"Dividing the family is impossible!" Bai Dalin gritted his teeth. "If you're thinking about dividing the family, then keep at it!" Bai Dalin was determined; he didn't believe Bai Nuo had the guts to kill someone!
Bai Nuo said calmly, "I've changed my mind about not separating. We're going to move out, and you can no longer interfere in anything we do, nor can you ask me for the beads!"
"The bead was indeed in your hands!"
Bai Nuo had no idea how Bai Dalin was focusing on the important points. "I told you I don't have the beads to tell you not to bother me with this anymore. If you agree, I'll open the door. If you don't, you can collect your woman's corpse!"
"Fine!" Bai Dalin roared, "You fucking open the door right now!"
Bai Nuo said quietly, "Go and find the village chief for me before I can open the door for you!"
"What is it now?" Bai Dalin was so annoyed that his hair stood on end. He had no patience left and was practically yelling at everyone. "Didn't I tell you it's okay?"
"I don't believe you!" With someone like Bai Dalin, Bai Nuo wouldn't believe a single word he said, not even a punctuation mark. If he said it was okay, then it was okay. What if he was just fooling her? She needed someone influential to be a witness.
"You've got guts! Just you wait!" Bai Dalin was filled with hatred.
"I learned it from you!" Bai Nuo retorted. "I'm already this tough, how could I dare to lose? Hurry up and go, or I'll change my mind."
Bai Dalin left in a hurry, but returned quickly. "Open the door, I've brought the person to you!"
Bai Nuo patted A Yu, waking him up so he could open the door, while she dragged Chen Qiuling to the side, her hands still firmly gripping the scissors.
The village chief was an elderly man in his seventies who had served as village chief for decades. He was highly respected and took many things in stride. However, when he opened the door and saw this scene, he was surprised. "What... what happened?"
"Village chief, my brat is about to kill someone! You'd better do something about it!" Bai Dalin accused the villain first.
"Don't be the one to accuse me first!" Bai Nuo mocked him. "Anyone with eyes can see that there's more to this than meets the eye. Why do you think it's my fault?" Bai Nuo briefly recounted the events, describing in great detail how Bai Dalin had hit her and pushed the old woman. "Grandpa Village Chief, I just want to find a way to make a living. It's not that I want to separate from the family, I just want to move out. I'm afraid they'll still harass me. Please come and be my witness."
They didn't live with Bai Dalin before, but since no one in the village knew, they moved out. It seemed like a minor incident, and other people just thought the Bai family had grown a bit bigger. They and Bai Dalin were still family. But if the village chief witnessed that they were living separately, and Bai Dalin went too far in the future, she could ask the village chief for help.
"How do you want me to witness this?" The village chief pondered for a moment. Bai Dalin's affair was nothing new in the sugarcane field, but he hadn't expected it to be this serious. Looking at the wounds on the fool's face and the mess on the ground, Dalin must have beaten the child quite a bit last night.
Although Bai Nuo was foolish, he was still a life, and with that thought, the village chief agreed.
"If only the villagers could speak up for us when he bullies us!" Bai Nuo said sincerely.
She didn't want anything, she just wanted to avoid being bullied by her father and stepmother. After she said such a simple request, the village chief felt very sorry for Bai Nuo. "Okay, Grandpa promises you, no matter who doesn't help you, Grandpa will definitely help you."
Bai Nuo nodded with tears in her eyes.
"Now that you've agreed, you can release her, right?" Bai Dalin looked at Chen Qiuling in Bai Nuo's hands and couldn't help but urge her. After not seeing her for just one night, Qiuling's complexion seemed to have worsened again.
"What's your hurry?" the village chief snapped, also angry with Bai Dalin. As a father, Bai Dalin had beaten his son to a pulp and showed no concern whatsoever, yet he was worried about his wife. "What will happen to your mother? With the children?"
"She can go with whomever she wants." Bai Dalin didn't care about any of this!
"Bai Dalin, could you please move all our things to the old house?" Bai Nuo smiled and explained to the village chief, "My grandmother lives with us." Her grandmother was injured and needed to be seen by a doctor, so Bai Nuo was worried about leaving her grandmother here.
Although she was angry with the old woman, she was truly devoted to her and willing to treat her well and take care of her. However, whether the old woman wanted to stay with her or her son was up to the old woman herself.
"Why should I move?" Bai Dalin glared, his beard bristling. "I still have to go to work!"
The village chief was furious and slapped Bai Dalin on the head. "Just move it when I tell you to! Your wife is still in their hands!" With his own wife still in their hands, he was still so arrogant. Bai Dalin really didn't treat his two children well.
Whether Bai Dalin was forced by the village chief's power or genuinely believed the village chief's words made sense, he took action anyway. As dawn broke, Bai Dalin's comings and goings quickly attracted a lot of gossip.
