Jiang Wei said goodbye to her maternal grandfather's family so that they could all get some rest and take a nap.
She knew how long her maternal grandfather's family had been worried about her since she was lost.
She followed Xiao Zhan with Mingzhao as they left the Chen family's gate.
She walked to the carriage to say goodbye to Xiao Zhan. He had been working hard all night for her sake, and he had also traveled back and forth from Lanyu during the day. He was exhausted.
She even slept in his arms, her body feeling extremely tired and sore.
Xiao Zhan insisted on sending her back, and Jiang Wei couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she had to agree.
Just as Mingzhao was about to board the carriage, a loud and enthusiastic voice reached his ears.
"Young master, would you like to ride a horse? I'll teach you!"
Mingzhao turned around and saw Qingfeng standing on his horse, smiling at him, full of vigor and vitality.
Mingzhao looked at him in confusion. They hadn't slept for a day and a night, and he was even more tired than her, so how could he be so energetic, while she had been feeling sleepy since her sister returned safely?
Mingzhao looked at General Xiao, who was in front of him and had boarded the carriage with his elder sister. He was also in high spirits and had a steady gait, showing no signs of fatigue.
When Qingfeng asked Mingzhao if he wanted to ride a horse, Xiao Zhan turned around and looked at him with a warm smile in his eyes, as if bathed in a spring breeze in the winter.
"Young Master Jiang, why don't you ride back with Qingfeng and practice a bit? Once your sister and I are done with our busy schedules, I'll give you a horse to ride," Xiao Zhan said, acting like an elder brother.
Mingzhao instinctively wanted to refuse. A horse was too valuable, and he couldn't accept a reward without having done anything right. Besides, General Xiao had not only saved him and his sister before, but now it was he who had saved his sister.
He had no way to repay him and didn't know how to thank him!
How could we possibly want his horse?
"Come on up. You really enjoyed riding last time, and I've been wanting to teach you! But I haven't had the chance yet. How about I be your riding instructor now?" Qingfeng said, pulling Mingzhao onto the horse and sitting him down in front of him before he could answer.
"My lord, sit tight. Let's go ahead while no one's around. I'll take you for a ride around this capital city." With that, Qingfeng spurred his horse and rode off. "My lord, sit tight. I suppose you haven't had a chance to see the capital city yet! I'll show you around today."
Jiang Rou has been very busy since Ming Zhao returned, and hasn't had a chance to take him out for a proper tour yet.
Qingfeng was pleased with his own cleverness, and he had done another good deed.
This will give the master some time alone with Miss Jiang. Shouldn't the master increase his monthly allowance after returning to the palace?
Xiao Zhan watched the horse disappear into the distance, feeling very happy.
Jiang Wei looked at Xiao Zhan with some concern, "The roads are slippery in the snow, are you really okay?"
Her younger brother was weaker, and if he fell off a horse, he wouldn't be as strong as the adult men.
"Don't worry, the environment at the border is dozens of times worse than this. Our soldiers can ride horses as if they were on flat ground. What's this?"
"Besides, Mingzhao is a man. We can't be afraid of him getting hurt again just because he has suffered a lot over the years. It's inevitable for people to grow up." Xiao Zhan dispelled Jiang Wei's concerns.
Jiang Wei nodded in agreement.
Xiao Zhan's use of "we" became increasingly natural, and Jiang Wei didn't notice anything amiss...
Xiao Zhan's smile hadn't faded all day. He spoke in his magnetic voice, "Come in! It's cold outside. I'll take you back to your residence."
Jiang Wei and Xiao Zhan were left alone in the carriage again. In this small and private space, Jiang Wei would think about what happened after he rescued her from the bandit's den.
The dignified prince personally washed her face, for her...
She unconsciously felt her face getting hot. Jiang Wei silently turned her head and gently lifted the curtain a little, letting the breeze from outside caress her face.
She found the wind to be just right on her face, and her whole body felt warm.
Xiao Zhan looked at Jiang Wei tenderly, watching her face turn slightly red, watching her become a little flustered, watching her cover up by lifting the curtains and pretending to peek outside for some fresh air.
Xiao Zhan couldn't resist wanting to get closer to her, and his body honestly leaned in.
Xiao Zhan sat down beside her and gently held Jiang Wei's hand. "You should take care of yourself while enjoying the scenery. It's too cold outside. Be careful not to catch a cold."
Jiang Wei looked at Xiao Zhan holding her hand, and her face, which had been touched by the cool breeze, turned red again.
She pulled her hand away, saying, "I'm not cold." With that, she withdrew her hand from Xiao Zhan's.
She had an injury on her hand, so Xiao Zhan didn't use any force.
Xiao Zhan looked at his empty hand and twitched a few of his fingers.
“Yes, it’s always good to be careful.” Xiao Zhan didn’t argue with her.
Jiang Wei felt that the atmosphere today was somewhat different from usual, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what was different.
When Jiang Wei came to her senses, she realized that Xiao Zhan was already sitting next to her, the two of them so close that they could feel each other's breath.
"When did he arrive?" Jiang Wei asked, feeling a little shy and uncomfortable.
I wanted to move to the other side, "I'll sit over there, why has the weather gotten so hot?"
Jiang Wei made an excuse, fanning her face with her hand, "I'll sit over there."
Xiao Zhan pressed down on her shoulder, "I'll come over, you sit down."
The smile in Xiao Zhan's eyes deepened, making it seem to Jiang Wei as if he were laughing at her.
The questioner, seemingly trying to cover up his misdeeds, asked, "General Xiao, aren't you hot?"
"It's hot." Xiao Zhan nodded in response without hesitation.
Even in this cold weather, they're all hot...
They chatted casually for a while, and soon the carriage arrived at the gate of the Jiang residence.
Jiang Wei looked at the gates of her own residence and secretly breathed a sigh of relief, 'Finally here.'
