Chapter 220 The Head Mistress (Part 4)

She rubbed her slightly throbbing temples, her tone cool: "It's something important."

——

Two days later, Zheng Quchi, wearing a black cloak that covered her from head to toe, followed Wei Yao to a brewing alley in Fuxian County. The rich and mellow aroma of wine permeated the alley, becoming stronger the deeper one went.

Inside a thatched shed outside a winery, two young men in plain clothes were bound together with hemp rope.

They struggled on the ground, shouting angrily, "Who are you?! Let us go! You're kidnapping people like this, you have no respect for the law!"

Zheng Quchi approached and asked, "Are you disciples of Gongshu?"

Their cursing stopped, and they looked up at the cloaked figure in front of them. She appeared petite and frail among the group of strong and tall men, yet she stood in the main position, and those seemingly unapproachable burly men seemed to be under her command.

"Who...who are you? Did you order them to kidnap us?"

Zheng Quchi quietly observed them for a moment, then asked, "Can you see Gongshu Jiruo?"

"What?!" The two looked bewildered, not understanding what she meant by asking that question, nor what she was going to do.

Zheng Quchi calmly took out a small black token of peculiar material from his waist and handed it to them. The two men's eyes widened immediately, and after a careful examination, they exclaimed in unison, "It's...it's the Black Token?"

“It seems you recognize me. Well then, I have a favor to ask of you. Could you make a trip to Beiyuan Kingdom and deliver a message to Gongshu Jiruo for me?” Zheng Quchi said.

This time, their attitude completely changed. They quickly nodded respectfully, "No, no problem, please go ahead, young lady."

What is the Black Order?

Wei Yao had never heard of this before, but judging from the reactions of the two disciples, this item must be extraordinary. However... how could such an object, which could mobilize the Gongshu disciples to obey orders, be in the hands of the Madam?

Who gave it to her, or did she receive it by chance?

But seeing that the lady knew a great deal about this item, he believed it to be the former.

After much thought, he concluded that the most likely and most suspicious person was Gongshu Jiruo.

Zheng Quchi lowered her eyes, her emotions unreadable. She said, "Just say that I, Zheng Quchi, will be waiting for the esteemed Gongshu Master in Fuxian County. Songshan Pavilion, see you there."

Upon hearing this, Wei Yao's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately looked at Zheng Quchi.

Why did the lady want to see Gongshu Jiruo?

Now that the general's fate is unknown, the lady is going to meet with Gongshu Jiruo, whose intentions are unknown. He dares not think too deeply about what might happen if the lady really has something going on with Gongshu Jiruo. Would the general, in a fit of rage, turn into a vengeful ghost and come to haunt him every night, demanding his life?

The two disciples of the Gongshu family also began to look away, wondering what the relationship was between this woman and the leader. Could it really be that kind of relationship?

"Don't worry, we will definitely convey the message exactly as it was," the two readily agreed.

Zheng Quchi looked at Wei Yao: "Let them go."

Wei Yao naturally complied. After releasing the two disciples of the Gongshu family, he hesitated for a moment, then turned to Zheng Quchi and asked, "Madam, do you wish to see Gongshu Jiruo?"

At this point, Zheng Quchi was unaware of what he had misunderstood, so he casually explained, "I have a question that I would like to ask him in person."

What could possibly be more important than sending a message by carrier pigeon? If all else fails, he can provide a whole flock. Besides, he has couriers (messengers) here. As long as the lady needs it, he can find a way to deliver it to Gongshu Jiruo's ears.

There were some things he couldn't easily advise, so he could only gently remind her: "Madam, Gongshu Jiruo shares the same will as the Northern Abyss Kingdom in attacking Ye Kingdom. He agrees with the invasion of Ye Kingdom and is one of the seven members of the main attack faction."

Zheng Quchi was unaware of these things, but he wasn't particularly surprised to hear this.

She had long known that Gongshu Jiruo was not a carefree, reclusive person. He was deep, strategic, and had a plan, clearly an ambitious man involved in worldly wars.

When he thought he had become friends with Gongshu Jiruo in private, Zheng Quchi said, "Don't worry, I understand that people with different stances can't get along, and I never intended to become his close friend."

Did you two end up together? No intention of becoming close friends?

This is terrible! Her idea is so dangerous...

Wei Yao, whose brain automatically filtered out the correct answer and only picked out words and phrases to make connections, thought to herself that she had to find a way to stop this. She absolutely could not let her wife be deceived and run away with that scoundrel Gongshu Jiruo!

"Madam, we've been working hard to build the workshop these past few days. Would you like to go take a look now?"

Since he was already there, Zheng Quchi naturally wouldn't refuse: "Okay."

What is love? Isn't it better to focus on your career and become the richest man in Ye Kingdom? Wei Yao decided to let his wife devote herself to her career and extinguish all feelings of love.

——

On this chilly morning, they followed the unpaved road to the back of the foundry, where some buildings of stone and wood were intricately stacked.

This place used to be used to store tools and finished products, but as the supply of goods decreased year by year, it was left idle.

However, in recent years, with constant warfare, the demand for weapons to supply the battlefield has been huge. The Weapon Foundry wanted to expand its business and built several new factories. But the good times didn't last long. The cash flow dried up, so it was no longer able to produce on a large scale, and the land and buildings were left unused.

They have now cleared it out and are temporarily using it as a workshop site and buildings.

After Zheng Quchi entered, he saw that the production workshop was spacious, bright, clean and orderly. The floor was also swept and dust-free. Various wooden machinery, tools, tables and equipment were neatly arranged. There were even some modern safety warning signs on the walls...
