that she could stay in bed all day.

"Go and gather all the servants here, and find Steward Lu. I have something for him to do!"
