Lu Ying stood behind Bai Nuo, completely unaware of the meaning behind Bai Nuo's actions. She clearly had no fatherly affection for Bai Dalin anymore, and she could have tied Bai Dalin up for life, but instead, she let him go.

When Bai Dalin arrived at his doorstep, he had no idea what time it was. The entire village was pitch black, without a single light. Bai Dalin couldn't tell if everyone was asleep or what, so he could only grope his way towards his house.
Even with a pale moon hanging in the sky, and the moonlight barely enough to see the road, Bai Dalin still nearly fell several times.
After finally reaching Bai Nuo's doorstep, Bai Dalin became extremely nervous. He was afraid that Bai Nuo had already arrived home by now, so he instinctively shuffled into the house.
His own dilapidated house was completely dark. He had been away for so long and didn't know how Qiuling was doing or how the baby in her belly was doing.

During this month, Chen Qiuling really thought a lot. She thought that Bai Dalin really didn't want her anymore, and that she and Chen Zhi would become an abandoned wife and child again.
"I..." Bai Dalin was speechless. He really didn't know how to tell Chen Qiuling about what he had experienced over the past month.
Fortunately, Chen Qiuling didn't give Bai Dalin a chance to speak. After her initial excitement, Chen Qiuling frowned and asked, "What's that smell?"
Bai Dalin was immediately embarrassed. During the month or two that Bai Nuo had taken him away from, he hadn't taken a shower at all. This... was probably the smell on his body.
Bai Dalin coughed lightly, released Chen Qiuling, stepped over the threshold and walked out of the house. "I'm exhausted. I need to wash up first. I've been traveling all day!"
Bai Dalin's demeanor, as if he had truly gone far away, convinced Chen Qiuling, so she stopped asking questions. Furthermore, Bai Dalin did indeed have a strange smell about him, so Chen Qiuling immediately said, "Yes, I'll go get you some water!"
