Happy things?
Zheng Quchi pondered, what else could make him happy besides letting Yuwen Sheng kill to his heart's content?
He wasn't even happy to become the Prince of Ye, so what else could possibly make him happy?
Gan Xin and Yu Wensheng were pressing closer and closer. If they didn't stop them soon, Le Qi would definitely suffer. So he could only urge in a low voice, "Master."
Zheng Quchi raised his eyes, his lustrous brown pupils fixed on Yuwen Sheng, his lips pressed into a straight line.
"Yuwen Sheng—"
He still had some reaction to his own name. He slowly turned his gaze from Leqi to Zheng Quchi. It was as dark as an abyss, deep and disordered, as if it were a chaotic and unrestrained world, and he was rising and falling in the boundless void.
That gaze was so intimidating that Zheng Quchi had to mentally prepare himself before asking, "...Do you want to listen to a song?"
Yuwen Sheng tilted his head, whether he couldn't understand what she was saying or saw her as prey, the corners of his mouth slowly curved into a smile, which then widened, his curved eyes were beautiful and attractive, but in contrast, the killing intent around him was as solid as a tangible substance.
Gan Xin quickly stepped in front of Zheng Quchi. He had no doubt that Yuwen Sheng now regarded his master as a noisy sparrow and wanted to grab her and crush her into mincemeat.
Zheng Quchi tightened his grip on Gan Xin's clothes and shouted at Leqi, who was struggling in fear, "Leqi, if I find out you're lying to me, I'll tear you to pieces!"
She took a deep breath, trying to suppress the awkwardness of the formal occasion, and began to hum a moonlight song. The familiar and gentle melody indeed caught Yuwen Sheng's attention. He may have forgotten the person who vomited all over her on the mountain, but he remembered the song she sang.
While observing Yuwen Sheng's reaction, Zheng Quchi added a few lines of lyrics. She didn't know if Yuwen Sheng was happy or not, but his hunting actions did slow down.
Then, she stood quietly not far from Lech... She measured the distance; no, it was still a little too short.
So she stopped.
Her pause immediately drew Yuwen Sheng's displeasure. He glared at her and took a few steps forward. Seeing that she was in the right position, Zheng Quchi quickly resumed singing.
During this time, Gan Xin went from being surprised and confused to finally understanding the result. He also finally learned how his master had escaped from Yuwen Sheng's clutches. Previously, she had been vague about the matter and refused to reveal the truth. It turned out that she had escaped by "selling her art".
Who would have thought that Yuwen Sheng, the supreme general of Ye Kingdom, would enjoy listening to others sing?
However, the melody and lyrics sung by the master are indeed unique. Unlike the solemn and elegant style of music nowadays, it is full of deep sadness, while also having a grand and unrestrained spirit. It is like a realization and transcendence of a painful experience. Listening to it, one feels as if they are in the scene of the song.
"Quickly—pull it!"
With a shout, a net was stretched across the ground around the bait, Leqi. As the net closed, it also shut down the four steel doors, trapping Yuwen Sheng inside in an instant.
At this moment, Gan Xin seized the opportunity and threw a rake, which hooked Yuwen Sheng's wrist. With a pull, he took the opportunity to pull the sword out of Yuwen Sheng's hand.
Now unarmed, he gripped the steel bar, unable to break through even with brute force, because at the same time he was under the influence of a drug, which they had scavenged from the Kezhu tribe. Fearing it wouldn't be enough to knock him out, Zheng Quchi had deliberately increased the dosage.
Knowing how formidable he was, Zheng Quchi naturally made thorough preparations.
As expected, even a large dose of sleeping pills couldn't make Yuwen Sheng faint. He slumped down, stubbornly refusing to fall, his beast-like crimson eyes even more murky and murderous than they had been a few days ago.
Gan Xin remained firmly in front of Zheng Quchi. He was unsure whether Yuwen Sheng had truly lost the ability to harm anyone, and he feared that if he was careless, the other party might suddenly attack.
"Calm down, be careful not to hurt yourself," Zheng Quchi advised, frowning.
He heard her voice. Black Gu patterns crawled across her pale face, her expression malevolent and demonic. This was the first time he had spoken in so long: "I'll kill you—"
Zheng Quchi successfully transferred all of Yuwen Sheng's hatred for Leqi onto her.
She no longer needs to worry about not being able to find him, because he will continue to hunt her down.
Zheng Quchi sighed deeply: "What am I even doing this for...?"
After locking Yuwen Sheng in a steel cage, she transported him back to the camp in a truck. After being away for several days, she finally managed to bring him back safely.
"Which would you like, steamed buns or braised pork?"
When it was time to eat, no one else dared to approach Yuwen Sheng. Zheng Quchi was too embarrassed to make things difficult for them, so he had no choice but to bite the bullet and go eat by himself.
Yuwen Sheng seemed to have calmed down, but a glance into his deep, dark eyes revealed the lurking malice of a sinister creature.
His gaze swept over the braised meat, but he didn't say a word.
Zheng Quchi had been observing him closely and naturally hadn't missed a thing: "Braised meat?"
She handed him a solid piece of braised beef, but he wouldn't take it. Zheng Quchi thought he was weak because of the drug, so she had to tear off a piece like a mother hen and feed it to him.
After a moment's hesitation, he opened his mouth and bit down...meat and her finger.
"Hiss, quick, quick, let go—"
Upon hearing Zheng Quchi's cry of pain, Gan Xin immediately came over and struck Yuwen Sheng's forehead with force. Fortunately, Zheng Quchi shouted "Don't hurt him!" so he changed his position and struck Yuwen Sheng's shoulder and neck, causing him to turn his head to the side.
Zheng Quchi seized the opportunity to forcefully pull his hand out, but there was already a bloody tooth mark on it.
