Granny Hua runs her own small business and knows how hard it is to earn money. Besides, there's nothing else on the ground except for charcoal dust, so the black and white ones are easy to choose from.
The shopkeeper repeated Granny Hua's words to Jiang Wei, and Jiang Wei's brows and eyes gradually relaxed. There are always some kind people in this world who are worth doing this for. She shouldn't get angry for people who aren't worth it, nor should she stop doing this just because she's met a few scoundrels.
Jiang Wei's mood gradually improved. "Tell them to take it without worry."
At that moment, Zhang Laosi secretly tiptoed out from behind the door.
Jiang Wei was so busy just now that she forgot about him.
"Lian Sang!" Jiang Wei called out in a clear voice.
Zhang Laosi cried out and ran outside, "Master, please forgive me this time. I just didn't know what happened and thought that the young lady of the Marquis's mansion had been wronged here, so I spoke up to help her."
When Zhang Laosi saw that things were not going well while Jiang Wei was beating Song Fangfang, he quickly hid. He didn't expect that even though he was safe and could sneak away, she still found him.
Although he was a man, he was no match for Lian Sang. Lian Sang grabbed his collar and pulled him back with great force.
Zhang Laosi fell flat on his back in front of the shop.
Jiang Wei didn't want to waste words with him and asked directly, "Who sent you? Don't try to find the groom's eyes with me. You know my patience has run out today."
Lian Sang stepped on Zhang Laosi's hand, looking at him expressionlessly, as if she wasn't the one stepping on him.
Zhang Laosi screamed in agony, "Ah...ah..."
Lian Sang nonchalantly used force again, causing Zhang Laosi to break out in a cold sweat from the pain. He truly regretted it; he hadn't expected this woman to be so ruthless.
"I'll tell you... I'll tell you..." How could someone like Zhang Laosi, who was too lazy to even do any work, keep his mouth shut?
After Lian Sang released his foot, he blurted out the whole story.
Although Zhang Laosi had never met that person, judging from what he asked Zhang Laosi to do, he must be one of those merchants.
Just as she expected, they kept causing her trouble. She had to talk to her uncle and ask him to put in a good word for her.
After Jiang Wei returned, she wrote invitations to those businessmen and sent them over, specifically mentioning that the Chen family, the richest family in the country, would also be attending.
The next day, Jiang Wei went to Zuichunlou at the same time, and to her surprise, Li Yousen was the first to arrive. She invited him to sit down and have tea as before.
Finally, the group of four entered the private room through the door. The leader, Master Liu, looked down on everyone and glanced around before noticing that only Li Yousen from Li's Shop was sitting there drinking tea.
Master Liu arrived right at mealtime, thinking that if the Chen family didn't come, he would give Jiang Wei a hard time; if they did come, he wouldn't be considered impolite.
As expected, they didn't come. If the Chen family, the richest family in China, were coming, they should have arrived by now. However, there was no sign of the Chen family members. For a moment, he became even more arrogant.
After Li Yousen saw him go in, he stood up and asked them about her. He glanced at Li Yousen and looked away, then walked to the head seat and sat down.
Master Liu pointed at Jiang Wei with his chin, "You're the owner of An Sheng Ji?"
Jiang Wei was neither angry nor dismissive of him because of his rudeness.
“Exactly.” Jiang Wei wore a polite smile, seemingly oblivious to Liu Yuanwai’s arrogance.
The three men behind Master Liu also sat down, seemingly ignoring Jiang Wei completely.
Master Liu then asked, "Didn't you say that someone from the Chen family, the richest family in the country, would be coming? Who from their family is coming? Why haven't they arrived yet?"
Everyone noticed that there was no one else in the private room.
After Liu finished speaking, someone chimed in, "That's right, why is no one from the Chen family here yet? You're not just using the Chen family as a front to lure us here, are you?"
Everyone looked at Jiang Wei, waiting for her answer.
Jiang Wei beckoned to the waiter at Zuichunlou to pour them wine, saying, "They must have been delayed by something. Let's eat and wait."
Now they were even less convinced that Jiang Wei could invite the Chen family. The richest man's family hadn't even come, yet she told them to eat first; they just didn't know the proper etiquette.
No one believed that she had actually invited the Chen family. She was just using delaying tactics, hoping that they would be more agreeable after eating her meal.
They know these tricks very well.
If she really had such a good relationship with the Chen family, why didn't the Chen family teach her how to do business?
One of the men in particular, Wang Congwang, was the first to see the prices of grain and charcoal rise in the capital. He originally planned to make a fortune off him, but his plans were ruined by the sudden appearance of An Sheng Ji.
His shifty eyes gleamed with a shrewd light as he stared at Jiang Wei with a probing expression.
He had looked outside An Sheng Ji so many times, but he had never seen anyone from the Chen family appear.
Zhang Laosi took his money to harm Jiang Wei; he was also the one who arranged for people to target Jiang Wei that day.
However, he didn't succeed; he still harbored resentment towards Jiang Wei.
"This woman must be lying to them," he said with a sarcastic tone, yelling at Jiang Wei, "Why don't you stay at home and learn to be a good wife and mother? What are you doing running around causing trouble? You even dare to lie and say that you have a relationship with the richest family, the Chen family, and make us wait here. Where are the Chen family members?"
If you really have a connection with the Chen family, they could easily give you some money-making business to live on. Why would they need you to come out and compete with us for this unprofitable business?
If you don't know how to do business, just sell the shop and go home. Instead, you've messed things up and ruined our business, causing us to lose a lot of money. Do you know how much that will cost us? Can you afford to take responsibility for that?
Another short, stout man chimed in, "Yes, young lady, you should stay home and learn to be a good wife and mother. Doing business really isn't suitable for a young lady like you."
If you back out now, we can buy back the grain and charcoal you have, at the original price you paid. We won't let you suffer any loss.
This short, stout man may seem gentle in his speech, but he's ruthless when it comes to getting things done.
They just ask for the original price and don't even want to pay for the laborers and drivers. How can the grain and charcoal get to the capital so easily?
After they finished speaking, Master Liu rolled his eyes, picked up the tea on the table, took a sip, leaned back in his chair, and said, "We don't want to make things difficult for you, but you should stop doing this business. After all, there's no reason for a woman to do business. If you keep messing things up like this, I think the capital city will be turned upside down."
If you really can't make ends meet, I think you're quite pretty. Otherwise, we can help you find a good family so you won't have to worry about food and clothing.
Shameless.....
Every word he said was pressuring her, yet he pretended to be doing it for her own good.
Jiang Wei was amused by their words. Didn't they just want to kick her out and stop her from doing business?
And they said it so sincerely and grandly.
"I'm afraid this won't be as you wish. I invited you all here today to discuss the grain and charcoal business and see what your plans are. If there's something I can compromise on, I certainly will."
