The Yu family was thrown into chaos once again.
After watching the commotion, Bai Nuo didn't wait for Jiang San Niang. To be honest, Jiang San Niang looked incredibly disheveled. If she were like this, she definitely wouldn't want to be seen by others and would prefer to calm down by herself. So Bai Nuo left.
"I want to go home!" Hu Mingmei took Bai Nuo to the Fulai Inn, put her on the bed, and was about to leave when Bai Nuo grabbed him and looked at Hu Mingmei pitifully, "I don't want to lie down anymore, my back hurts so much."
“You’re not fully recovered, that’s why your back hurts!” Hu Mingmei let her pull him along, but remained unmoved. “You can’t go out until your back is better.”
"The doctor said I can go out!" Bai Nuo looked up at him, looking extremely pitiful. "I want to go home and see Grandma. Grandma must miss me terribly!" The doctor said she could walk around a bit, but this person in front of her just wouldn't let her go out for a walk. He insisted that she stay in bed, with someone helping her with her clothes and bathing. If it weren't for the fact that she had to eat by herself, he would have found someone to do it for her.
Bai Nuo was so anxious she almost cried.
“I’ve already spoken to your grandmother!” Hu Mingmei looked at her and a smile flashed in his eyes. Her appearance was deeply etched in Hu Mingmei’s mind.
It carried a doting affection that even Bai Nuo hadn't seen.
"Besides, your brother goes back every day to report on your situation. Your grandmother knows you were injured, but she also knows you are safe now, so you don't need to worry."
He just wanted to tease her, to see her get anxious, to see her unconsciously act coquettish. After only a few days together, he discovered that she had a million different expressions.
If things continue like this, it doesn't seem so bad!
"If you don't want to, I'll jump off here!" Bai Nuo was so anxious that she cried. She was so worried that she blurted out whatever came to mind.
Then, she actually ran outside, barefoot.
Hu Mingmei pulled Bai Nuo back abruptly, staring at her dangerously as he asked, "What did you just say? Say it again?"
Bai Nuo was being held by him, her head almost buried in his chest. Seeing Hu Mingmei's expression, Bai Nuo immediately cowered and whispered, "I want to go home."
Say it again...
"I want to go home..."
"We'll see!"
"I'm sorry, I was wrong!" Bai Nuo couldn't take it anymore, so she pretended to be an ostrich, lowered her head, and apologized honestly.
“It’s not that I don’t want you to go back, it’s just that I’m worried it’ll be bad for your health, so I don’t want you to go through all that trouble. You shouldn’t say these things anymore, okay?” Hu Mingmei carried her back to the bed, squatted down, helped Bai Nuo put on her shoes, and then stood up and said, “I’ll take you back now. But you have to promise me that you’ll bring Xiao He back with you, so she can take care of you.”
"Mmm, no problem..." Bai Nuo still had tears in the corners of her eyes. After Hu Mingmei agreed to let her go back, she nodded vigorously. As long as she could go back, she would take not only one small river, but even two small rivers.
"Don't cry, sweetie!" Hu Mingmei wiped away Bai Nuo's tears before leaving.
"My brother..." Before long, Bai Nuo was carried to the carriage by Hu Mingmei. The carriage was not her old, dilapidated one. This carriage was much more luxurious and comfortable than hers. There were soft cushions inside, and no one knew where Hu Mingmei had gotten them from. There were also ice blocks inside the carriage, so Bai Nuo could lean against them without feeling hot.
Hu Mingmei sat in the carriage with her. Just as the carriage was about to leave, Bai Nuo suddenly asked, "Where's my brother?"
"He's in the Treasure Pavilion, Lu Ying is with him." Hu Mingmei leaned against the carriage, holding a book in her hand, her long legs casually placed. Hearing Bai Nuo's words, she looked up at her.
"Oh!" Bai Nuo was immediately relieved. If it were just Bai Yu alone, he wouldn't be able to keep an eye on the shop. But if someone helped watch over it, Bai Nuo wasn't worried.
"Let's go."
Xia Donglai was driving the carriage. Although he didn't often appear in public, his driving skills were excellent. He drove the carriage quickly and steadily, and soon they arrived at the sugarcane field.
"Young master, which way do we go?" Xia Donglai was stunned when he arrived at the entrance of the village and could only ask Hu Mingmei for help. He didn't know where Bai Nuo's house was.
"Keep going straight, and turn into the fork in the road!" Bai Nuo opened the carriage curtain and pointed out the way to Xia Donglai.
When they got home, Hu Mingmei wanted to carry Bai Nuo down, but Bai Nuo quickly stopped him and whispered, "We're home." After all, Bai Nuo was still young and her body wasn't even an adult yet. If she hugged and kissed a man in front of her grandmother, Bai Nuo was afraid that her grandmother would faint.
"Xiaohe!" Hu Mingmei didn't say anything, but withdrew his hand, called out "Xiaohe" to the outside, and then got off the carriage first.
After Hu Mingmei got off, Xiao He went into the carriage and helped Bai Nuo down.
It wasn't until she entered the courtyard that her family noticed she had returned. Aunt Liu was harvesting vegetables when she heard the commotion. She glanced at the vegetables, then threw them down and ran towards her grandmother's room, shouting as she ran, "Auntie, the girl is back!"
Bai Nuo gave a wry smile and said to Hu Mingmei, "Clear the vegetables, don't leave a single one behind."
Seeing how excited Aunt Liu was, she knew that she was going to be nagged by her grandmother for a long time, since no one else could help her harvest the dried vegetables except for Hu Mingmei.
