Chapter 58 Clash of Minds

That's right, Zheng Quchi wanted to tell him that she didn't discriminate against people like him who had different sexual orientations, so he could totally treat her like a sister.

She just hoped he wouldn't look at her with that hostile and angry gaze anymore.

Zheng Quchi thought that his understanding and agreement with him would deeply move him and earn him +100 points of favorability, thus becoming allies who had shared each other's most important secrets.

But to everyone's surprise, Wang Zebang's face darkened instantly, and his eyes became more wary and hostile than ever before.

He was so angry he gritted his teeth and said, "Sang Xuanqing, don't even think about it!"

I was startled by his sudden change of expression.

"What...what happened to me now?"

Zheng Quchi was completely bewildered and felt wronged. Could it be that she had misunderstood him? What he wanted was not support and approval, but rather someone to persuade him to pull back from the brink.

Even if she misunderstood him, what does that have to do with whether she wants to stop thinking about him or not?

Seeing her still wearing that "hypocritical and innocent" expression, Wang Zebang said sharply, "In short, you'd better always remember your place and keep a proper distance from the general, otherwise... don't blame me for being impolite!"

General...were they just discussing their views on homosexuality? How did he suddenly bring up Yuwen Sheng...?

Zheng Quchi's expression froze. Her eyes widened as if she had suddenly discovered some deadly secret, and she quickly zipped up her mouth to shut.

Oh my god.

It turns out that the person Wang's adjutant was infatuated with was General Yuwen!

He's so daring.

Every time she saw that murderous tyrant, her impression of him worsened, and she wished she could stay as far away from him as possible. But he, on the other hand, was planning to "go for it."

"Zebang, now that you've brought the man, hurry to the main camp. The general is waiting."

When Wei Yao waited for a long time without seeing anyone, he jogged over to check the situation. He saw "Sang Xuanqing" bowing his head and listening to the reprimand, while Wang Zebang looked furious.

What happened?

"Remember this!" Wang Zebang said, then turned and stormed off, leaving Wei Yao behind.

"Take this person to the general."

"Hey, what's wrong?" Wei Yao couldn't call out to anyone, so she could only look helplessly at Sang Xuanqing and said cheekily, "You're something else. He's usually so quiet, but now you've made him so angry that he's making a scene."

Zheng Quchi found these words strange.

He scolded her, but the fault wasn't his; it was hers that made him angry.

She finally realized that none of the people who could follow Yuwen Sheng around were normal. Anyone who could be normal probably couldn't keep up with his twisted, labyrinthine thought process.

This person looked like he was always gossiping. In order not to accidentally let slip that Wang Zebang was gay and cause him to hold a grudge and hunt her down, she decided it was best to keep quiet.

Seeing that she remained silent, Wei Yao glanced at her sideways.

Seeing that she was already short, and now she had her head buried in her chest like that, he almost had to go down to the ground to pull her out.

Snap!

"A real man should stand tall and straight. With your back hunched like that, do you even want to grow taller?"

Zheng Quchi flicked his wrist like a shrimp, then rubbed his back, which was sore from being pricked by a sore diaper: "Yes, I want to."

This really hit a nerve with her; who wants to be short?

"Then stand up straight. If you keep your back bent for too long, you'll forget how to stand up straight and you'll always be inferior to others," Wei Yao said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Zheng Quchi felt it made perfect sense.

Yeah, she didn't steal anything, so why is she acting all timid and cowardly like she's ashamed of something?

She no longer slouched or lowered her head, but stood tall and straight: "Now, do I look taller?"

Wei Yao chuckled and patted her shoulder: "So eager to grow taller, huh? Then you'll have to exercise more in the future, otherwise if you stay this thin and small, I'm afraid you won't be able to find a wife."

In their dialect, a wife is called "婆姨" (póyí).

"I'm only sixteen this year. If I work hard for a few more years, I should be able to grow a little taller. Look at how tall you are, General. How do you usually train?" She looked up at him, admiring his tall and strong physique.

Wei Yao chuckled and ruffled her hair: "You're really too forward, trying to steal my secret to growing taller?"

“This isn’t stealing, it’s asking for advice. Brother, teach me, and if it really works, I’ll offer you a gift.” Zheng Quchi grinned, showing off his white teeth.

Both of them were outgoing social butterflies, and they soon started calling each other brothers. It was mainly because one of them was intentionally trying to get close to her, and the other had long been curious about her, so they hit it off immediately.

He could tell she was subtly sarcastic and deliberately trying to belittle him. Wei Yao said, "There's no need for offerings. Your brother Wei isn't dead yet. If you want to grow taller, you need to practice the 'Soft Bone Technique.' When you have the chance, your brother Wei will teach you a few moves. I guarantee you'll grow taller within a year."

"Is 'Soft Bone Skill' a martial art?" At her age, her bones and muscles are already fully developed; she probably can't practice martial arts.

"Practicing martial arts? You're too late. Soft Bone Technique isn't martial arts; it's just a kind of skill at best..."

Upon reaching the main command tent, Wei Yao stopped explaining and only kindly reminded her before letting her in, "The general isn't in a good mood right now, so you'd better watch your words."

Upon hearing this, Zheng Quchi's face turned pale.

When he's in a bad mood, what does he do when he sees her? Does he use her as a punching bag to vent his anger?

She admitted she chickened out: "How about I wait until the general is in a better mood before I come?"

She turned to leave, but Wei Yao easily grabbed the back of her collar, forcefully turned her around, and pushed her inside.

Looking at her dazed face, he smiled and instructed, "Little Sang, you must make the general happy, otherwise I may never see you again."
