Grandpa Fukang pointed to the people standing in a row at the door.
Jiang Wei curtsied and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Your Majesty. This is just a small matter for me. How could I possibly trouble Your Majesty? Your Majesty is busy with the affairs of state and the people. It is my fault for causing Your Majesty such trouble."
My daughter has some belongings in the Marquis's residence, which were either given away or lent out. Now that the two families have no further relationship, they should be taken back.
I request that Eunuch Fukang send someone with me to retrieve the registers. I am willing to donate these items to the national treasury free of charge.
Jiang Wei took a bag of silver from Lu Zhu's hand and handed it to Eunuch Fu Kang. "It's so cold today, please come all this way. Please have a cup of hot tea to warm yourself up."
The bag in Fukang's hand was a bit heavy. He smiled and put it into his pocket. "Miss Jiang, you are too kind. I am very satisfied with the tea served at the Marquis's residence today. I will send someone to fetch it for you right away."
Jiang Wei readily agreed, "That's easy. Last month I sent five catties to the Marquis's residence, and I imagine they didn't finish it before giving it to my father-in-law. I should have sent him some fresh tea, but I only received ten catties in total. The Marquis's residence took five catties, and my family divided it up..."
Fukang nodded with an expression that said, "I understand." He added, "If you don't mind, we thank Miss Jiang in advance."
Jiang Wei bowed to Eunuch Fukang, without even glancing at the Song family members.
She left the Marquis's residence with light steps.
Jiang Wei walked to the carriage. Chen Shiyu stood tall and elegant beside the carriage with his arms crossed, looking at her with a smile.
"How did you know I was here?" Jiang Wei asked him as she got into the carriage.
Chen Shiyu followed her into the carriage, saying, "Guess."
"Where is your own carriage?" Jiang Wei asked, sitting in the carriage.
"I walked here, intending to just stroll around near my house, but I got lost and ended up here. I found your carriage parked there, so I waited and waited... I was hungry and cold..." Chen Shiyu said sadly, pouting.
"You've been to Kyoto before, haven't you?" Jiang Wei said, unconvinced.
Chen Shiyu had his own explanation: "I was only a few years old at that time, how could I remember the way?"
Jiang Wei thought about the distance between her maternal grandfather's house and the Marquis's mansion, and naturally didn't believe him. She said, "You're really amazing. If you were an ox, you could plow at least two acres of land."
Chen Shiyu saw that she was still joking, which meant that she was not affected.
“Treat me to a meal. I’m hungry. I want to go to the best restaurant in the capital.” Chen Shiyu stared straight at her.
She had no choice but to agree. She told Lu Zhu to give some silver to the eunuch who had gone with her to the Jiang residence to get the booklet, and then to give the booklet to him.
He then took his cousin to Zuichunlou. Chen Shiyu went up to a private room on the second floor in high spirits, ordered about ten dishes and a pot of wine.
"Can you finish it?" Jiang Wei asked, frowning.
“I’m just a country bumpkin, I’ve never seen anything good to eat or play with, so what’s wrong with eating more?” Chen Shiyu said this without any pressure.
Jiang Wei: "…………" This person is really shameless………… How can they even say that?
After ordering, Chen Shiyu walked to the corridor outside the private room while waiting for the food to be served. He wanted to see what the diners in the main hall were ordering so he could try it too.
Unexpectedly, I ran into an acquaintance in a place I knew nothing about.
He waved to the man, "Little General, Little General, over here." His smile was as bright as the sun.
Xiao Zhan looked up at him, and Chen Shiyu hurriedly ran to invite him up.
"Young General, are you here for a meal too?" The host was incredibly enthusiastic. Back home, he wouldn't have wanted to dine with him; he was quiet and uninteresting.
Well, having something is better than having nothing, right?
"Young General, I've ordered quite a few signature dishes, let's eat together." Chen Shiyu thought that Xiao Zhan had been stationed at the border for many years and probably hadn't tasted the delicacies of the First Restaurant.
Despite the warm invitation, Xiao Zhan didn't react and went upstairs on his own.
Chen Shiyu, having gotten used to it, went over and extended a warm invitation again.
Seeing him standing so close, Qingfeng felt a pang of worry for him.
Chen Shiyu felt no discomfort at all. "My cousin is treating me to a meal today, which is rare for her. I'm going to bring a few more people and eat her out of house and home. It's a pity I don't know many people in the capital. General, come along!"
Xiao Zhan paused on the stairs, letting out a soft "Hmm" as he stood there.
Chen Shiyu realized, "Oh, oh, oh," that this meant he was to be taken away. He quickly stepped forward to lead the way, afraid that the man might change his mind and not go.
Xiao Zhan walked to the door of the private room and looked at Jiang Wei's figure.
Jiang Wei looked out the window, sat in a chair and drank tea. Her long, ink-black hair fell to her waist, which was so slender it could be encircled with one hand.
Hearing Chen Shiyu's voice as he returned, she didn't turn around. "All the dishes are served. Eat as much as you want. If you can't finish them, take them home."
Chen Shiyu said, "Okay, okay, okay," and told her to come and eat quickly.
Jiang Wei turned around and was startled to find that there was another person in the private room. She curtsied and sat down at the dining table.
Chen Shiyu devoured the food like a whirlwind, picking each dish into his bowl to taste. "Some dishes tasted the same as yesterday, but even better than yesterday's."
"Really? It's probably because this is made fresh and eaten immediately; yesterday's was reheated." Jiang Wei said, taking a bite of the crispy duck.
Chen Shiyu took a bite of the sweet and sour pork ribs and said, "No, it's because you specially invited me to eat this all by myself today, so it's especially delicious."
Qingfeng touched his nose outside the door.
Chen Shiyu ate to his heart's content.
Xiao Zhan paused slightly, his gaze drifting towards her.
"Yes, yes, yes," Jiang Wei piled two mouthfuls of food onto Chen Shiyu's plate and whispered, "Eat more, you'll stuff yourself to death."
She looked up and saw the person opposite her staring at her. She gave an awkward smile and said, "Don't waste it."
Jiang Wei, having finished her meal, watched Chen Shiyu devour this and that, looking as if he'd plowed two acres of land. "You really walked there?" she asked.
