Chapter 78 Offering the Beaded Bracelet

He even tripped and fell, landing on a roadside stone. Fortunately, after the fall, Bai Dalin regained his senses and could see the road again.

After regaining his senses, Bai Dalin dared not delay any longer. He hadn't been home all night and didn't know how worried Qiu Ling was at home, or if Chen Qiu Ling was scared.

Yes, definitely. Qiu Ling is so timid. She needs to hold him tightly every night to fall asleep. She's even afraid to kill a chicken. Now that he's not home all night, how can she not be scared?

Thinking of this, Bai Dalin quickly got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and hurried home.

Sigh, I should have known better than to drink. He can't hold his liquor well, and he gets drunk after just one drink. Why would someone like him drink alcohol? If I had known, he wouldn't have stayed out all night.

Standing in front of his house, Bai Dalin felt a deep sense of regret.

After taking a deep breath, Bai Dalin paced back and forth, thinking about how to explain things to Chen Qiuling before knocking on the door.

But no matter how much he knocked, Chen Qiuling didn't open the door. Bai Dalin had no choice but to walk to a corner of the wall and climb over it.

Then he walked back to his room. Fortunately, the door opened easily, unlike the main door which was tightly closed. Otherwise, he would have had to sit outside the room until dawn when Chen Qiuling got up.

However, she would often sit until noon, because Chen Qiuling loved to sleep after she became pregnant. Many times, she would sleep until noon before getting up, then cook and eat, and then continue sleeping until dark, waiting for him to come back and cook before getting up again.

Bai Dalin pushed open the door, patted his clothes outside to make sure they were clean and free of dust, then sniffed his arm. The smell of alcohol wasn't too strong, so he felt reassured and went inside.

Chen Qiuling didn't like his drinking or his lack of hygiene, so Bai Dalin paid close attention to these aspects.

He didn't want Chen Qiuling to be unhappy.

But once inside, Bai Dalin was startled.

Chen Qiuling was not lying on the bed, but on the ground, lying on her back, her face swollen like a pig's head, and there was a lot of blood at the corner of her mouth!

Bai Dalin was startled.

"Qiuling!" Bai Dalin rushed over, picked up Chen Qiuling, and wanted to pat her face, but he didn't dare to.

What exactly happened to Chen Qiuling? How did she end up lying on the ground in this state?

Could the house have been burgled? But it didn't seem like it. Bai Dalin looked around and everything was fine. Nothing had changed, and it didn't seem like he had been robbed.

Bai Dalin carefully placed a finger under Chen Qiuling's nose. After feeling that Chen Qiuling was still breathing, he breathed a sigh of relief, shook Chen Qiuling's shoulders, and softly called Chen Qiuling's name.

"Ah!" Chen Qiuling screamed as she regained consciousness, struggling desperately in Bai Dalin's arms. "No, don't hurt my child! No!"

"Qiu Ling, Qiu Ling!" Bai Dalin quickly held Chen Qiu Ling down to stop her from moving. "What's wrong? What's wrong? What happened? It's me, Dalin. Don't be afraid, it's alright, it's alright!"

Shaked by Bai Dalin, Chen Qiuling finally came to her senses. Turning her head, she saw Bai Dalin's large face and frantically called out his name, grabbing his arm with both hands, "Dalin, our child is gone! There's a ghost! A ghost has taken our child away!"

Is it a ghost?

The child was taken away?

What is Chen Qiuling saying?

Bai Dalin was confused and looked at Chen Qiuling with a puzzled expression, asking, "Qiuling, what are you saying? What do you mean by taking away the child? How could you have gotten into this situation?"

"There's a ghost! Dalin, there really is a ghost! The King of Hell has come for me, and he's going to take our child away!" Chen Qiuling cried out in anguish.

"How could this be?" Bai Dalin looked at Chen Qiuling's face. "Did you fall somewhere? How did you get into this state? And why aren't you sleeping in the bed?"

"It's true! There really are ghosts!" Chen Qiuling looked at Bai Dalin and said anxiously, "It's true! The King of Hell even slapped me twenty times, saying I was disrespecting the underworld, and he took our child away! Our child is gone, waaaah!"

What King Yama? Isn't that just a character from a play? How could he possibly appear in the human world? Although Bai Dalin hadn't received much formal education, as a man, he didn't really believe in ghosts. Besides, apart from the wounds on her face and the large amount of blood at the corners of her mouth, Chen Qiuling was perfectly fine all over, without a single wound or bloodstain. This showed that the child in Chen Qiuling's womb was still there and hadn't been taken away as she claimed.

Are you dreaming?

Seeing that Bai Dalin didn't believe her, Chen Qiuling became even more anxious. "It's true, Dalin, I'm not lying. Our child is gone. Believe me, there really are ghosts in this world. They've come to punish me!" As she spoke, Chen Qiuling was about to faint, which frightened Bai Dalin so much that he dared not say anything more and could only believe her and comfort her.

"Alright, alright, I believe you, okay? Don't worry, I'll go and get our child back from the clutches of the King of Hell, okay? You should go to sleep first, okay?"

As he spoke, Bai Dalin picked Chen Qiuling up from the ground, carried her back to bed, and covered her with a blanket. He saw that Chen Qiuling had stopped crying, but she was still staring blankly at the top of the mosquito net, her hands gripping his clothes tightly, looking somewhat helpless.
