"Prepare."
After setting up more than a dozen catapults and adjusting their positions and distances, Mu Jin was filled with pride, waiting to smash the Ye camp to pieces.
However, things don't always go as planned. The soldiers of the Southern Chen Kingdom were carrying a cart full of heavy stones, preparing to place them, when suddenly a long, continuous thumping sound came from the Ye Kingdom camp, which had been as quiet as a chicken's nest.
Immediately afterwards, it was as if a rain of stones was falling from the sky and crashing down on them.
"The Ye army has launched a surprise attack! Cover them!"
A barrage of stones rained down from the sky. Out of the corner of their eyes, they noticed that the falling stones were all about the size of a fist; although they were light, there were many of them.
Their eyes widened in shock. To avoid being hit on the head, they immediately hid next to the catapult. However, they did not realize that these stones were far from being as "weak and harmless" as they looked.
When they hit you, they hurt, but they're not fatal. What's more deadly is that when they hit you, the moment they touch your skin, they cause an excruciating burning sensation.
If you don't brush it off in time, not only will your clothes get burned, but your skin will also get big blisters.
The stones scattered and fell haphazardly, quickly generating enough heat to strike the catapult with a series of loud "bangs."
When the Southern Chen army realized that these were not ordinary stones, but the kind of flint that could burn a person's skin, and smelled the burnt stench emanating from the catapult, they immediately stood up and instinctively brushed the stones that had fallen onto the catapult to avoid causing significant damage.
Unexpectedly, there were even red-hot charcoal pieces mixed in. If the time was delayed too long, and the weather became too dry, the wooden implements would surely catch fire.
Mu Jin stepped aside and shouted, "Go up and help!"
After a period of panic and confusion, the Nan Chen soldiers developed large blisters on their hands, suffering excruciating pain, and were no longer able to use the catapult.
Soldiers who operate machinery require extensive training. Their arm strength is particularly developed to enable them to complete this series of operations in a very short time without making mistakes, in order to aim, set the direction and distance, and pull and turn the lever.
However, now that the siege engineers have injured their hands, they are obviously no longer able to operate the catapults as usual, which makes Mu Jin, who was determined to smash the Ye camp, grit his teeth in anger.
He had just prepared the catapults when the other side had already prepared the corresponding countermeasures. If he still thought Zheng Quchi was an ignorant fool, he should slap himself.
But this level of counterattack didn't have much of an impact on Mu Jin. He stomped on a piece of charcoal that had fallen at his feet and said, "Did they think we were helpless just because we couldn't use catapults?"
