Chapter 363 Catching Fish, Grilling Fish, Eating Hot Pot

"Alright. Ye Er, go and choose a place."

Ye Er was an expert in this area, as if he was born with it. He looked around and found a relatively flat spot. He tested the ground with his hand and chose the location to set up the tent.

After giving Ye Qinchuan his instructions, he saw Su Ya picking up small stones and twigs.

"Ya Ya, what are you doing?"

"Ye Qinchuan, could you help me move a few larger stones over? I need to build a stove."

Ye Qinchuan looked around after hearing this and saw several oval-shaped stones by the river, which he then moved over.

Suya dug a pit not far from the riverbank, leveled the bottom with small stones, surrounded it with large stones, leaving openings at the top and bottom. She then placed the collected branches on top and lit them with a lighter she carried with her.

The fire quickly grew larger, and the burning branches crackled and popped. The surroundings gradually warmed up.

Ye Qinchuan hadn't expected Su Ya to even know how to do this. He'd seen Su Ya filtering water during the replay of the island livestream last time. What had this girl been through all these years? Watching Su Ya bending down to add twigs, Ye Qinchuan's hand unconsciously reached out to pat her head.

However, just as his hand was about to touch Suya's hair...

Suya raised her head.

Startled, Ye Qinchuan quickly pulled his hand back.

"Ye Qinchuan, can you grill fish?"

"Yes, this is no problem for me. I'll show you how to do it in a bit."

After Ye Qinchuan finished speaking, he walked to the riverbank.

The river is teeming with fish. I feel like I could scoop up a few with my bare hands.

However, Ye Qinchuan's expectations were too optimistic. He stood by the river trying to catch fish, but every time he was about to catch a fish, it would slip away from his fingertips. Apart from the wet feeling on his fingertips, he didn't catch a single fish.

The fish that swam from his fingertips seemed particularly mischievous, escaping from Ye Qinchuan's clutches and splashing water with its tail, as if mocking his incompetence.

Ye Qinchuan couldn't help but feel a little annoyed. Why were even these fish working against him? Seeing this scene and looking at Ye Qinchuan's expression, Su Ya couldn't help but let out a soft laugh, a laugh that was so pleasant to hear.

Although the voice was low, Ye Qinchuan still heard it. Looking at Su Ya in the firelight, his face flushed slightly. He awkwardly turned his head away, not wanting Su Ya to see him.

Seeing that it was getting dark, Su Ya took the initiative to walk to the riverbank.

You could see her hand outstretched over the water, and as soon as she saw a fish coming, she scooped it up and caught it.

She caught seven or eight fish, enough for these people to eat, before she stopped.

Ye Qinchuan was even more frustrated.

He felt that he was not even as good as a girl.

His pride made him prepare to continue fishing.

Then Su Ya said, "Ye Qinchuan, it's getting dark."

"Ya Ya, I'll be quick. Just you wait. Tonight, I'm going to make sure you get to eat the fish I caught."

"Ye Qinchuan, I'm hungry." Su Ya pointed to her stomach.

Upon hearing this, Ye Qinchuan immediately gave up. No matter how strong his pride was, it was not as important as Su Ya's hunger.

"Okay. I'll grill the fish right away. Let me tell you, my grilled fish is incredibly delicious. It's comparable to that of a five-star chef."

After saying that, Ye Qinchuan took out various seasonings from his bag, which he had bought at the market. There were seasonings for both meat and fish.

Ye Qinchuan cleaned the fish and then got a few branches from a nearby tree.

Use a knife to cut off the excess branches around the tree.

Skewer the fish that has been coated with grilled fish sauce onto the grill.

After stringing the first one, he handed it to Suya, and then immediately started stringing the second one.

That's how you string together seven or eight fish.

They added some more branches to the fire.

They started grilling the fish.

After a while, the aroma of fish wafted out, making one's mouth water.

I must say, Ye Qinchuan is quite skilled at grilling fish.

Su Ya had no idea when Ye Qinchuan bought these things. No wonder, he had wanted to buy a gas stove too.

Having worked as a guide in Cannes for over a decade, he was quite perceptive and, seeing Ye Er setting up a tent, he approached him and offered to help.

Half an hour later, after they had set up their tents.

Suya and the others have almost finished grilling their fish.

Ye Er came running over after smelling the aroma of grilled fish.

Go to the river and wash your hands clean.

Only then did he sit down in front of the fire.

“Go, call Cannes over to eat with us,” Suya said.

Before Ye Er could even get up, Cannes smelled the aroma and ran over. The grilled fish smelled so good; he had never smelled such delicious grilled fish before.

Although Cannes brought its own food, compared to the grilled fish, it was like pig swill.

So he asked, "May I have a piece of grilled fish? It smells so good."

"Cannes, sit down. I'm on my way to invite you to dinner."

Ye Er said.

Cannes looked surprised. "You actually want me to eat with you?"

"Yes, you're our guide, so of course you'll eat with us. Here, take this fish, it's freshly grilled."

Ye Er kindly handed him the freshly grilled fish.

Holding the fish, Cannes almost cried with emotion.

He used to work as a guide, but those people only cared about their own food and didn't care about him at all. He could only eat the steamed buns and water he brought with him each time, unlike these people who actually took the initiative to invite him to eat with them.

He secretly vowed to himself that he would help them find what they wanted.

Ye Qinchuan then took out the self-heating hot pot he had bought earlier from his backpack. He let everyone choose a flavor they liked, and Cannes chose a seafood flavor.

He had never eaten anything like this before and didn't know how to eat it.

So he looked at Ye Er and the others.

Ye Er is quite sensitive about small things. He picked up the Cannes hot pot, tore open the packaging, and opened the seasoning packet inside. Then he took out the heating pack, opened the top layer, and placed it underneath. Next, he poured water onto the heating pack.

Then put the top layer with hot pot ingredients on top.

They didn't use river water, but rather bottled water from their backpacks. The first rule of wilderness survival is to avoid drinking untreated water unless absolutely necessary. The water here hadn't been boiled, so it likely contained many microorganisms and wasn't clean.

Within ten minutes, steam was seen bubbling and rising from inside.

You can eat it directly after opening the lid.

Ye Qinchuan picked up the cooked self-heating hot pot and handed it to Su Ya. This was Su Ya's first time eating self-heating hot pot, and she was surprised that it tasted pretty good. Ye Qinchuan gave Su Ya a vegetarian version, knowing that Su Ya didn't really like greasy food.

Cannes stared in amazement at the self-heating hot pot; he had never seen anything like it before. Their place was far from the big cities, and people's lifestyles were still stuck in the past.

Cannes held the hotpot and looked around curiously.

Seeing his reaction, Ye Er asked, "You've never eaten this kind of self-heating hot pot before?"
