We can't let her die so easily; that would be too easy on her. We need to make her suffer a fate worse than death, until she begs us to let her go.
Jiang Wei casually curtsied to Jiang Zaishui, saying, "Father, you're busy, so I'll take my leave."
"Master, she's trying to kill me! Master, save me!" Lian Sang dragged Aunt Liu along like a pig waiting to be slaughtered.
"How could you do this to an unmarried young woman? It's too cruel!" Jiang Zaishui angrily rebuked Jiang Wei.
"Does Father mean that I can get married?" Jiang Wei sneered. "I don't care about reputation. I only know that murderers pay with their lives. Now that things have come to this, I will take back everything that is owed to me and everything that should be repaid."
“If Father is dissatisfied, he can move out. After all, you are so principled and would not despise my mother’s things.”
"My mother has been having concubines and fathering children in her residence for over ten years, which tarnishes your reputation."
Jiang Zaishui's face turned ashen. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
"Father, are you taking advantage of my ignorance? The official documents are in my possession. Do you want the whole world to see them?"
“Lian Sang let the old woman beat him right there in the yard.”
Jiang Wei left without looking back.
Jiang Zai Shui slumped in the chair, gripping the armrests, his fingernails digging into the wood.
In the end, she became a potential threat; I should have killed her back then.
Aunt Liu's mournful cries reached Jiang Zai Shui's ears.
"Jiang Wei, you bitch, you'll die a horrible death! I only left your brother on the estate to raise, and he came back to find you perfectly fine. How can you be so heartless as to refuse to let me go?"
"If I had known, I would have just drowned him, so you wouldn't have had a chance to reunite."
Jiang Wei picked up the dagger she was using to peel fruit, emanating an aura of hell that added another layer of gloom to the already cold weather.
"Do you really want to die that badly? Are you saying these things to make me take pity on you and let you go? Or do you want me to kill you on the spot? Or do you want my father to come out and save you?"
Don't even dream about it. It's impossible. I will neither let you go nor kill you. I will slowly torture you and make you suffer even more than my brother. You think I don't know about the death of my mother? I know everything.
So how could I let you die so easily? I want to show you the good end of your two children. Just think about how the Song family will treat your pampered daughter as Song Yanxuan's concubine. And think about your spoiled son who has become a good-for-nothing. What kind of life will he lead in the future?
And you, with your delicate skin, without a doctor to examine you, without fine clothes and exquisite food, how will you fare?
Jiang Wei's face was calm, as if she were casually talking about something ordinary.
For the first time, Aunt Liu felt that Jiang Wei was like a demon who had returned from hell, and she was terrified from the bottom of her heart.
"Master won't let you off the hook," Aunt Liu said, still pinning her hopes on Jiang Zaishui.
Jiang Wei couldn't help but sneer, "Has he come out to save you from being beaten? Ridiculous!"
After Jiang Wei finished speaking, she plunged the dagger in her hand into Aunt Liu's arm.
Blood gushed out, and Aunt Liu fainted from the pain.
'This is just the beginning.' Jiang Wei got up and walked outside.
"After you're done beating her, drag her back. If you still want to beat her, splash her with water to wake her up and then continue beating her."
Jiang Yang stood at the gate of the courtyard. He had heard that Jiang Wei was beating his mother and wanted to teach her a lesson.
I was so scared that my legs were shaking, and I stood by the door, too afraid to come over.
Upon seeing Jiang Wei approach, he lowered his head and bowed respectfully to her.
This was the first time he had been so polite to Jiang Wei.
Jiang Wei didn't even glance at him before leaving.
Back at Breeze House.
Mingzhao had already changed into the new clothes Jiang Wei had bought for him and was standing in the courtyard waiting for Jiang Wei.
Seeing that Jiang Wei had not returned, he became anxious. He asked Chen Hui to take him to find his older sister, fearing that she might be bullied.
Chen Hui couldn't persuade him otherwise, and was about to take him out when Jiang Wei returned.
"Sister!" Mingzhao happily ran a few steps to greet her.
He carefully looked Jiang Wei over before finally putting his mind at ease.
Jiang Wei smiled in response, "I'll take you to see your place. I prepared everything before I even came to pick you up."
"Yes, my sister just got back, she'll rest for a while before going," Mingzhao replied to Jiang Wei with concern.
"Sister isn't tired, follow me." Jiang Wei led him outside.
"We'll go check out our lodgings and come right back. I'll introduce you to two people." Jiang Wei had already arranged for Aunt Xu and Jiang Wen to come over for dinner.
Jiang Wei led Ming Zhao to Xue Lan Courtyard. The two stood outside the gate, looking at the plaque above the gate.
“This is where our mother lived before she passed away, and this is where you were born,” Jiang Wei said, her voice choked with emotion as grief welled up inside her.
To avoid making Mingzhao uncomfortable, she suppressed her discomfort after a few breaths.
Mingzhao sensed the change in Jiang Wei's emotions. He suppressed his sadness and said in a light voice, "Sister, take me inside. Zhao'er has returned to the place where Mother lived before she passed away, just like returning to Mother's embrace."
"Um..." Jiang Wei replied with difficulty.
The siblings pushed open the door and went inside.
Jiang Wei had the courtyard tidied up perfectly, and the previous desolation and ruin were gone. It looked warm and cozy, but her mother was no longer there.
Mingzhao walked around the courtyard, where his mother lived. He felt as if his mother was still there.
"Sister, we must live well for Mother." Mingzhao suddenly said this.
He remembered his third uncle saying that if a deceased relative truly cared for their living relatives, then they would want their living relatives to live happily and well.
"Hmm..." Jiang Wei hadn't expected Ming Zhao to be so insightful.
The siblings were enjoying a warm and loving moment when an untimely person appeared.
"Sister, Jiang Wei is very fierce now, especially scary, I don't dare to go." Jiang Yang shrank behind Jiang Rou.
Jiang Rou grabbed him, insisting that Jiang Yang go with her to confront Jiang Wei, "Where did your usual spirit go? Now that she's beaten your mother, he's afraid of her. What are you afraid of her for?"
She had just gone to find her mother, but the guards at the gate stopped her from going in.
She ran into Jiang Yang and heard that Jiang Wei had beaten her mother, so she went to find Jiang Wei despite her freshly treated wounds.
"How dare that bitch Jiang Wei hit my mother and lock her up? Who do you think you are? How dare you do such a thing!" Jiang Rou continued to hurl insults.
Jiang Yang hid behind her and said, "Sis, let's go. She'll beat us up too if she doesn't."
Jiang Rou was furious. He was usually the most domineering person at home, so why was he so timid now?
He was scared out of his wits after being frightened by Jiang Wei once.
Jiang Rou pulled Jiang Yang through the door, saying, "Jiang Wei, quickly get rid of those people and send someone to fetch a doctor for my mother. If anything happens to her, I will make sure the Marquis of Chang'an's mansion gives you a hard time."
