Chapter 91 Fourth Brother Can't Cook, But He Doesn't Say So

No wonder Ji Qiyue was shocked.

Of the seven brothers, the fourth brother was always the most aloof. Not only was he quiet, but he also suffered from severe mysophobia and misogyny.

Let alone strangers being kept away, even his own younger brother would be disliked if he got close to his fourth brother and put his arm around his shoulder.

And now—

Fourth Brother was actually with Niannian, and even let her sleep in his arms?

He had never seen his fourth brother let someone get so close in his entire life.

[Ji Yubai: Niannian's deskmate was hired as a stand-in for a film set, and she took leave to come with her.]

[Ji Yubai: I originally wanted to take her out to eat, but the rain was too heavy, so I took her back to my apartment.]

[Ji Yubai: Niannian can stay here tonight. I'll take her to school tomorrow morning.]

After replying to the message, Ji Yubai turned off his phone.

The rain was getting heavier, so for safety reasons, we drove very slowly.

The 20-minute journey took a full 40 minutes before the car finally stopped in front of a detached apartment building.

"We've arrived at Yubai." Yu Xiao turned off the car and looked out the window, speechless with amazement.

"The storm tonight is too much. It even knocked down these trees outside. It feels like anyone weighing less than 100 pounds could be blown away."

Ji Yubai looked down at the girl in his arms, who was fast asleep.

Her delicate skin was almost translucent under the light, and her refined features exuded tranquility.

Her long, thick eyelashes trembled slightly with her even breathing, as beautiful as a tranquil painting, making one reluctant to wake her.

"Help me open that double umbrella and come down to meet me," Ji Yubai said.

As soon as Yu Xiao opened the car door, a howling wind swept in, carrying rain.

Holding an umbrella, I opened the back door of the car. The wind was so strong that I couldn't open my eyes, and my hair was instantly turned into a mess. This shows how strong the wind and rain were.

Because Jiang Nian was leaning on him, Ji Yubai had barely moved the entire way. Only now, when he moved, did he realize that his shoulders were stiff and sore.

"Fourth Brother..."

Jiang Nian was awakened by the sound of the wind, and was still somewhat disoriented when she opened her eyes.

Before she could react, her body was completely wrapped in a warm, thick coat, and then Ji Yubai picked her up, coat and all.

In an instant, consciousness returned: "...Fourth Brother?"

"It's too windy and cold outside, let me carry you home."

Ji Yubai spoke in a calm tone. As he spoke, Jiang Nian was already being carried out of the car by him.

Jiang Nian was completely wrapped up, and despite the raging storm outside, she remained completely unaffected by it.

All I could feel was warmth, and all I could hear was the steady, deep heartbeat from my fourth brother's chest.

There's a sense of security, like having an older brother around, as if someone is there to shield you from the storms of life.

Pupil recognition opens the door.

Upon entering, all the lights in the apartment turned on automatically.

Ji Yubai then put Jiang Nian down.

Jiang Nian glanced around the room and her first impression was that the place where her fourth brother lived didn't look like anyone lived there.

Or perhaps it lacks a sense of everyday life.

The stark gray and white tones are immediately apparent, with every item placed at a perfect angle, devoid of any clutter or unnecessary decoration. The excessive cleanliness and tidiness exude an aloofness that keeps strangers at bay.

Yu Xiao dropped the two people off and then went home.

"Does Fourth Brother usually live here by himself?" Jiang Nian asked after looking around.

"Hmm," Ji Yubai responded indifferently.

First, he raised his hand and tucked Jiang Nian's coat away. Then he bent down and took out a pair of unopened disposable slippers from the shoe cabinet.

"I usually live here by myself, and I haven't prepared anything. You can wear this for now."

"Okay." Jiang Nian nodded and changed into slippers.

"Would you like to take a shower first? Don't catch a cold."

Ji Yubai's face was expressionless, but he raised his hand and touched Jiang Nian's hair to see if she was wet.

"No need," Jiang Nian shook her head. "But you, Fourth Brother, your clothes are almost completely soaked. Go take a shower and change your clothes."

"Mm," Ji Yubai replied.

Suddenly remembering something, she looked at the TV in the living room, which hadn't been turned on since they moved in, and said, "Then you can watch TV on the sofa for a while and wait for me."

"good."

Want some snacks?

"Need not."

Jiang Nian said no, but Ji Yubai thought that kids like to eat snacks while watching TV.

He rummaged through drawers and cabinets, searching for a long time before finally finding a bag of potato chips that Yu Xiao had bought six months ago when he moved.

For a fleeting moment, his eyes lit up: "Found it."

The next second, he glanced at the expiration date, paused for a few seconds, and said, "...It's expired."

Then, taking a deep breath, she took out her phone and said, "I'll order takeout for you. What do you want to eat?"

For some reason, Jiang Nian felt a strange urge to laugh when she saw the expression on her fourth brother's face at that moment.

It's as if Fourth Brother has always lived here alone, and no one else has ever come in.

He wanted to take good care of her, to make her relax and not be reserved, and to make her feel at home, but Fourth Brother seemed more reserved than she was.

"I really don't eat snacks, Fourth Brother, you should go take a shower," Jiang Nian said.

"Um."

Ji Yubai then took his change of clothes into the bathroom.

Jiang Nian sat on the sofa and randomly picked a movie to watch. A dozen minutes later, Ji Yubai came out of the bathroom.

Her hair was half-dry and slightly messy, and she had changed into loungewear. Although her face was still excessively exquisite and outstanding, she had lost some of the aloofness of a top-tier movie star, and looked much more relaxed and casual.

"Are you hungry?" Ji Yubai rolled up his sleeves. "I'll go cook for you."
