Bai Dalin's actions were so forceful, his voice so angry, and his expression so ferocious that Bai Nuo and the others had never seen him like this before. Even Chen Qiuling had never seen this side of Bai Dalin. A Yu was so frightened that he burst into tears and ran over to his grandmother's arms, trembling as he looked at Bai Dalin.
Bai Yu often confronted Bai Dalin, but Bai Dalin always ignored him and disregarded him, at most kicking him a couple of times, but never did that.
It looked like a ferocious demon, and A Yu instinctively backed down, not daring to provoke it.
Chen Qiuling leaned against the door, arms crossed, and said coolly, "Dalin, why are you so angry? Keep your voice down. Bai Nuo didn't say she wouldn't give it to you!" Bai Dalin really startled her, but Chen Qiuling was still happy to see Bai Dalin so angry. As long as Bai Dalin's anger was directed at Bai Nuo and the others, that was fine. It would be best if he kicked Bai Nuo and the others out and severed ties with them.
This kind is the best.
Yes, she regretted it. She shouldn't have let Bai Nuo and the others move in again!
"Does she look like she's going to give it to me?" Bai Dalin shouted as he turned around. He was even angrier because of Chen Qiuling's words. He had been talking for so long and Bai Nuo had been saying no, no, she didn't seem to have any intention of taking out the bead for him.
He had already made arrangements with the person, so wouldn't it be a bad thing if Bai Nuo didn't give him the things?
"Father, it's not that I don't want to give it to you, but I really can't afford it!" Bai Nuo finally understood why Bai Dalin knew. It must have been the magistrate's daughter who told him, or Zhang Jingwen who told him. In that case, Bai Dalin was very likely working for one of these two women. The two women had argued over a bracelet, and after returning home, they probably told their families. Bai Dalin overheard this by chance and wanted to use the pearl to gain merit.
It has to be said that Bai Nuo was right about everything, but there was one thing that Bai Dalin didn't overhear by chance; someone else specifically asked Bai Dalin to find it.
"Really!" Bai Nuo said. How could she possibly take out the beads? She had already processed and sold them, and the money had been used to buy food. Bai Dalin didn't come here for money.
Of course, Bai Nuo wouldn't give the money to Bai Dalin.
She had gone through so much trouble to get this, and she didn't want to give Bai Dalin anything of it. Bai Dalin didn't even recognize the thing, yet he had made such a boast. As for how he would cover it up, that was none of her business.
"Liar!" Bai Dalin shouted. "Where did your beads go? I clearly saw them today. Even if you didn't know they were valuable, they were quite pretty. How could you have lost them?" She would have kept them even if she just wanted to play with them.
The old woman, who had been listening for a while, couldn't take it anymore. "Dalin, what beads? What are you looking for? We really haven't seen those kinds of beads before. If Bai Nuo had them, she would definitely have given them to you!"
"You still dare to talk back!" Bai Dalin was furious. Now he was ready to yell at anyone who spoke up. "It's all because of you that these two brats have become so rude. They don't even greet me when they see me. They have no respect for me at all!"
He saw A-Yu huddled in his grandmother's arms, trembling and looking at him. A thought suddenly flashed through his mind. He walked over, pulled A-Yu up, and pulled his grandmother away. "You all get out of my way, Mother. Did you put the bead here?" Then he lifted the quilt and started looking for it.
Not finding it on the bed, Bai Dalin bent down and searched under the bed. He didn't find the pearl, but instead picked up the basket that the old woman used to make clothes.
Bai Dalin tossed the basket onto the bed and continued searching. He found the cotton fabric and needles that Bai Nuo had bought to make clothes for her grandmother, as well as the fabric and needles that Bai Nuo had practiced making herself. Looking at the finished clothes and the unused cotton fabric, he immediately felt slighted. He put these things on the bed one by one, saying, "Clothes, cotton fabric, Mother, you have a good life!"
It's pitiful that he's been working himself to the bone outside, barely making ends meet. If he hadn't accidentally saved his employer's son, he would be a poor man now!
"You guys have such a good life!" Bai Dalin stood up, looking like he thought, "You're really something. Let me tell you, today you have to hand over this bead whether you want to or not!"
Bai Dalin grew angrier the more he looked at the things on the bed. He threw them all onto the floor, stomped his feet on them, and muttered, "You're living better than me! You've really gone too far!"
"Oh dear!" The old woman felt heartbroken when she saw Bai Dalin's condition. She ran over, pushed him away, picked up the clothes, and patted them to remove the dust, complaining, "What are you doing? These clothes are fine, they're wearable!" Is it easy to make clothes? It's exhausting.
"I'm telling you, Mother!" Bai Dalin continued to rip the clothes off the old woman's hands and throw them on the ground. "You must give me that bead today, or I'll never forgive you!"
The old woman paused, looked at Bai Dalin's unreasonable behavior, and fell silent.
"Oh, Bai Nuo..." Chen Qiuling walked over with a smile, put her hand on Bai Nuo's shoulder, and coaxed her gently with a smile, "Don't make your father worry. Look how anxious he is! You should listen to your mother and quickly take out that bead so as not to make your father angry!"
When Chen Qiuling spoke, she leaned close to Bai Nuo's ear, looking very intimate. However, her breath was blowing against Bai Nuo's ear, making Bai Nuo very uncomfortable. She gently pushed Chen Qiuling's hand away.
