Chapter 349 Epilogue (1) Regaining Memories

Joey's sudden appearance was for a serious reason.

Firstly, she knew that Si Boye had arrived at Jiang Nian's place. Not knowing how the two were doing, she came to check on them.

Before yesterday, she hadn't expected that Si Boye would dare to come so directly, even though he knew Lu Zhaokun's influence in the United States.

Moreover, he used this method to get to Jiang Nian's side.

That's practically a blatant declaration of war.

Secondly, Jiang Nian had previously told her that she wanted to obtain a medicinal herb called Red Ginseng.

She happened to hear that there was an auction going on the night before, where this medicine would be auctioned off.

Although she didn't know what Jiang Nian wanted the red ginseng for, she had only heard that in traditional Chinese medicine, it was a miraculous medicine for invigorating qi, promoting blood circulation, and clearing the meridians.

So, she happened to come over and tell Jiang Nian the news.

Upon hearing about the auction, Jiang Nian looked up and said, "I'll go tomorrow night."

“Then I’ll go with you,” Joey raised an eyebrow. “I’ll go see if there’s anything that interests me.”

Jiang Nian left Qiao Yi and Si Boye in the living room while she went to the kitchen to cook dinner.

There were only two people left in the living room for a moment.

Actually, although they had spoken on the phone before, this was the first time Joey and Si Boye had met face to face.

Si Boye never imagined that one day he would become an ally of the person who had once schemed against Nian Nian and almost succeeded.

"I have to say, you're quite the charmer; things are progressing so quickly." Joey glanced at the man and raised an eyebrow.

Si Boye glanced at her, a forced smile on his face: "You're not bad either, managing to gain Niannian's trust so quickly that she gave you a key to the house."

Although this little princess of the Mellon family played an indispensable role in his finding Niannian.

But Si Boye still harbored some resentment towards this third wheel.

After all, if they hadn't been interrupted, he and Niannian might have already kissed.

"So, has Jiang Nian remembered anything?" Joey asked.

Si Boye nodded: "She probably felt that many of the scenes seemed familiar."

"But she couldn't tell whether it was something she had actually experienced or if she was hallucinating."

“She’ll remember eventually,” Joey shrugged. “I’m more confused about Lu Zhaokun’s attitude than when Jiang Nian will regain her memory.”

"He didn't stop you from getting close to Jiang Nian. This means he tacitly approves that Jiang Nian will one day find out the whole truth. And once Jiang Nian finds out, she will hate him even more."

"Knowing full well that this kind of deception and concealment won't last, I don't understand why such rational and cold-blooded leaders would do this."

"Perhaps, even keeping someone by my side for a short time would be enough."

Si Boye could understand Lu Zhaokun's thoughts.

After all, Niannian once hated him so much that she plotted to kill him and leave everything related to him.

If she hadn't lost her memory, how could the girl still mistake him for her father?

Si Boye remembered something: "Oh right, I didn't bring my phone. I'll need you to take some pictures of Niannian later and send them to Niannian's grandparents."

Although it was Si Boye who came to the US on his own initiative, based on certain considerations, not a single person in China was not concerned about this place.

He promised them he would take Niannian back soon. He believes it won't be long.

*

After dinner, a car came to pick Joey up and take her home.

Jiang Nian looked at Si Boye: "I'm going out too. It's safe here, you don't need to worry."

There are hidden people guarding outside.

Of course, Jiang Nian didn't know that the only person who could possibly kill Si Boye was the one who remained hidden.

To some extent, having the person who wants to kill protect the person who wants to kill does indeed make one very safe.

"Where are you going?" Si Boye asked.

"Go home for a visit."

In Jiang Nian's view, although she had moved out, her home was truly a secluded place.

Jiang Ren came to pick her up.

Before leaving, Jiang Ren glanced at the closed apartment door a few times before silently turning his gaze away.

As she stepped into the room, the butler greeted her respectfully, saying, "Miss is home. The master must be very happy."

Jiang Nian glanced at him: "Where is Father?"

"The master is in his study. Should I go and announce his arrival?" the butler asked.

"No need, I'll go straight there."

As Jiang Nian climbed the stairs, she stood in front of the heavy, carved wooden door of the study and knocked.

A voice came from inside: "Come in."

Open the door.

Lu Zhaokun sat in a wheelchair, a thin wool blanket covering his knees. He was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out.

The moonlight was pale tonight. The man's expression was blank; his profile, bathed in the scattered moonlight, was tinged with a sense of coolness and loneliness.

What is Father thinking?

Jiang Nian walked towards the man.

"Why did you suddenly come back?" Lu Zhaokun did not answer directly.

He glanced at the girl and asked calmly, "Are you getting used to living alone?"

Mentioning someone in a tone that is neither too light nor too heavy.

Jiang Nian knew that Lu Zhaokun must know that she had taken a man home last night.

“My father felt that I shouldn’t let others into my home.”

"I know that person's background is unknown. But I have a special feeling about that person."

From childhood, she was used to doing things according to Lu Zhaokun's requirements.

But moving out is already the first step in rebellion. Doing something even more outrageous won't seem like a big deal.

Lu Zhaokun did not continue the topic.

He simply turned his head and asked, "Is there something you need?"

Jiang Nian took out an acupuncture kit from her pocket and squatted down in front of the wheelchair: "I'll treat your leg."
