Chapter 104 Feigning Calm

The second-in-command turned around and asked, "Aren't you all full of energy and tired? How about we go and give you some drills?"

Everyone quickly pretended to yawn.

"I'm so sleepy! Time to sleep, time to sleep."

Then everyone left.

"You'll have a tough night, Second Boss, there's still a lot to do."

"Yes, we must be like oxen, working hard to plow the fields."

"I also want to have land to farm."

Another person patted his head and said, "Go wash up and go to bed."

Everyone burst into laughter again.

The second-in-command carried Jiang Wei back to her room and threw her onto the bed.

He went to the table, picked up the wine jug, and gulped down several mouthfuls of wine.

Jiang Wei quietly opened her eyes and looked around the room.

She searched inside for anything that could help her escape this bandit's den.

The second-in-command just happened to see her open her eyes. "You're awake?"

Jiang Wei suppressed her fear and slowly sat up.

"Where is this? Why are you tied up? I was just passing by. If I have offended you, I apologize."

The second-in-command took a few more big gulps of wine from the flask, then lay down on the edge of the bed and sat facing Jiang Wei.

Jiang Wei's heart was trembling, but she had to appear calm on the surface. She moved her body back slightly, trying to keep her distance from the bandit.

The second-in-command grabbed her arm and pulled Jiang Wei closer to him.

A delicate fragrance wafted into his nostrils, and the aroma made him even more intoxicated by the wine than when he was in the cold wind.

Jiang Wei wanted to retreat, but her strength was too weak compared to the bandits; it was like a floating object trying to shake a giant tree.

The second-in-command picked up Jiang Wei and turned her around so that her back was facing him. "What are you afraid of? Although I am not a handsome young man with fair skin, I am still a good-looking and strong man."

"They're better at making you a happier woman than they are." He reached out to untie the ropes binding Jiang Wei's hands, looking at her reddened palms and wrists.

"Tsk...tsk...tsk...Girls are so delicate. Look at these hands, look what they've become."

Jiang Wei tried her best to calm herself down and say, "Thank you, Second Master."

After the bandits untied the ropes binding her hands, Jiang Wei pretended to be calm and bent down to untie the ropes binding her feet as well.

She got up and walked around the room, looking at what would be advantageous to her while also maintaining a certain distance from him.

The second-in-command sat on the edge of the bed watching Jiang Wei move around, without stopping her.

It's impossible for a woman to escape from their village.

Therefore, he wasn't worried about Jiang Wei running away at all. The second-in-command let Jiang Wei look around as if she were strolling through a market.

Jiang Wei calmed down a bit and stood by the table where the second-in-command had been drinking.

"Why don't we make a deal, brave man?" Jiang Wei offered as bait, hoping to negotiate with him and get him to let her go.

The second-in-command, propped up on the bed, gazed at Jiang with a probing smile, "Oh! Tell me..."

"I suppose you've already found out who I am by arresting me, and you're only after money. If I told you that I would give you as much money as you want as long as you release me, and that I would give you a share of the profits from all my shops every year, you wouldn't have to resort to robbery and theft to make a living."

There would be no risk of being arrested by the government, and the brothers would not lose their lives. They could marry, have children, be filial to their parents, and live a life of family reunion. Jiang Wei stated the conditions as calmly as possible.

The second-in-command's smile was meaningful. "Finally, you've stopped pretending. I'll marry you and make you my wife." He paused deliberately. "Isn't that the same?"

When the second-in-command first saw Jiang Wei, he thought she was just like any other ordinary woman, only slightly prettier.

They also discovered that she was slightly bolder than other women.

Now he discovered that she was a little smarter than others, and even the scent on her body was different from other women.

It was as if she had instantly captured his heart.

The second-in-command looked at Jiang Wei's small face and tapped the bed absentmindedly with his hand.

“Come over here and talk to me, I’ll think about it,” the second-in-command said.

Seeing that the bandits did not intend to use force, Jiang Wei secretly breathed a sigh of relief and calmly sat down at the table.

Pretending to be somewhat embarrassed, he said, "Brave warrior, could you give me some food? I haven't had dinner and I'm a little hungry."

"Didn't you eat a bowl of porridge?" the second-in-command blurted out.

Isn't it said that young ladies from wealthy families have small appetites?

'How did he know he drank a bowl of porridge? Was he in the crowd at the time?' Jiang Wei immediately confirmed her guess.

She feigned ignorance, "How did you know I only drank one bowl of porridge today? Did you drink porridge too?"

Jiang Wei sat at the table without moving. It was more important whether or not she was given food; as long as she didn't come looking for her, that was fine.

The second-in-command shouted, "Get me some food!"

The bandits on night watch outside responded loudly, "Alright, Second Boss, I'll be right there."

A short while later, the bandits who had been outside brought in some food, still steaming hot, along with a pot of wine.

"Brave warrior, why don't you go back and rest first? I won't run away, and I don't think I can escape anyway." Jiang Wei picked up her chopsticks to prepare her meal.

There should be no poison in these dishes. No one outside would know they were for her, and she's just a young woman; these people probably wouldn't even take her seriously.

Jiang Wei ate with peace of mind.

And I must say, the food prepared by the chef here is really good.

But she had no interest in tasting it.

She ate a few bites, hoping to reassure the bandit and also to conserve her strength so she could escape when the opportunity arose.
