Xiao Zhan walked to the table and placed the food box in his hand on it. "Breakfast is ready. The kitchen didn't prepare enough ingredients, so I'm afraid it won't be enough. I'll eat with you. You don't mind, do you?"
He placed the food from the food box on the table and turned to look at Jiang Wei with a questioning gaze.
Jiang Wei nodded. Why wouldn't she agree? He had saved the three of them, mistress and servant, last night, and now he wanted to eat his food.
Jiang Wei tiptoed toward the table.
Xiao Zhan quickly put down his chopsticks and went over to help her.
"I can do it myself." Jiang Wei refused his help and walked forward on her own.
Xiao Zhan didn't force her, but stepped aside and looked at her with a frown.
Jiang Wei felt a little embarrassed and looked around for Lian Sang and Lu Zhu.
Because her body was bent over, her clothes fell to the ground. Jiang Wei didn't pay attention to her footing and stepped on her own clothes, causing her to fall forward.
Jiang Wei was alarmed that her old injury hadn't healed and a new one had been added. Just when she thought she was about to fall,
With lightning speed, Xiao Zhan pulled her into his arms.
I carried her to the table and put her down to sit.
Xiao Zhan ladled out a bowl of millet porridge and placed it in front of her.
Jiang Wei forced herself to remain calm, the heat on her face had subsided, but her ears betrayed her, "It's fine to have Lian Sang and the others come. Thank you, General Xiao."
How could she keep asking Xiao Zhan to take care of her? He was, after all, a general.
Xiao Zhan, however, did not take it seriously and acted naturally, saying, "I let them go have their meal."
The implication was that there were only the two of them in the room.
Jiang Wei nodded to indicate that she understood, and with her bandaged hand, she took a spoon, scooped up some porridge, and put it in her mouth.
Xiao Zhan couldn't help but think of that boy, wondering just how old he was.
Lost in thought, he unconsciously picked up a piece of shredded potato from Jiang Wei's plate and placed it in her bowl.
Jiang Wei paused in her porridge-serving motion, looking at Xiao Zhan with a puzzled expression.
Xiao Zhan tightened his grip on his chopsticks, his face frank. "I see you're not feeling well, so eat more so you'll recover faster."
He felt a little apprehensive, fearing that Jiang Wei would refuse.
Jiang Wei glanced at Xiao Zhan and nodded to indicate that she would not refute him.
But why was he so good to her? Jiang Wei thought about it carefully and concluded that it must be because of her maternal grandfather.
"Thank you so much, Uncle..." Jiang Wei blurted out involuntarily.
Then I saw Xiao Zhan's face darken.
Jiang Wei quickly changed her words, "Thank you, General Xiao. General Xiao is truly chivalrous and righteous, always ready to help others. He is a pillar of the nation. It is a blessing for the people to live in such a country."
Quickly, give him a few compliments.
Xiao Zhan: "..." Hoping she will remember him is probably a waste of time.
But she still has to meet a boy, what should she do?
Xiao Zhan tentatively asked, "After we finish eating, shall I take you back to the capital?"
Seeing that Xiao Zhan wasn't angry, Jiang Wei felt relieved.
This person was actually quite nice; I gradually relaxed.
Jiang Wei shook her head. "I haven't finished taking care of my business here yet. I'll go back after I've finished it."
Then he looked at Xiao Zhan and asked, "General Xiao, what brings you here? Have you finished your business?"
She thought for a moment and then said, "It didn't cause any delay, did it?"
Xiao Zhan told her about coming here.
No wonder he was able to save himself the moment he fell from the tree.
The two chatted casually for a few more minutes before Xiao Zhan left.
A little while later, Dewdrop came in with her belly round and full, holding up her hands wrapped up like a rice dumpling.
“Girl… Uncle Li found him and he’s alright. Those bandits didn’t find him.”
"It's good that he's alright. Where is he now?" Jiang Wei asked.
Dewdrop said he was resting next door.
Jiang Wei asked Bian Sang if he could drive.
Just as Lian Sang was about to say yes, Xiao Zhan's voice came from the doorway, "Where are you going? I'll take you there."
Jiang Wei had become familiar with him, but she felt embarrassed to trouble him with everything.
Xiao Zhan seemed to know what she was thinking. "I've finished my business. We'll go back together after you're done. If you go back by yourself and run into bad guys again, then I'll have saved you for nothing."
Jiang Wei thought about it and agreed. Who knew what kind of people they might encounter? With him around, at least their safety would be guaranteed.
When we return to Kyoto, we'll send him more gifts so that his hard work won't be in vain.
Lian Sang followed Jiang Wei into the carriage and took care of her personally. Lu Zhu had injuries, so Jiang Wei let her rest in the courtyard.
Dewdrop insisted on going with Jiang Wei, but Xiao Zhan also felt that she was a bit of an eyesore, so he kept nagging her to wait in the courtyard.
The breeze was scattering haphazardly in the wind; was his master eagerly becoming a stable boy?
He actually wants to catch the train himself? Just kill him!
Qingfeng, being quite perceptive, asked Xiao Zhan to go inside the carriage to rest, saying he would drive it himself.
Lian Sang got out of the carriage and sat outside with Qingfeng.
Xiao Zhan stepped into the carriage. "Miss Jiang won't mind, will she?"
Jiang Wei wouldn't mind at all; he was the one who saved her last night, otherwise she would definitely be dead in the wilderness right now.
Besides, how could a general like him drive a carriage for her?
Jiang Wei then smiled and said, “General Xiao, what are you saying? General Xiao is a great general who fights on the battlefield. How can I ask General Xiao to drive my carriage? Wouldn’t that be a waste of his talents?”
Xiao Zhan sat down opposite Jiang Wei, and the carriage slowly moved forward.
Following the address given by Chen Hui, the group arrived at a manor.
Zhuangzi's house was nestled against a mountain, with a river flowing quietly beside it. It must have been extremely cool in the summer, but somewhat damp and cold in the winter.
It was already afternoon when Jiang Wei and the others arrived. The cold wind blew from the river, cutting across Jiang Wei's delicate face like a knife.
Chen Hui appeared out of nowhere and came to their side.
