Chapter 99 Store Opening (Part 1)

At this time, the grass was very quiet. When Bai Nuo looked into the river, he saw several wild ducks splashing around happily in the water.

Perfect! Bai Nuo breathed a sigh of relief. She was just thinking of stealing two wild duck eggs to cook noodles. If the ducks were all holed up in their nests, then her trip would have been in vain.

She found her way to the wild duck's nest with practiced ease. It had been a long time since she had visited, and there were now several yellow ducklings inside. When they saw her, they flapped their wings and quacked loudly.

Bai Nuo's heart jumped into her throat. She turned to look at the riverbank, where the mother duck was still splashing happily in the water.

"Don't shout, I'm not your mother, I have no food for you!" Bai Nuo whispered. The duck eggs had turned into ducks, and she felt incredibly disappointed.

Duck eggs? Duck?

Looking for duck eggs? Catching ducks?

Bai Nuo was extremely conflicted.

After thinking about it, she decided against it. It was one thing to eat someone else's eggs, but to also take someone else's ducklings was another matter entirely. She didn't know how to raise such small ducklings if she took them home.

After leaving the duck's nest, Bai Nuo walked into the depths of the grass. The grass was very tall, reaching up to her neck, and the edges of the grass leaves were covered with small thorns, making her neck very uncomfortable.

As Bai Nuo walked, he parted the grass with his hands and watched his step. After walking for a while, he finally found a large nest of wild duck eggs.

Without the mother duck guarding her, Bai Nuo squatted down, took two ducks, and left, not being greedy for more.

After finding the duck eggs, Bai Nuo returned to the fishpond and saw Bai Dajiang's son, Gouzi, wandering around the fishpond aimlessly.

Bai Nuo often felt that this kid was someone who never learned his lesson. After she gave him a good beating last time, he still dared to come back.

Ha, then I'll give you another beating!

Bai Nuo looked at the dog with a cold smile on his lips. He watched the dog circle back and forth by the fishpond like a windmill without making a sound. Only when he got closer did he shout, "What are you doing? Stealing things!"

The white dog was happily wandering around when a sudden loud shout startled him. He looked up and saw Bai Nuo walking towards him.

A terrifying smile still lingered on his lips.

He looked like a demon from hell.

The white dog immediately took off running!

"Am I that scary?" Bai Nuo muttered to himself. He walked to the edge of the fishpond, bent down and threw away the wooden stick that Bai Gouzi had left behind, before going into the vegetable garden. He picked a few leftover bok choy before turning around and going back.

Back home, Bai Nuo washed the cabbage and took it to the kitchen. She then brought out a large bowl, filled it with flour, boiled water, kneaded the dough, and made herself some noodles.

After pulling the noodles, Bai Nuo added an appropriate amount of water and brought it to a boil. Then, he added the noodles and cooked them until they were boiling. After that, he added the bok choy and let them boil for a while. He then cracked in two duck eggs without covering the pot, letting the hot water cook the eggs until the surface turned into egg whites. He then scooped out the noodles and vegetables, added soup, soy sauce, and salt. Next, he went outside, chopped a chili pepper, heated some oil, and poured it over the noodles.

A bowl of duck egg noodles is now ready.

Although the noodles cooked this way didn't have many side dishes, the soup was clear and sweet, the noodles were chewy, and they had a fragrant oily aroma. Bai Nuo liked eating them this way. After slurping down a bowl of noodles and not leaving any soup, Bai Nuo washed the bowl and pot and then walked towards Grandma's room.

Although Grandma doesn't need much care now, Bai Nuo still insists on visiting her every day. She originally thought Grandma was sleeping, but when she went to Grandma's room, she found that Grandma wasn't sleeping, but was tying ropes.

Grandma made some bracelets and necklaces; it wasn't just Grandma who made them, Bai Yu did too.

"Don't you guys sleep?" Bai Nuo leaned against the door with both hands, one foot inside and one foot outside, staring in disbelief at the scene inside.

"Come in quickly!" The old woman and Bai Yu looked at her at the same time, greeting her with smiles, "You're back. Have you eaten yet? Ayu said you went out on something. What were you doing?"

There was no question of what Bai Nuo was doing; there was only deep concern.

"I went up the mountain and found some mountain produce, including the chili peppers I brought back yesterday. I found them all on the mountain!" Bai Nuo said softly, glancing at Grandma Liu's room, where she saw Grandma Liu fast asleep on the bed.

Bai Nuo was immediately dissatisfied. She had really found a tyrant. Her grandmother and younger brother were still working, but she, as a nanny, was sleeping like this.

"Why didn't you ask Aunt Liu to come and help?" Bai Nuo walked in, sat down next to the old woman, and answered her questions one by one. "I've already had lunch. I just ate some noodles that I made myself."

As Bai Nuo helped the old woman tidy up the rope, she looked at Aunt Liu with increasingly furrowed brows. "Grandma, when we're not around, does she do any chores willingly? Is she kind to you?"

If the old lady utters a single complaint, Bai Nuo will fire her immediately!

I just can't stand it!

"She's fine!" When Bai Nuo mentioned Aunt Liu, the old woman also looked at Aunt Liu on the bed. "Although she doesn't have eyes for work, she's still quite good at it. She didn't torment me when you weren't around. Just keep her. She's just someone who cooks and does laundry. It doesn't matter who you hire."

Moreover, Aunt Liu was an honest woman. Despite having so many things in Bai Nuo's room, she didn't rummage through them. She went out every day and never heard any gossip.
