Chapter 88: This kind of scene is not suitable for him.

How did Aunt Liu come to the conclusion that Bai Nuo's family was well-off? Did she spend all her money on furniture making, which is why she didn't have money to buy clothes?

Looking around casually, Hu Mingmei couldn't help but feel disappointed. He had originally thought that Bai Nuo had some secret, but it was clear that he had been overthinking it.

Not finding what he wanted, Hu Mingmei was about to leave when he opened the door. However, he noticed a bucket next to the wardrobe that was twice the height of a regular wooden tub. He withdrew his hand from the door and went over to take a look. Inside, there was half a bucket of the same thing he had seen the night before, kept in water with layers of yellow mud and sand on the surface.

Bai Nuo said these things weren't going to be taken back, so what are they? And why are they kept in water? Hu Mingmei's doubts grew one by one, so he squatted down, rolled up his sleeves, and put his hands into the wooden tub.

The water in the wooden bucket was refreshingly cold. Yellow mud and sand took the opportunity to cling to his bare arms, staining them the same color as the water. Hu Mingmei didn't care about that. He reached out and picked up a clam, then swirled it in the water to clean off the mud on its surface before carefully examining it.

What are these things? Why is Bai Nuo hiding them so carefully in the room? What are these things used for? One question after another lingered in Hu Mingmei's mind, refusing to leave!

Hu Mingmei looked the clam in her hand up and down, but she couldn't see anything special about it. It was just a strange-looking thing she had never seen before.

However, seeing how much Bai Nuo treasured it, Hu Mingmei naturally knew that there was a secret inside. He tried to pry open the clam, but found that it wouldn't open.

Since he couldn't open it, Hu Mingmei didn't insist on prying into its secrets, and he certainly wouldn't do such a thing in Bai Nuo's room. So, he casually picked up another clam, washed it, and quietly left Bai Nuo's room with the two clams, returning to his own room.

Not long after returning to the room, Aunt Liu also pushed her mother-in-law back. Then, Hu Mingmei heard the sound of a carriage and the sound of hooves pounding on the floor.

So they've all come back?

"Young Master, are you up?" A moment later, there was a knock on his door. When Hu Mingmei got up and opened the door, he saw that Lu Ying was covered in sweat and couldn't help but ask, "Are you hot? Why did you take so long?"

"Stop talking!" Lu Ying wiped the sweat from her forehead, took a deep breath, and then said, "Oh dear, Second Master, you have no idea!"

As they were talking, Lu Ying suddenly noticed that Hu Mingmei's expression was not good. She quickly put away her nonchalant attitude and said seriously, "When I sent Bai Yu to the academy, I found that Bai Yu had been beaten when I came back. The person who beat him was from the Zhang family."

"Moreover, I heard from them that the Zhang family has always been a very wealthy and feared force in this town. Almost no one in the town dares to offend them. Even when Bai Yu was beaten, the teachers in the school sided with the Zhang family. Therefore, I think that this Zhang family may be the Zhang family we have been looking for."

Their purpose in coming here was to find the Zhang family and find out what was going on. Now that they finally had a clue, Lu Ying didn't dare to hide anything.

Once we figure out what's going on with the Zhang family, the rest will naturally follow.

"Come in first!" To everyone's surprise, Hu Mingmei showed no excitement when she heard about this. She expressionlessly made way for Lu Ying to enter.

Had he done something wrong and angered the Second Master again? Lu Ying entered the house, completely bewildered.

Lu Ying went inside and saw two strange-looking objects on the table in Hu Mingmei's room. Curious, she picked them up and examined them. Lu Ying looked at Hu Mingmei and asked, "Second Master, what are these things? Where did you get them?"

Hu Mingmei closed the door before turning around and sitting down at the table. "You've never seen anything like this before?"

Lu Ying put down what he was holding and said seriously, "I have been by your side all these years, and I have never seen anything like this before."

Over the years, Lu Ying has always been by Hu Mingmei's side, growing up alongside him. Wherever Hu Mingmei goes, Lu Ying follows. Basically, everything Lu Ying has seen, Hu Mingmei has seen, and vice versa.

Unfortunately, this wasn't one of the many things they had ever seen.

"Where did you come from?" Lu Ying asked curiously. How come such a strange thing suddenly appeared in Second Master's room after only a short time outside?

No, two!

"I took it from Bai Nuo's room!" Hu Mingmei said calmly.

"Second Master...Second Master, you..." Lu Ying looked at the clam in her hand, then at Hu Mingmei, and said in shock, "Second Master, you...you actually became a thief? If Miss Bai finds out that you went into her room and stole her things, she will be very angry."

Just by looking at Bai Nuo's expression, you can tell she's not a good-tempered person. If she knew that Second Master had done something like this, he would definitely be severely punished.

Master Hu sat politely on the stool, showing no shame whatsoever for a thief. He glanced at Lu Ying expressionlessly before saying, "So now you're really thinking about her?"

I wasn't thinking about Bai Nuo at all! I was thinking about you, okay? I was worried that Bai Nuo would hit you. Your little body isn't strong enough to withstand a single push from him!
