Wang Congwang said with dissatisfaction, snorting through his nose.
“What kind of business can a young woman do? If she knows what’s good for her, she’ll back down,” another man said.
The man was short and somewhat overweight. He added, "If she's really stubborn, we'll find someone else to deal with her."
“I don’t know what you’re afraid of. She’s a young woman who’s been forced to go out and do business. Will her family support her? Look at her just now, hugging and kissing a man outside. She’s obviously a promiscuous woman,” Wang Congwang said, stroking his mustache.
"Go back!" He was very dissatisfied; the methods employed by Master Liu and his ilk were far from effective.
In his opinion, it would have been better to just lock her in the door.
However, Wang Congwang was also very cunning, and naturally he was unwilling to let everyone enjoy the fruits of his labor after he had done all the work.
After returning Jiang Wei to An Sheng Ji, Xiao Zhan left reluctantly.
Jiang Wei told Lian Sang to give all the food to the staff, and then sat down and thought about what had happened. She knew that everything that had happened today was not an accident but a deliberate act. She could also guess that the group of merchants were trying to intimidate her, to force her to comply or to shut down her business.
The noise outside the door pulled Jiang Wei back to reality, and a familiar voice rang in her ears.
"I already told you, I know the owner here. Isn't the owner Jiang Wei? Let me through!" Song Fangfang shouted arrogantly.
With a look of disgust, she covered her nose with a handkerchief. "Stay away from me. People like you will dirty my clothes. This is the finest material. Even if you sold your whole family, you still couldn't afford to pay for it."
“But you have to wait in line too,” a weak voice came timidly from the crowd. Song Fangfang frowned and looked down at the voice.
Everyone had their heads down, so she couldn't figure out who it was. "Who was speaking just now? If you want to speak, come out and say it. Why are you afraid?"
"I am the legitimate daughter of the Marquis of Chang'an. You should think carefully before you offend me!" Song Fangfang arrogantly sized up the crowd.
No one dared to offend her, for fear of bringing trouble upon their own family.
People quickly made way for her; they were all ordinary people and dared not offend the high-ranking daughter of a noble family.
Seeing everyone bowing their heads and behaving meekly, Song Fangfang felt her vanity fully satisfied. She had suffered quite a bit of mistreatment from those noble ladies these past few days.
She struck a pose, like a proud peacock, and walked past the crowd to An Sheng Ji.
"Where is your boss? Why isn't he coming out to greet us?" Song Fangfang said unhappily, her gaze passing over the shop assistant and looking into the shop.
Jiang Wei slowly got up and walked out step by step, looking at Song Fangfang expressionlessly, watching her take the next step.
Song Fangfang stood there, waiting for Jiang Wei to fawn over her and respectfully invite her in, since she was now a guest.
It would be good to let everyone see the grandeur of the Marquis's mansion and her noble status, but Jiang Wei didn't come forward to greet her with a smile and invite her in for a long time.
Song Fangfang said sarcastically, "Is this how you do business, sister-in-law? You don't even know to come out and greet your customers. No wonder your place is full of lowly people. You don't even have a decent person here."
Song Fangfang suddenly realized something and smiled, "I almost forgot that you have already been rejected by my elder brother. Otherwise, given the status of my Marquis's Mansion, why would I let a young master's wife show her face in public?"
If I hadn't heard it from Miss Hong, I would never have known you were in such dire straits that you had to fend for yourself among these lowly people.
Jiang Wei sneered, "Have you no shame? Don't you know what happened with the annulment of the engagement?"
"Miss Song, what brings you here today? Have you already hired servants and are you going out to buy things yourself? May I ask if you have enough money with you? As you can see, we don't offer credit for small businesses, not even your Chang'an Marquis's mansion. Who knows when you'll be able to pay it back?"
Jiang Wei was extremely annoyed. She didn't have time to go and collect the debt from them, but Song Fangfang kept jumping in front of her to disgust her.
She showed her no respect whatsoever, "Do you want to buy grain or charcoal? How much do you want? If you can't afford it, move aside and don't block the way."
"Jiang Wei, are you courting death?" Song Fangfang pointed at Jiang Wei and cursed. She didn't expect that this bitch, who had already fallen to the level of a lowly merchant's daughter, would still be so arrogant.
When Jiang Rou went to see her, she secretly told her that ever since that slut picked up a bastard child, Lord Jiang had stopped liking her and was looking for someone to marry her off.
Whether she becomes a second wife or a concubine is irrelevant; the important thing is to marry her off as soon as possible.
She came here today to humiliate her; she wanted to see Jiang Wei grovel before her.
"What? Miss Song doesn't have the money to buy it?" Jiang Wei deliberately exaggerated her expression. "You're not here to freeload, are you!"
Jiang Wei's expression changed, and she said coldly, "Why do you think I would give it to you? Because you are the legitimate daughter of the Marquis of Chang'an? The Marquis of Chang'an has nothing to do with me. Stop barking outside. I am not your sister-in-law."
The people nearby were shocked to hear this, and fearing they would be implicated, they buried their heads in their chests and ate their melons with their eyes closed and their minds at ease.
Song Fangfang jumped up and down, pointing at Jiang Wei, "As expected of a lowly merchant's daughter, what kind of thing are you, spewing vulgarities and insults, and you don't even respect the Marquis's mansion? You dare to say that?"
Song Fangfang is wicked and stupid; she can't even find a few fresh words to use when she curses people.
All she knew was that some prince or nobleman would fall in love with her at first sight, marry her, and pamper her.
Yesterday, Zhang Laosi went out for drinks and ran into some hooligans, so he invited them to drink with him.
