Upon hearing Jiang Wei's voice, Jiang Wen jumped up from the low stool, exclaiming, "Sister is back!"
She ran over and took Jiang Wei's arm.
Jiang Wei let her pull her along, "You still haven't answered me, do you like needlework?"
Jiang Wen curled her lip. "I don't like it."
Jiang Wei asked, puzzled, "What were you doing just now?"
Jiang Wen wanted to embroider a purse for Jiang Wei herself. Jiang Wei had given her and her aunt so many nice things, and she had nothing to repay her with.
She wanted to do something for Jiang Wei that she could, but Jiang Wei was always out and about and she couldn't help her. So she thought of making her a purse and then making her clothes and shoes when she could do needlework very well.
But she spent the whole afternoon learning here, and it was so difficult; she couldn't learn it.
After reading the book in his hand, Mingzhao put it back where he had taken it before looking up and saying, "Sister, you're back."
Jiang Wei walked over and said in a gentle voice, "What are you reading so intently that you didn't even know your older sister was back?"
Mingzhao scratched his head and lowered his head shyly. "My sister knows that I didn't study much before and didn't have many books to read. Now I want to catch up and try my best to close the gap with others."
"Yes, my younger brother is the best, no worse than anyone else. Once I'm done with this busy period, I'll take you to the academy to study."
"Yes, there's no rush. Just take good care of yourself while you're away," Mingzhao said with a bright smile.
The three siblings chatted and laughed for a while, then Lu Zhu came up to Jiang Wei with a smile on her slightly chubby face, "Miss, everything is arranged."
"Sister Lian Sang is waiting for you in the flower hall. I came back to invite you." Dewdrop was very happy. She could finally serve her young lady personally again.
She longed to hum a song.
"Okay, let's go!" Jiang Wei lifted her foot and walked straight outside.
Jiang Wen grabbed her arm. "Wherever you go, sister, I want to go too," she said coquettishly.
Mingzhao stared at her intently, as if to say, "Just take us there. We wouldn't dare cause you any trouble outside the manor. Let's go inside and see what's going on."
Recently, Jiang Wen and Jiang Wei have become very close, and she has even started to act coquettishly towards Jiang Wei.
Jiang Wei hesitated for a moment, then looked at Jiang Wen and Ming Zhao, who were all grown up and could go and learn from others so they wouldn't be easily manipulated in the future.
"Let's go! Don't get scared when we get there." Jiang Wei warned them first.
"Sister underestimates me and my brother too much. Although we are not as good as you, we are not so scared!" Jiang Wen said confidently.
Mingzhao followed behind his eldest and third sisters.
He smiled as he listened to their quirky expressions; he was so happy to have family around him. It felt so good.
Jiang Wei summoned everyone to rectify the family's conduct, even Aunt Liu was brought out. She had long lost her former glory and looked just like a beggar on the street.
Her once glossy black hair, slicked back with hair oil, was now filthy and tangled like a wild dog's tail. Because of the lack of nourishment from her previous injuries, she had become emaciated and listless, lying pitifully on the ground without uttering a sound. The servants were all afraid of her and dared not approach.
Jiang Rou had no intention of coming when she heard that Jiang Wei had summoned everyone to the flower hall.
She was afraid that Jiang Wei might have seen her while she was hiding at the door, which would have exposed her.
She was hesitating whether Jiang Wei would think she was guilty if she didn't go, when she heard Aru come to report that her mother, Aunt Liu, had been carried out and placed on the ground by Jiang Wei's men.
"Give me a change of clothes." Jiang Rou asked Aru to help her change her clothes. As long as she changed her clothes, even if Jiang Wei saw her, she wouldn't expect it to be her.
Jiang Rou rushed to the flower hall, where her mother was lying on a wooden plank on the ground.
These days, Jiang Wei's people are preventing her from going in to see her mother.
Little did they know that Jiang Wei, that vile woman, had already tormented her mother to the point of being unrecognizable.
Jiang Rou looked around but couldn't find Jiang Wei. That bitch brought her mother here, but she herself didn't dare to come.
"Where's Jiang Wei! Go and fetch her for me!" Jiang Rou ordered angrily to the servant standing to the side.
"Are you all dead? Can't you see my mother lying here? Hurry up and go get a doctor."
Without Jiang Wei's order, none of the servants dared to move; they all lowered their heads and remained silent.
Just as Jiang Rou was about to have another outburst, Jiang Wei walked in from outside with Ming Zhao and Jiang Wen, chatting and laughing.
Jiang Rou rushed over and pointed at Jiang Wei's nose, cursing, "You bitch, how dare you treat my mother like this? What right do you have to treat her like this? No matter what, she is the mistress of this mansion. Quickly send someone to fetch a doctor, otherwise if anything happens to my mother, I will never let you off the hook."
Jiang Wei didn't take Jiang Rou seriously at all. "You don't have the final say in this family," she said, emphasizing each word, and walked past her without paying any attention to her request.
Jiang Yang hadn't originally intended to come, but upon hearing that Jiang Wei had summoned everyone, he hurried over from his own courtyard.
However, when he arrived at the door, he found that Jiang Wei and the others were walking ahead of him. He had wanted to secretly follow behind them, but he was discovered. He had no choice but to bite the bullet and bow to Jiang Wei, holding his breath as he followed behind her.
Jiang Rou saw her younger brother following behind Jiang Wei and said, "Why are you following her? Our mother is being tortured to death by her. You are the only male in this family. Apart from Father, you should be the one who calls the shots in this family."
Jiang Yang touched his nose and secretly glanced at Jiang Wei, afraid that she would turn around and blame him for what Jiang Rou had said.
"Second sister, what are you saying? This is our eldest sister, so naturally we should put her first in everything." Jiang Yang kept glancing at Jiang Wei as he spoke, hoping she would understand his gesture of goodwill.
