Bai Nuo paused for a moment, then her hands moved even faster. She arranged the stools one by one, poured several cups of hot tea that were only half full, and knocked one of them over onto the table. After doing all this, Bai Nuo quickly hid in the wardrobe.
Seeing that she had hidden herself, Jiang San Niang and Li Jin Yu dared not peek out anymore. They quickly hid behind a pillar and held their breath. Before long, they heard footsteps approaching.
Fear is a strange thing. Even though it was very noisy outside, they could hear the footsteps of the person outside and the pounding of their heart.

With a creak, the closed door suddenly opened. Bai Nuo was hiding inside the wardrobe, which was custom-made by Jiang San Niang and Lu Yingxin. The person did not close the door but instead looked around the room.

The man in black walked to the table and looked at the overturned cup. Bai Nuo saw him reach out and touch the rim of the cup, as if checking the temperature of the tea.
He only touched it briefly before letting go, and then his gaze began to freely survey the room. After standing there for a moment, the man in black started walking around.
The quilt on Jiang San Niang's new bed was stabbed several times by the man in black with his sword, and the area under the bed was also searched.
As the man in black stayed longer, Bai Nuo became increasingly nervous.
Inside the room, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed. Bai Nuo saw the man in black approaching the cabinet, so she dared not look any further and quickly hid inside her long robe. She heard the man in black's footsteps approaching and the sound of him opening the cabinet door.
Bai Nuo's only thought was that he was about to be discovered!
Meanwhile, the noise outside the door grew louder and louder. Bai Nuo heard someone say, "Check here for any assassins. Don't let them break into the bridal chamber!"
The man in black was startled and slammed the wardrobe door shut. Then, he quickly left the bridal chamber.
Bai Nuo breathed a sigh of relief, wiped her forehead, and realized that she was covered in cold sweat in the dead of winter.
"There's no one in the new house!" Bai Nuo breathed a slight sigh of relief when she heard someone say this. Before she could see who it was, she heard Li Jinyu shout loudly, "Officer Cheng, there's someone here!"
The entire new house suddenly became lively.
Bai Nuo only heard Li Jinyu's voice, "Third Sister, Bai Nuo, we're safe!"
They also heard other voices, "The young lady is here!"
After a moment's hesitation, Bai Nuo crawled out of the wardrobe. The creaking sound of the wardrobe door opening immediately attracted everyone's attention. Being stared at by so many eyes, Bai Nuo's heart skipped a beat. Then, she calmly crawled out of the wardrobe.
Officer Cheng was dressed in a slightly worn constable's uniform, holding a sword, and accompanied by a group of brothers. Bai Nuo had never felt that Officer Cheng was as approachable and amiable as he was today.
Seeing Bai Nuo's smile, Constable Cheng asked, "Is Manager Bai alright?"
Bai Nuo nodded. She was indeed safe and sound. They arrived just in time; otherwise, she might not be alive today.
"Why are you here?" Bai Nuo coughed lightly, only then realizing that her voice was a little hoarse.
"We received a report that assassins had appeared at the Lu residence, causing many deaths and injuries, so we came here!" Constable Cheng explained simply, then asked in a formulaic manner, "Manager Bai was inside the cabinet the whole time; did he get a clear look at the assassin?"
Bai Nuo shook his head, "He kept his face covered the whole time, so I didn't see him clearly."
"Hey!" Li Jinyu shouted from the overhead beam, "Stop talking and get us down right now!"
When Bai Nuo and Constable Cheng looked up, they saw Li Jinyu looking at them with a worried expression.
Officer Cheng smiled and said, "Please wait a moment, Miss, I'll put you down right away!"
After saying that, he ordered someone to bring a ladder and lower the two people down.
As soon as Jiang San Niang was free, she grabbed Bai Nuo's hand and asked, "Grandma and Lu Ying?"
Lu Ying and the others knew martial arts and were able to protect themselves, but Grandma and Qiao'er were all elderly, weak, women, and children. Bai Nuo didn't know how Grandma was doing and was very anxious. She immediately said, "Jin Yu, you stay here for now, I'll go find my grandma!"
Li Jinyu knew that Bai Nuo and the others were anxious, so she immediately nodded.
Bai Nuo grabbed Jiang San Niang and rushed out the door.
Upon entering the courtyard, one finds soldiers and wounded people everywhere. In just a short time, the Lu residence has transformed from a joyous place into a place filled with wailing. Bai Nuo, worried that Jiang San Niang might not be able to bear it, glanced at her subconsciously. Seeing that she was only slightly pale and otherwise unharmed, he felt somewhat relieved.
Hu Mingmei and the others were searching around for survivors and assessing the injuries.
Bai Nuo instinctively called out, "Second Master!"
Hu Mingmei stood in the crowd, his hair slightly disheveled, with faint bloodstains on the hem of his clothes. On his white clothes, they looked like blooming red plum blossoms.
