Chapter 168 Surpassing the Master

Zheng Quchi was about to go back to the carriage to get her tools when she saw Mu Gaoyi and Shi Hetong carrying her large bundle over together.

"Aqing, we've brought your things!" Mu Gaoyi called out excitedly.

Zheng Quchi paused for a moment, then smiled and stepped forward, saying, "Thank you."

Shi Hetong said, "Aqing, we heard everything on the carriage. We believe you. You must make these snobbish bastards know how amazing our Ye Kingdom craftsmen are!"

She nodded, reached out, and grabbed the large bundle. The two men, who were taller than her, were bent over as they carried it, but she lifted it up with ease.

Those around who saw it were astonished.

You wouldn't believe it, this not-so-tall body hides incredible strength.

Zheng Quchi squatted on the ground and rummaged through her bundle to find the round knife, flat knife, slanted knife, and triangular knife she wanted.

She first picked out the two most frequently used ones, and then stuck the rest of the carving knives into her waistband.

Seeing that she carried so many wooden tools with her, other people were curious about what level of craftsman she was.

Until... she inadvertently flashed the "Level 1 Craftsman" badge from her waist, and they were all dumbfounded.

"Wow, a first-level craftsman... She's not even a master craftsman? I really don't know where she got that arrogant tone from?"

"I thought she was a master craftsman just now, but it turns out she's just a novice craftsman. Oh dear, I wasted my time."

"How could he be a master craftsman? Look at his age, how could he be a master craftsman? In which country are master craftsmen not all of them honed their skills to a certain age?"

Master craftsmen generally refer to second-level craftsmen and third-level grandmasters.

However, once someone is awarded the title of craftsman, there are three levels: first-level craftsman, second-level craftsman, and third-level master craftsman. These three levels are not just different levels, but rather different stages, such as primary school, middle school, and university.

"It seems there's no excitement to be had. She's definitely going to lose in a bit. I was hoping to see that old swindler from Jinxing Inn get his comeuppance, but it looks like no one can teach him a lesson for now."

Many onlookers felt disappointed and bored, unanimously agreeing that the short young man was just causing trouble out of spite and didn't possess the real skills she boasted about.

Inside the carriage, Wei Yao lifted the curtain to take in everything that had happened. Seeing Zheng Quchi's determined look, he wasn't worried at all. Instead, he said with great interest, "General, is the lady planning to amaze everyone?"

Yuwen Sheng looked at Zheng Quchi's bright and ambitious figure. There was always a barrier between her and ordinary young ladies. She never avoided or watched when faced with problems, but chose to take on the troubles. She was small in stature but could be so tenacious and brave.

...This is quite different from the cowardly demeanor she often displayed in front of him, a look of anger that she dared not express.

The thought of her heartfelt confession to him that night chilled his heart, though his eyes curved like a sickle: "Get out of the car."

After Yuwen Sheng and Wei Yao got out of the car, Runtu immediately followed in silence. Yuwen Sheng appeared normal in the car, but as soon as he got out, he inexplicably exuded a sense of weakness, as thin as a willow branch.

Zheng Quchi packed his bundle and handed it over to Mu Gaoyi and the others for safekeeping. Turning around, he saw Yuwen Sheng get out of the car.

His appearance and demeanor naturally attracted attention, yet in this bustling world, he remained as ethereal as smoke, aloof and detached, keeping an unapproachable distance from everyone.

His gaze fell directly on Zheng Quchi. As soon as she looked at him, he slightly averted his eyes, revealing his pale, slender neck. His lowered eyes, high nose bridge, and lips formed a beautiful, undulating line, making him appear sickly and aloof from the world.

Why... If you're sick, just stay in the carriage. Why are you putting on this act after getting off? Who are you trying to impress?

She looked away, then went up the steps and walked to the doorpost.

When the shopkeeper learned that the young man was only a first-level craftsman, he suddenly realized that he had acted impulsively. The doorposts left by the owner were meant for a master craftsman with superb skills to continue carving, just to create a beautiful story that would be passed down through generations.

But what if it gets ruined by this little craftsman? Wouldn't he be blamed to death by his employer afterward?

"Wait a minute, you're just a lowly craftsman, I'm afraid you're not qualified to continue carving my master's gateposts... Ah—stop!"

Before the shopkeeper could finish speaking, the young craftsman raised his sharp carving knife and haphazardly slashed at the bottom of the doorpost.

The long, deep scratch ran from left to right, making the shopkeeper's eyes widen in distress, and he rushed over to try and stop it.

However, Wang Zebang and Fu Rong would not allow him to get close to the general's wife. The two of them moved their feet and stood firmly in front of Zheng Quchi.

The short, stout shopkeeper shouted in a heartbreaking voice, "Get out of the way right now—"

At this moment, all the waiters in the inn rushed over and stood with the innkeeper, but the four or five of them were no match for Wang Zebang's imposing presence.

"Who dares to go over there?"

The shopkeeper gritted his teeth: "If you damage my boss's gateposts, I'll make sure you outsiders can never leave Yongchun!"

"You're planning to back out, aren't you?" Zheng Quchi's carving knife scratched and scratched on the doorpost.

Each cut and each stroke was executed with such spontaneity that it left those around them stunned.

She's just acting recklessly. Maybe from the very beginning, this person was just there to cause trouble, and didn't actually have any real skills.

Such a method of revenge may seem satisfying at the moment, but having made an enemy of Jinxing Inn, they might not even be able to leave Yongchun alive.

Everyone in Yongchun knows that the owner of Jinxing Inn is a scoundrel, but unfortunately, he has a powerful and influential boss behind him.
