Chapter 99 Store Opening (Part 1)

To leave or not to leave, that was clearly the question for Bai Nuo.

Let's go. She was reluctant to leave. Now that she was here, everyone said there were plenty of wild foods in the mountains. In modern times, she always believed that and acted accordingly. She had eaten plenty of bracken and wild vegetables. Now that she was in ancient times, in a place with such a good ecological environment, she was even more excited. Even if she couldn't find anything particularly good, she would be happy if she could find a couple of mushrooms.

But if she didn't leave, she was a little scared. She didn't know what was inside, and she was all alone. When the wind blew, it sounded like ghosts howling and wolves wailing. The leaves were crackling, and the wind was blowing past her ears. The place seemed very big.

This is the kind of place that Bai Nuo fears the most.

Whenever she went to places like this, she felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest.

never mind!

So be it!

Bai Nuo closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and stepped into the woods.

She really didn't want to leave!

Hopefully, there aren't any jackals, tigers, or leopards in this place!

However, what Bai Nuo was afraid of was not wolves or tigers. She was a brave person and was not afraid of tigers, lions, or snakes. But there was one thing she was afraid of: the dark.

After that dream, I became even more afraid of the dark.

No, it should be called claustrophobia. Yes, even in places where you can't see the end of the world, she feels her heart racing, dizzy, and covered in cold sweat!

This is unbelievable!

It's all Hu Mingmei's fault!

Bai Nuo had always been unwilling to admit that she felt a little uncomfortable when facing Hu Mingmei. She didn't know if it was because of the dream or something else, but she just felt a little uneasy when looking at Hu Mingmei.

I'm a little afraid of Hu Mingmei.

With Hu Mingmei gone, Bai Nuo felt a huge sense of relief.

This feeling has returned.

After calming herself down and taking countless deep breaths, Bai Nuo finally managed to suppress her fear.

What's there to be afraid of? He's not afraid of jackals, tigers, leopards, snakes, insects, rats, or ants, so what else is there to be afraid of? Although his soul transmigrating was indeed very strange, Bai Nuo believed more that it was a spacetime distortion or the appearance of time currents that caused him to transmigrate. There are no such things as ghosts in this world.

If Bai Nuo felt there was no problem, then naturally she wasn't afraid.

After thinking about it this way, Bai Nuo felt much better and relaxed all over, and then she walked in step by step.

The sun rarely shines here. There are many trees, and the piles of leaves and the dry, fallen trees are not good either. When you step on them, the leaves make a crisp sound. Whenever Bai Nuo sees a tree trunk, he will go up and take a look.

She found a lot of fresh wood ear mushrooms.

Bai Nuo truly regretted not bringing a basket; she had all the good things but nothing to put them back in, she couldn't even carry them all.

With no other option, Bai Nuo could only put down the perilla leaves she was holding and place them under the shade of the tree. Then she picked the wood ear mushrooms off the tree trunk one by one and put them in her clothes.

Luckily, there was no one else there, only her, otherwise it would have been embarrassing.

Once Bai Nuo had something to put in the wood ear mushrooms and wouldn't lose the perilla leaves, she completely let loose. She picked all the edible wood ear mushrooms and also found a lot of non-poisonous mushrooms, filling a whole bag to the brim.

After filling the clothes, Bai Nuo stopped being greedy. Even if there were more wood ear mushrooms or mushrooms, it would be a waste of effort to take them if there was nothing left to put back.

Bai Nuo walked back in the original direction. She had a good sense of direction, and after wandering around aimlessly, she wasn't worried about getting lost. She excitedly returned to her original spot with her things, picked up Zisu, and leisurely went home.

"Girl!" Aunt Liu was the first to notice Bai Nuo's return. Seeing her carrying a pile of things and coming back like this, she immediately shouted, "What are you doing?"

Bai Nuo didn't even have time to pay attention to her, and directly shouted, "Hurry up and bring me the basket!"

"Yes!" Aunt Liu responded quickly, but Bai Yu was much faster than Aunt Liu. He ran straight into the kitchen, grabbed a winnowing basket, and came back. "Sister!"

"Ouch!" Bai Nuo put down the bag of wood ear mushrooms in one swift motion and breathed a sigh of relief. "I was almost exhausted!"

"Where did all these mushrooms come from?" Aunt Liu exclaimed, clicking her tongue in amazement. "If we were to buy them, it would cost a lot of money, wouldn't it?"

"I found it on the mountain!" Bai Nuo laughed. After looking around the yard, she didn't see the old woman, but saw the clothes from last night lying next to the well. She couldn't help but ask, "Auntie, where's my grandma?"

"The old lady said she didn't want to come out because the sun is too strong, so she's sitting inside!" Aunt Liu said with a smile, constantly poking at the wood ear mushrooms in the winnowing basket.

"Are you busy?" Bai Nuo asked, with a winnowing basket half full of mushrooms and wood ear fungus, and a handful of perilla leaves on top. "If you're not busy, tidy up all these things. These need to be taken out to dry separately, and it's getting late, so the chili peppers need to be dried too."

Bai Nuo looked around and saw that the sun was already shining in the middle of the yard. After thinking for a moment, she decided to do it herself.

The cabbage and chili peppers were placed in the main room. After a day of drying, they had become wrinkled. Bai Nuo took the chili peppers out and put them in the yard to dry along with the wood ear mushrooms.

As for the wilted bok choy, a large vat was brought over, cleaned, dried, and then pickled with coarse salt. The bok choy was placed inside the vat, pressed tightly, and then a huge stone was placed on top of the vat's lid.
