"Young Madam, Butler Lu!" Although the two men in gray were puzzled as to why Bai Nuo would come here so late, they still greeted her respectfully.
Since Hu Mingmei got rid of everyone here, leaving only three people inside, the entire courtyard has taken on a different appearance. Although it still looks magnificent and luxurious on the surface, in the eyes of others, the courtyard has lost some of its liveliness and gained a sense of decay.

“They’re still alive!” The two guards at the door, one named Fifteen and the other Sixteen, replied after hearing Bai Nuo’s words, “There was a commotion this evening.”
"Really?" Bai Nuo curled the corners of her lips. "Open the door, I want to go in and see them!"
Fifteen and Sixteen were also well aware of Bai Nuo's situation. When they saw Bai Nuo about to open the door, they couldn't help but glance at Lu Ying, hoping that Lu Ying could persuade Bai Nuo not to go in. They had been locked up all day without any freedom, and without food or water. They had been forced into a certain situation and were extremely resentful of Bai Nuo and Hu Mingmei.
However, when Fifteen and Sixteen saw Lu Ying shake his head at them, they had no choice but to open the door.
As the door opened, Fifteen and Sixteen said, "Young Madam, please be careful."
There were two pregnant women inside. Although Lu Ying was with her, Fifteen and Sixteen cautiously followed behind Bai Nuo.
Bai Nuo did not object and let them follow.
After walking through the dimly lit courtyard, Bai Nuo stopped when she reached the entrance to the courtyard and noticed that there was still light in the house. Jiang San Niang asked, "Why is there still light in here?"
Fifteen quickly explained, "When we took over, we didn't check, so we didn't know they had lighting equipment. It was my oversight!"
All they knew was that Lu Ying had taken away all the food, but little did they know that Bai Nuo was also bothered by the lights.
Lu Ying also spoke up to explain.
Bai Nuo shook her head. "It's alright. Second Master only said to take away the food, not to touch anything else. It's not surprising that they have lighting equipment. Let's go in and take a look!" She had just heard laughter and chatter. In this situation, they were still in the mood to laugh and chat. It seemed that they were having a very good time here.
The thought of her husband suffering in prison while these people were chatting and laughing made Bai Nuo feel very gloomy.
Without much thought, Bai Nuo stepped into the courtyard. Jiang San Niang followed without hesitation, and after her came Lu Ying, followed by Shiwu and Shiliu.
However, after everyone had entered, Lu Ying quickly walked up to Bai Nuo and Jiang San Niang, shielding them behind him as he walked forward. As he passed Jiang San Niang, Lu Ying said, "Don't be afraid!"
Jiang San Niang nodded. She was not a timid person to begin with, and now that she was accompanying her sister and had him by her side, she was even less afraid.
Jiang San Niang wasn't afraid herself; she was worried that Bai Nuo might be afraid, so she reached out and took Bai Nuo's hand, whispering, "Don't be afraid, sister is here!"
Bai Nuo had always been the one protecting her; now it was her turn to help Bai Nuo solve his problems.
Bai Nuo nodded gently.
As soon as the group entered, the people inside seemed to sense it. The sounds of their talking and laughing immediately ceased, disappearing completely. Only the candlelight flickered in the darkness, looking extremely eerie and terrifying.
The group walked quickly and soon arrived at the hall. Huang Wenbai, Qian Peilan, and Huang Haichuan, the whole family, were there. There were also dishes and drinks on the table, indicating that they had just had a late-night snack.
Bai Nuo stood at the door, looking at Huang Wenbai. Huang Wenbai, sitting at the head of the table, also looked at Bai Nuo through Lu Ying and Jiang San Niang. The two faced each other silently. When Huang Haichuan saw that they had finally arrived, he couldn't help but laugh sarcastically, "What? You came to see how well we're doing? But you'll be disappointed, we're doing quite well!"
Qian Peilan's gaze fell on Bai Nuo's still-flat stomach, her eyes filled with resentment. Ever since she had summoned Meiying, Meiying had told them everything about Bai Nuo and Hu Mingmei. She had heard that Bai Nuo had suffered a miscarriage and was bedridden, using a wheelchair to get around. But seeing her today, Qian Peilan couldn't help but feel disappointed. Bai Nuo looked perfectly fine.
How could Hu Mingmei be so lucky? And so was his son.
"I did come to see you. Seeing that you are doing well, I am relieved. It seems that even though Grandpa and Second Uncle are isolated from the world, they are doing quite well!" Bai Nuo's gaze fell on the leftover food on the dining table that had not yet been cleared away.
Lu Ying was always meticulous and cautious in his work. If he said there was nothing to eat, he would definitely clean everything up. The servants here were also under Lu Ying's care, and there were no problems. It was even less likely that Fifteen or Sixteen would be disobedient to Hu Mingmei. They were locked up here, but food was sent to them over there.
