Seeing that she had finished writing, Bai Nuo took it in her hand, blew on the ink to make it dry faster, and said, "Qinghe, come and give this lady a refund!" Bai Nuo glanced at the woman's hair ornament and said.
Qinghe obediently went to the counter to get the money and stood next to Bai Nuo. Bai Nuo said to the people over there, "You guys come over and write yours too!"
"Didn't you say you had no money?" The woman asked through gritted teeth as she watched Qinghe hand out money to one person after another. "You're lying to me?"
"Oh!" Bai Nuo slapped her forehead. "I forgot, I haven't deposited this money yet. What's wrong? I didn't lie to you, did I? Or are you feeling guilty?"
"You're selling counterfeit goods here, isn't that cheating people?" The woman's expression was slightly ferocious.
"I don't know if it's real or not, what do you think?" Bai Nuo suddenly looked at her meaningfully.
The woman didn't know what Bai Nuo was looking at, but her gaze made her uneasy. Just then, someone behind her pushed her, and she walked away.
"All that work for nothing!" After everyone had left, Qinghe collapsed onto the stool like a deflated balloon.
Bai Nuo ignored her and quickly closed the door. Qinghe looked at her with some surprise, but quickly understood—Bai Nuo was probably afraid of losing money today and was afraid that someone would come to return the goods, so she did this.
However, "Miss, are we not doing business today?"
As Bai Nuo walked back, she said, "We're not doing it today. If someone comes to return something, just have them write a receipt or something and give them the money. If someone comes to buy something, don't open the door and let them in!"
Qinghe was in a low mood, and simply nodded and said "Oh" as an agreement.
Bai Nuo counted the papers in his hand; there were fifty in total. Each person lost between five and six taels of silver, and in one day, he lost a total of two hundred taels of silver.
It's hard to say whether you can work for nothing for a month, but you'll definitely lose a day's revenue. Plus, the losses from disrupting normal business operations are even more unpredictable.
Bai Nuo looked through the items one by one, and finally sneered when he saw the last one. They were all things he had bought in May.
A small bamboo grove.
No matter when, this place is always so gloomy. Manager He and his waiter walked cautiously along this dark road. The two grown men did not mind the awkwardness and walked hand in hand.
"Shopkeeper!" The waiter stared intently at the dark path ahead, afraid that something scary might jump out at any moment. Even though he was a man and had been through this path before, the waiter was still very scared. He didn't know if it was because of the cold weather or his fear, but he felt his whole body trembling, and he could barely speak.
"Why would this old man live in a place like this? Isn't he afraid?"
Manager He held his beloved waiter's hand, the warmth emanating from it bringing him a slight sense of peace. He glanced down at the short man beside him and said, "How can we possibly know what's going on with the master? He's the master, he can stay wherever he wants. Who are you to tell him?"
"No!" The waiter, afraid that the shopkeeper might misunderstand and tell the old man, quickly shook his head. "I didn't mean that. I just said this is too expensive. With your extraordinary appearance, sir, you should live in a secluded paradise!"
Manager He sneered, "I think you're just a coward. How can such a grown man be afraid of the dark!"
The waiter shrank his neck and whispered, "Shopkeeper, aren't you afraid?"
"Of course I'm not afraid!"
The waiter's gaze fell on their clasped hands. "Shopkeeper, aren't you afraid? Why are you holding onto me?" The shopkeeper's grip on his hand was so tight it hurt, and he wanted to cry out in pain!
"I only held you up because I felt sorry for you, seeing how scared you were, and I was afraid you'd fall. That's why I held you up, so you wouldn't cause me any trouble. You're really ungrateful!" Manager He glanced at the two men's hands, cursed angrily, and flung the waiter's hand away.
But they hadn't walked far when Manager He grabbed the waiter's hand again. "Oh dear, let's hurry up and go. If we don't leave soon, the old man will get impatient, and then you'll be in for a world of hurt."
After walking for about fifteen minutes, the two finally arrived at the familiar doorway again. Manager He said to the waiter, "Wait here!"
The waiter rubbed his hands together and nodded. It was really cold that day!
Shopkeeper He stepped forward and knocked on the door. Soon, a man also wearing a hood opened the door. Shopkeeper He was almost scared to death. After barely calming himself down, he asked, "Where is the master?"
The man said calmly, "I've been waiting for you inside for a long time. You're late!"
Shopkeeper He said, "I had to deal with Bai Nuo's matter, so I'm late. Please forgive me, sir!" He said this to the hooded man, but also to the old man.
"Come in!" Sure enough, after Manager He finished speaking, the old man's cold voice rang out in the room. The hooded man stepped aside, and Manager He hurriedly went in.
Once inside, Manager He discovered that there was not only the old man, but also another middle-aged man.
However, this middle-aged man looks a bit like a country bumpkin!
Looking at the shrewd glint in his eyes, Manager He couldn't bring himself to like him.
Moreover, Manager He had a strong premonition that this man was there to undermine his position with the old man.
Is the old man starting to disregard him?
